Hilarious. Completely mad. Possibly the best comedy DVD in my vast collection. Now I have got that out the way. I will justify my choice of words.
The length alone of this DVD sets it apart from a lot of more highly priced comedy DVD's. 144 minutes of Ross Noble on-stage time. If you don't know anything about Ross Noble's stylings then let me try and explain him briefly as best I can. He tends to start with a story then wander completely off from it, eventually finding his way back at the very end of his set. He doesn't seem to have a rehearsed set and prefers to interact with the crowd then offer the audience insight in to his odd way of viewing the world. I can confirm, it is a wonderful treat to be invited.
highlights of the set include:
Celebrity faces in muffins... "there's a face, next muffin" Bt Friends and pets service.. "17p a day" Old german oompah dancer."you really are very german Franz" Summoning the Demon.... "Least menacing demon ever, he sounds like Blakey from on the buses"
The extras
The muffin game: This is amusing for a few minutes but it really doesn't add anything to the DVD. I suspect Noble threw it in for his own amusement. If you watch the DVD and then play the game though.. your in on the joke.
Commentaries: There are two! They are completely mad aswell. As you would expect. It is almost like a whole new set, because being Noble... as much as he tries to stay with the DVD he simply doesn't. He just talks at you and gives you further insight into his world. I laughed almost as much during this as I did watching the actual performance. He then goes on to do a commentary on his original commentary. This is slightly harder to follow but again is well worth the watch and full of come comedy gems.
Noble's live at the Apollo performance. This is the full set of Noble's appearance on The Jack Dee fronted comedy set show. Another fine performance and is only adding value to the DVD and making you further feel like you have recieved your moneys worth.
In short. If you like comedy. Give this a shot. You won't regret it.
