Robocop is a near-classic movie about a fictional scenario where Detroit is effectively controlled/owned by a corporation known as OCP or Omni-Consumer Products. The real problem with the city of Detroit is the skyrocketing crime rate and OCP wants to transform the whole city by rebuilding it and making it into Delta City. To do this they need to get the crime rate under control. 2nd in command at OCP, Dick Jones, has an idea involving large Enforcement Droids – ED-209s, but they are unreliable and a younger executive has a better plan involving a cyborg programme. Peter Weller plays the lead nicely, with no outstanding performances elsewhere really. Violent in parts but a great early futuristic film.
