First Impressions: This is an outstanding cartoon-comedy that will appeal to both the younger and older generations. I have returned to watch it over and over again and it still has not aged for me.
The Story: Welcome to the world of robots, where, literally, everyone and everything is of metallic origin. It is in this wonderfully created world that you will meet Rodney (whose voice is given life to by Ewan Mcgregor). Rodney is a slightly underprivileged individual as far as androids go, but regardless of his disadvantaged social standing his motorized parents try their hardest to make sure he has as much as they can give him. Rodney's dad is a dishwasher (in every sense of that word) and although Rodney loves his dad to bits and bolts, he has ambitions to seek out a life in the big city as an inventor. Meanwhile in the city, Rodney's idol, a Mr. Bigweld is missing and instead of finding the welcoming arms of a big company who encourages inventors, he comes face to face with the ugliness of corporate greed being instigated by Mr. Bigweld's replacement, the aptly named Ratchet. With help from a very unusual band of misfit friends, Rodney must overcome the obstacles now facing the entire robot race.
The Characters Your favorite robot will be Fender, simply because he is played by Robin Williams at his best. Just like the genie lifted Aladdin out of seriousness, Fender brings the sidekick splitting humor to this already well filmed flick. There will be scenes that you watch over and over as Fender lands up broken and entangled and dancing on balls. My favorite scene with Fender is a Britney Spears impersonation that had me rolling on the ceiling. Another enjoyable characters is Mr. Bigweld played by the classic comedian, director and writer Mel Brooks, it is casting par none. Jennifer Coolidge also makes a huge ass out of herself as Aunt Fanny, you might recognize her voice as that of Joey's agent from the comedy series Joey. So many of the characters add to the hilarity and you really need to watch this yourself to meet them all and understand what I am talking about.
Verdict: This is one of those movies you own for keeps. Its definitely not a shelve hogger and will spend very little time there. You will be hauling this out, time after time in years to come. It is truly worth its weight in laughter. Don't miss out on owning this super film.
My Favorite Quote: Rodney Copperbottom: This is our moment to shine, to show them what we're made of. Fender: In my case it's a rare metal called afraidium. It's yellow, tastes like chicken... Buck-ah! [lays an egg] Fender: Whoa! Didn't know I could do that!

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, please let me know and I'll re-rate.

Review of I, Robot (DVD)
Advantages: Original, entertaining and funny (at times it's "laugh out loud" funny too) !!! Disadvantages: Way too short ... the extras on this DVD are actually longer than the main feature !!!
