Take control of the Italian Stallion in your effort to beat the rest--including Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang (aka Mr T), Ivan Drago and Tommy Gunn--and be the best.Like most boxing games it has the usual exhibition and sparring modes, but being licensed from a film it also has the all-important movie mode, which is where the fun starts. Well I think something is wrong as we watched Rocky 1 and then Rocky 3 and now we are back to Rocky 2. It really is a good job I have seen these film several times before so I can follow them and not mind the order we are watching them in.
At the start of this film we see the fight which was the ending for the first film when Rocky takes the fight with Apollo creed to the last round and is defeated by a split decision from the judges. Rocky is happy with the outcome and now just wants to get on with his life. He spend time in hospital and when he comes out he and Adrian get married. Soon Rocky is struggling for work and after buying a new house and car he become desperate and finally goes back to work in the gym which is run by Mick. Soon he learns that Adrian is pregnant so the pressure is really on him now.
Apollo is not happy with the outcome of the fight as he is getting letters saying that Rocky was the real winner so he wants a re-match. Apollo is taunting Rocky calling him the Italian Chicken and finally Rocky starts to consider a rematch. Rocky has a heart to heart with Mick who tells him not to fight as he cannot see properly in his left eye so will undoubtedly loose the match but Rocky is determined. Adrian is also against the fight and the pressure gets to her and she goes into labour and after delivering the baby she slips into a coma.
With all this going on in Rocky’s life will he be able to get the strength to fight Apollo or will Rocky forget about the fight and continue to lead his quiet life with his new son?
I found this film to be a wonderful and brilliant sequel to the first film. This is quite unusual as sequels are usually a big let down. I found the story continued and followed on at a great pace and I found this film actually better than the first. I though the return of all of the characters from the first film great and again I found each and everyone bought their own individual take to the story and gave it a lot of depth. Mick was a favourite for me and I found the relationship with him and Rocky to be lovely and more of a father and son than boxer and trainer. I loved their heart to heart chats and the support which Mick gave Rocky during the time when Adrian was in a coma, this was at times quite moving.
The character of Pauly did not impress me in this film again as he was just too shallow. I think he did manage to redeem himself slightly when he did visit his sick sister and he did show slightly that he had a heart. Adrian was also a great character and I liked how in this film she was starting to build up her confidence and get over some of her shyness.
Stallone managed to give an excellent performance with the Rocky character and I really did believe in him. I was disappointed that he was wearing his stupid black hat again and played with his black bouncy ball as this drove me mad but the look he was going for was a big thing in the 70’s when this film was set. I though he worked well with Butkiss the dog and loved when they worked and had scenes together.
The storyline was great and worked really well. I think the character of Apollo was right with his decision to request a rematch and think he did all he could to get the match to go ahead. The story was very realistic and I was actually shocked when I learnt that Stallone had actually written the films. I knew he directed them but did not know he wrote all of them as well. I give him a lot of credit for this.
There were no real special effects in the film except for the fight scenes which I though were excellent. I did not notice any dodgy punches during this fight and they all looked amazingly real. At times I was wincing when a shot smacked one of them around the face and there head shot back with blood spilling off it. I loved how it was real boxing we saw and not the light weight stuff we get today. This match really would not have lasted the first round in today’s times!
The music throughout the film was excellent and I liked how the same tracks which were used in the first film were also used again as this just helped with the continuation of the story. I found all of them excellent and they all worked well with the places they were used.
The DVD which we have does not have any bonus material but this s no great loss to me as I am not really a fan of this. The running time of the film is 113 minutes and the certificate is a PG, it does contain moderate violence but I think this will not affect children as it happens in the boxing ring. We paid just £4 for this DVD from Tesco and I think this was a complete bargain.
I am definitely going to recommend this film as it has a great mix of boxing and Rocky’s personal life and has some excellent fight scenes.
Advantages: More great action from inside and ouside the ring Disadvantages: none really

Sylvester Stallone returns as Rocky Balboa in this sequel to the hit 1976 blockbuster Rocky.

...stands out as the best Rocky film to me, possibly because it was the first one that I saw. All of the cast return for this sequel, with Apollo desperate for a rematch with Rocky to prove that he can beat 'this bum'. Rocky is less keen on the idea of a rematch. He has Adrienne now, and she's having his baby. He tries to make money elsewhere, doing commercials, going back to work with dead carcasses, but we all know that he's really a boxer! Adrienne ...

Rocky II, The second out of the six, If you have not seen the first Rocky this film might be hard to understand but it will still be a good film and worth watching, The main story of Rocky II is that Apollo Creed the guy Rocky had to fight in Rocky one wanted a rematch because he said Rocky was just lucky and this time he is going to show him who is champion, So Rocky agrees and its training time for Rocky again, He also gets married to the love ... ...really angry and he wants Rocky dead! he told him that he wont last long this time, but Rocky was also ready for it he had been training to box with his right hand because he normally fights left handed ( Southpaw Jinx) this was to confuse Apollo, The same happens again really with Apollo beating rocky but this time Rocky has an amazing last round they were both tired out by this point and they both went down for the count at the same time, But Rocky ...

Hard to believe that the first Rocky film was in 1978. It really doesn't seem to have aged throughout the years, the fun, excitement and cheers for Rocky are now all back?

It has been quite a while since Sylvester Stallone was in the ring as Rocky Balboa, and the last film Rocky V had him training a fighter called Tommy Gunn.
