RoboCop is by far one the most exciting films ever made. It is action pack, full of memorable quotes and there is nothing to ruin the film. How many times have you seen a film that’s going great and then gets ruin by a pointless scene? Well RoboCop is one of very few films and even few action films that keeps you interested purely on it’s story, direction, acting and above all those memorable quotes.
Paul Verhoven, who I personally credit as the first person to make Arnold Schwazzegga look like he can act, directs it. Verhoven was a big fan of Akira Kurosawa and having watched many Kurosawa films and then seeing RoboCop again. It has to be said there is a fin line between inspired by, and ripping off, Verhoven does not cross that line, as so many other directors tend to do. It is a combination of true inspiration of Kurosawa’s work, and Verhovens own genius.
RoboCop has no faults as a film. There are however tons of goof ups, for example visible blood packs, and window breaking before they were touched. But to be honest, I think a lot of the goofs were probably deliberate, and placed there to see if anyone would notice in such a high action film. And of cause after watching the film about 50 or 60 times, I began to start noticing things that I haven’t seen before. If anything it makes the film that much better because you can watch it again and again and always get something new out of it.
