When I first heard Tom Green (who is the star of the movie if you ask me) was in Road Trip and then found out what the plot of the film was I had to see this, and I was not disappointed. Road trip is more of less American Pie on wheels but better. Call me sad if you want but I was walking out the cinema singing the hilarious Salmon Song to myself, but that’s another story. The film is directed by Todd Phillips who has a cameo as a guy who licks Beth’s feet on a bus.

Anyway on with the film, the movie is basically about Josh (Breckin Meyer) and his girlfriend Tiffany (Rachel Blanchard) trying to have a long distance relationship after she goes of to the University of Austin in Texas, and he goes to the University of Ithaca. While they are apart Josh sends video letters to her in the post, but after Josh fails to talk to Tiffany for a few days because she has not been staying at her room, he thinks she is cheating on him, so when Josh’s friend E.L (Seann William Scott) throws a party he decides to go to the party and live it up. At the party is Beth (Amy Smart) who fancies the pants of Josh. So they meet up and get together and move on up to Josh’s bedroom where Beth tapes them having sex. In the Morning Josh’s friend Rubin (Paulo Costanzo) accidentally post’s that tape to Tiffany, so Josh, E.L, Rubin and Kyle ( DJ Qualls ) set out on the road to try and get the tape before it reaches Tiffany in Austin.

Barry (Tom Green) decides not to take up the opportunity to go along, and he stays at the University where he has an obsession with Rubin’s pet snake ‘Mich’ and he gets the job of feeding Mich which has an hilarious out come.

When Beth asks Barry where Josh has gone he forgets and tells her he’s gone to Boston, so she decides to go to Boston and tell Tiffany all about there relationship, which ultimately ends up ruining some poor innocent guys life, and his car.

Along the way E.L has to steel a school bus from a blind girl after there car explodes due to jumping a small river. They meet Barry’s grandparents and there talking dog, and visit a black fraternity, where Kyle gets lucky with a girl called Rhonda, and for a joke they accuse him of being in the KKK. They go to a sperm clinic to donate, much to the delight of E.L, or so he soon finds out.

The most gross out part in the movie for me is when they have breakfast at a road side diner and the waiter takes exception to Kyle’s request for no powdered sugar on his French toast. That part just beat E L.’s donation at the sperm clinic which come close.

The Movie has an excellent soundtrack with tunes from eels, Supergrass, Run DMC, Kid Rock, Twisted Sister and Ash. The DVD features a Music Video of the eels song Mr. E’s Beautiful Blues, which features the cast of the movie.

Road Trip is definitely one of the best movies of 2000, and if you like American Pie and There’s Something About Mary, you’ll eat this up and ask for seconds.

Absolutely ADORED this movie - really, really funny - better than American Pie in my opinion! Love the UNLEASH THE FURY bits!!!!! And the sperm donation - I was laughing about bits of it for weeks afterwards. Definitely a must-see - I agree. Great op. Clare

Sounds like a great film, probably not one I'd pick from the shelf but your excellent opinion sells it well. Best Wishes, Julie
