inches depending on the figure, each figure consists of 2-7 easy to assemble parts, What was at first considered merely a futuristic action film, Robocop quickly gained a cult following due to it foreboding message about the not-so-distant future. A world where a hard-working, honest cop is turned into an emotionless weapon. When Officer Alex Murphy's memories seep into Robocop's consciousness, a battle of morals and revenge commence. The Robocop series is fondly regarded by many, and, we believe, it's time it was honored with some cool figures!

prefiguringTerminator 2: Judgment Day(1991), to a second, more powerful cyborg introduced as an adversary to the tin-can man played to perfection by Peter Weller. Generally dismissed by most fans, here director Irvin Kershner does much the same job as he did with the firstStar Warssequel,The Empire Strikes Back(1980), which is to make a darker and in some ways more involving follow-up.Nancy Allen returns from the original as RoboCop's policewoman sidekick and Kershner sticks to the jet-black satire and ruthless comic-book morality of the original, making this a rarity for Hollywood: a multi-million-dollar franchise movie anti-capitalist assault on the "greed is good" mentality of the Regan era. There's even a hilariously prescient dig at the way the studio would eventually dumb the series down into family-friendly fodder, a process that began with the immediate sequel,RoboCop 3(1993). Action is to the fore and among the spectacular set-pieces and furious carnageRoboCop 2offers a last stand before digital effects took over for some excellent stop-motion animation for RoboCop's psychotic new foe.On the DVD: this is a perfunctory release with nothing in the way of extras bar the original trailer presented cropped to 4:3. Fortunately the 1.77:1 picture on the main feature is excellent, with minimal grain, strong colours and plenty of detail. The sound, though four-channel Dolby Prologic rather than Dolby Digital, is likewise excellent, with every word clear and gunshots, explosions and pulsating score combining to full cacophonic blockbuster effect. The disc also contains dubbed versions in Italian, French and Spanish, as well as a vast selection of subtitles. --Gary S Dalkin

Robocop 2 is another movie which adds weight to the argument that sequels basically suck. Few sequels work, those that do are usually radical rethinks of the movie whih came before and have very few elements of the original in them, or make use of more modern technology to blow the predecessor away with flashy special effects and the like. Robocop 2 followed on too closely to its predecessor for that to ever be a viability and went for the highly obvious 'evil robot' plot for its main focus rather than coming up with a surprising take on the old idea. Basically they made a movie which took the ideas of the original and threw away half the good parts, adding another robot and some ultra-violence to draw a visuals hungry audience.
What they came up with is a movie which sucks.
Well, ok that is too harsh but frankly its not very good. The original Robocop, directed by Paul Verhoeven had a cast of characters who you could empathise with. Peter Weller was introduced to us as the very human, family man cop before being shot to pieces in a warehouse by a gang of psychos. His Robocop character was all programmed robot - cold and mechanised in direct comparison. We liked the characters, empathising with his plight and with his partner having to see him like this, wanting revenge for him against the thugs and for him to find some of the humanity which she knows is burried in his brain somewhere. Robocop 2 features the same pairing but its not the same - both appear to be delivering their lines in a daydream rather than putting any feeling behind them. Not surprising when the makers have decided to add 'comedy' to the proceedings which really does NOT work at all. OCP have operated on Robocop after a botched raid at a drug warehouse, making him a much more touchy-feely crime fighter. He drives the speed limit at all times, turns off a fire hydrant which some kids are playing under to conserve water...and its all VERY annoying and pathetic. Behind all this LA is still falling apart and now a career criminal by the name of Kane is selling a new, highy addictive drug called Nuke on the streets. Nuke kills and the police force are determined to eradicate it. Robocop is their main weapon but his circuits are fried but eventually he takes matters into his own hands to solve that problem. Kane basically gets ass-whupped and ends up in a hospital bed...OCP seeing a perfect chance to build a newer better robot using his brain stem, controlling him more effectively than they could Robocop I(they name him Robocop II..gawd) by using his own addiction to Nuke. Things backfire of course and Kane goes on the rampage, the seemingly impervious robot gunning down everything in sight in the final excellent 10 minutes. Robocop has to go up against the new model...who will win...
Well considering there was a Robocop III this is perhaps a question already answered...but then you know the good guys always win anyway :oP~~. Well anyway, is it worth watching. Yes and no(helpful aren't I). The makers obviously decided to take the humour of the original which was very definitely there, but oh so tongue in cheek and bring it to the forefront. They paint a bleak vision of the future of the world and pack the movie with cruel social commentary which is fun and has its place but perhaps not here. This movie is too violent to be funny, the two do not mix - or at least they damn well shouldn't. It makes the violence cartoonish and takes away from the overall 'action feel' of the movie. The violence detracts from the comedy aspect in turn so you get a movie which misses both marks. Giving Robocop a human side in the first part of the movie turns him into little more than a guy in a sardine can so you can't take the movie seriously from then on. His partner seems like she couldn't give a damn and really the only one who comes across well is the guy who plays Kane and he's not that great. You would think then that the special effects would be good, because the movie would have to have some major selling point. Well actually they aren't - this movies major selling point is the name 'Robocop'. Weller's costume looks decidedly plastic here which was something the original managed to avoid. The 'Kane' robot is big and menacing, but ultimately rather unimpressive in its animation - highly unrealistic. The action is ok, but rather limited other than the opening drug bust and the closing carnage which is rather good but still not good enough to rescue the movie.
Its all distinctly average I'm afraid and only worth of a 3 star rating...and thats being generous.
Advantages: Violent, like the original Disadvantages: No Verhoeven, poor script, too violent for some
RoboCop 2 brings about the return of Peter Weller as the bullet proof cop who keeps the streets clean. The story this time is set around a new addictve drug called "NUKE" that has plauged the streets of lawless Detroit.
RoboCop is unaware that his creators, OCP (Omni Consumer Products) want to take the city of Detroit "Private" and develop a new and improved RoboCop 2, a newer, bigger and far more powerful robot to replace the original.
This film ... ...watch by any means.
RoboCop 2 was a good attempt at making a good sequel but failed. It is a fairly enjoyable action sci.fi but isn't really worth the money for purchasing it.
If you are keen to see then I recommend the RoboCop Triology on DVD where you get the original, far superior movie and the third is thrown in for the hell of it.
Enjoyable but nothing compared to the original RoboCop. ...

Advantages: Are you kidding?? this film is awful!! Disadvantages: Too many to list? is that an answer?
Robocop the original was a good film, a bit heavy on the body count, but nontheless a good film, with some good satire. Its violence was excusable. Robocop 2 cannot be excused. God himself could not redeem this awful film. Peter Weller and Nancy Allen reprise their roles from the original. They must have been paid well for it.
It centers around a drug- dealer and a new highly addictive drug called Nuke. Robocop as usual goes to stop the trade, but ... ...ED-209, only worse. Awful, awful film. As usual, Robocop is smashed up, under the direction of young crimlord played by Gabriel Damon. Thats all you need to know. The rest is just blood, guns and violence.
This is a bad film, with none of the charm of its predecessor. ...

Advantages: Violent, a believable future Disadvantages: Too violent for some to stomach
truely unique and special, recreating bird like movement's when RoboCop to give that feeling that he realy is a cyborg. The man also had a lot of patience as it took him four hours to get into the suit first time plus additional makeup.
The other cast members all provide good performances as well but it is Weller who wins first prize as the portrayl of a cyborg with human knowledge and feelings.
RoboCop is truely a classic and far outdos its two sequels (RoboCop2 recreates the violence successfully but lacks the style of Verhoeven and RoboCop 3 just shouldn't of been made)
I applore anyone who doesn't mind scenes of graphic violence to catch this (prefrebley on DVD) as this (in Verhoeven's words) is a film about the cruxifiction and the ressurection of someone trying to do good in a word of capitalist corruption and violence.
Dead ...

Advantages: Fast-paced, spectacular, fairly enjoyable if your in the mood Disadvantages: Dodgy acting, weak script, little credibility and zero tension
steal money and replace them with terrorists trying to liberate a South American Dictator and leave everything else exactly as it was before. Make the explosions bigger, the gunfights louder and the body count higher and surely it can't go wrong. Right?
And in all fairness the plan worked. In an action-packed, sequel-stuffed summer facing strong competition from the likes of Total Recall, RoboCop2, Another 48 Hrs and Back to the Future 3 - Die Hard 2 ultimately came out on top. I, for one was at the front of the (fairly long) queue, and it was all jolly good fun.
10 years later however when we're all a bit more cynical of such fare, Die Hard 2 reveals itself to be remarkably weak in almost every aspect.
First of all the mere act of replacing the tower block with the vast expanses of an international airport immediately negates ...

yourself with the entire RoboCop trilogy on a spanking new DVD collection, which emphatically consigns the previous Criterion Edition to the scrapheap.
It comes with all the extra features of the Criterion disc including a commentary track from controversial director Paul Verhoeven and writer Ed Neumier, the trailers, storyboards and a 'Shooting RoboCop' feature, plus you also get a brand new documentary on the making of Robo, a handful of deleted scenes, and DVD ROM stuff. You even get the option of playing the regular theatrical version or the super-brutal director's cut, an almost unprecedented move from our friends at the BBFC!
Oh, and you also get RoboCop's 2 and 3 thrown in, but seeing as these are two of the worst movies ever made, this doesn't count for a lot. Still, considering that the whole package comes for around 28 quid ...
