Advantages: starship troopers 1 is great viewing

...In 1998 Starship troopers first appeared. The first time I watched it I was taken back by the death and destruction of bugs which brought a smile to my face. I don't want to reck the film for you so i'll only outline the main story line. A federation has been set up to take care of an ever building threat from bugs on another planet (Klendafu). This planets of bugs have been sending meteors towards planet earth in their bid to survive. The story follows a group of young friends who become citizens of the federation to join the fight for human survival. This film contains very gory scenes of extreme violence so if your a bit screamish I would recommend not to watch it. This film provides in my opinion 124mins of pure entertainment and I wish I could be saying the same thing about Starship Troopers 2 but that would be lying... Read review

Disadvantages: Nowhere near as good as the first one

...I watched the first Starship Troopers with bated breath, it was action all the way, so when I had the chance to buy Starship Troopers 2 I didn't hesitate. I have just watched Starship Troopers 2 today, what a flop. Most of it was shot in semi darkness so you couldn't see what was going on and if you hadn't seen the first film you wouldn't have had the foggiest idea what was going on, even if it had been filmed in daylight. There were about twenty soldiers shooting huge guns willy nilly at millions of bugs. As far as I can remember I only saw one trooper get killed. In the first film hundreds got killed in various gruesome ways, much more interesting. I was so disappointed - I thought I was watching a much less exciting Get Me Out of Here I'm a Celebrity; there were bugs everywhere. There was a little bit of sex, well... Read review
