I went in there for the first time last week and whilst browsing through the video games and Dvd's, I stumbled across SERIES 1 of American sitcom -'ROSEANNE.'
I loved watching this sitcom as a kid/Teenager so seeing as it was priced at £3.00 for 23 episodes plus dvd extras and seeing the box was in very nice condition (2005 released) and it was the only one there , I double checked the price ,grabbed it and headed for the checkout.
Roseanne was first shown in 1988. The Sitcom is based on American Family The 'CONNERS' Who portray a typical down to earth working class family ,warts an' all.

unlike The Cosby Show and Happy Days, where the families seem to be cheesily perfect, Roseanne is perhaps more applicable to today's society - for its time, it was considered quite shocking (albeit in later episodes) for dealing with uncomfortable subjects like teenage pregnancy. Then again, it is nothing like as gritty as, for example, Hollyoaks or any of the current British soaps.
The DVD box set comes, not surprisingly, in a box and consists of five discs - the first four have five episodes; the last one has three. The presentation of the box is well designed and includes a number of interesting facts about the show - such as where it is set (Illinois) and the fact that it was number 2 in the national TV ratings for the first two series, pipped to the post by rival The Cosby Show.
