Robot Chicken - Star Wars
"Robot Chicken - Star Wars" is simply "COMEDY GENIUS" !!! Seth Green and the creative team behind this DVD have carefully selected all of the best characters, storylines and moments from the Star Wars movies and added a touch of Robot Chicken style originality and have mixed in a dash of satire, a dollop of parody and a few sprigs of pure insanity !!! What makes Robot Chicken sooooo watchable is the clever mix of visual styles ... using very simple animation techniques and action figures the team create something so simple [yet so impressive]. Add to this the talented cast of voice over performers and the result is a fast and very funny assault on the senses !!!
The humour is very similar to that of Family Guy ... which is hardly surprising as many of the cast and crew have also worked on Family Guy ...
A Few Highlights
The DVD is packed with scenes that Star Wars fans will love ... scenes such as Bush and Clinton duelling in the style of Jedi Knights, an adverisement for Max Rebo's Greatest Hits and Palpatine speaking to Vader (via collect call) about the destruction of the Death Star.
Many of the scenes are very quick but there are also some that are extended such as the brillaint scene in which Star Wars creator George Lucas is riding a Taun Taun to escape a bloodthirsty gang of nerds at a Sci-Fi convention. It is hilarious ...
There are also some very clever scenes that actually add on to existing scenes from the actual Star Wars movies ... such as the scene with the Millennium Falcon in the Asteroid ... in Robot Chicken - Star Wars, having failed to catch the Millennium Falcon the Space Slug grabs a phone and orders a take away !!!
The advert for Ackbar's breakfast cereal is just bizarre and surreal as is the mini musical "Empire On Ice" !!!
There are many more great scenes too ... but will leave you to discover these for yourself !!!
The Extras
In addition to the episode Robot Chicken - Star Wars the DVD is packed with extras. These include extra episodes of the regular Robot Chicken series, behind the scenes commentaries, trailers, documentaries and interviews with the cast and crew. All of which [in my opinion] are very watchable.
Summary
Robot Chicken - Star Wars is brilliant. Originality and humour play an important role in the DVD and fans of either the Star Wars Saga or the Robot Chicken Series will not be disappointed. Whilst being a Star Wars fan helps in terms of understanding many of the references and in-jokes it is still very amusing even if your knowledge of Star Wars is limited.
Advantages: very funny, but only once Disadvantages: the feature presentation is short
Robot Chicken Star Wars is a collaboration by Adultswim, and quite a few of the makers of Family Guy, and the same humour comes through here. Each scene is animated using what looks like action figures, and its really cleverly done. This DVD feature presentation isn't as long as it could be, but it has some funny sketches, and some not so funny sketches. George Bush discovering that he is a Jedi was a highlight for me, as was the reverse call by ... ...big fan of Robot Chicken or Adultswim, but my husband is so I bought this as a gift to him. I enjoyed it the first time, but for me its not a repeat watch. I would say if you are a fan of the usual Robot Chicken stuff then this is a good addition to your collection. George Lucas makes a cameo in it, so that's worth looking out for, as is the Jar Jar Binks and Darth Vader scene on the Death star. The DVD has some good extras on it, which takes the ...

Advantages: original, and very funny Disadvantages: none
If you like spoofs and starwars, well then look no further, this is the funniest starwars spoof since spaceballs. Robotchicken is set out in various sketches, re enacting and adding their own twisted take on the star wras franchise. Only this time it is done through the form of stop motion animation. Robotchicken uses actual starwars figures to create their own twisted scenes, and the jokes are very original which makes this dvd very different from the rest. Have you ever wondered what happened to boba fett after he was eaten, or what would have happened if luke and darth vader joined forces? Well its all here and more. I found the comedy well scripted and hilariously funny, you will need to have a bit of knowledge about the story and characters involved or a lot of the jokes will go over your head. This dvd is recomended to any fan ...

DVD Description
The warped minds at Adult Swim's ROBOT CHICKEN take their demented sensibility to the holy grail of sci-fi epics, STAR WARS, in this hilarious special. Jaws will drop as Luke Skywalker and Emperor Palpatine trade 'yo mama' jokes, George W. Bush and Abraham Lincoln battle it out with lightsabers, and Darth Vader sobs on the telephone. But the show really hits its stride when riffing on the franchise's supporting characters, including bug-eyed Admiral Akbar (promoting a delicious breakfast cereal), the rowdy barflies at the Mos Eisley Cantina (a couple of architects out for a tragic after-work drink), and of course Jar Jar Binks. As usual, a cast of celebrities lend their voices to the animated antics--including Hulk Hogan, Conan O'Brien, and James Van Der Beek--with even George Lucas getting in on the action for his flannel-clad counterpart.
