ROAD TRIP
This film has been on my 'too see' list for way too long, so last week when a mate invited me round on her birthday, I suggested that we should pop down to the video shop and get this out, so we did....

I'd been waiting a long time to see this so I was hoping it was going to be worth it, after the original American Pie came out, we expected many more cheesy efforts after such a successful and hilariously funny film, they came, American dumb assed comedies that should have been pretty good films but compared to American Pie, well basically nothing matched it let alone beat it! I had my doubts on Road Trip, sucessful or not?

THE FILM

The film begins with a tour guide, a young man who hasn't a clue giving a guide of a college, he gives the impression that he is or was a student there and later on you find out that he was. Although this man, who we find out is called Barry, hasn't a clue about all the histroy and information on the college, he does no the backround of recent passed events having been a student there, going back a few years Barry starts to tell a group of seeking collger'ers' and there parents an intruiging story about himself and his 'roomies' once upon a time...

So then the film goes back into the past to tell a tale of grusome activities, misfortune and lots of naked women, everything that went on in those long gone college years, however every now and then the film fliks back to the present so Barry can add a few words to his story! The film is set sort-of in a diary form.

To the story then...

Josh and Tiffany are a prime example of a perfect college couple, they have grown up together and have known each other for their whole entire lives, now being at college and may I mention that they have gone to two different colleges, it's that time of life when things start to get REALLY hard, what I meen by that is a couple that are young and supposedly in love at 2 different colleges meeting new people of the opposite sex and hardly ever seeing each other, only being able to communicate over phone or by writing!

The colleges are situated on 2 different sides of the country and as we see, Josh and Tiff make a pact to remain faithful to one another. As time goes on we see Josh making a recorded video of himself to send to Tiffany, he is missing her very much and has managed to avoid all temptations so far! The video is really sweet with love poems and messages and everything like that! You can see that he is TOTALLY loved up!

However we don't actually see Josh send the tape, mainly due to the fact that he HASN'T sent it, we all see Josh rush off to a class and ask a roomate to post it for him. Here is where the trouble starts...

Josh's mates convince him that something is up with his girlfriend, Tiffany for some reason hasn't returned any of Josh's calls! Josh then believes she is up to something so why not do the same to her!? So that night a BIG college party is held, Beth a young and pretty student at the uni starts eyeing up Josh and the next thing we know they are back at Josh's apartment! Beth takes a liking to Josh's video camera and she insists that if they are going to have sex, she wants it to be taped!!!

The next morning Josh spills to his roomies and they all want to see the video because they don't believe him! The tape starts and we see the video that Josh made for his girlfriend, Tiffany, thinking he has just put the wrong tape in the machine, he then finds out that his 'pal' has managed to send off the tape of Josh and Beth to Tiffany!!!

The sex tape is on its way to girlfriend Tiffany!!! Just when you think things can't get any worse, Tiffany rings and leaves a message saying why she has not returned any of Josh's calls and the reason is not as expected! Josh and his mates got it all wrong and now Josh is surely going to get the boot! Or can they manage to get the tape before Tiff does...!?

This is when the ROAD TRIP starts...

Josh gathers together his mates, Rubin, EL and the geek with the car, Kyle. They all set off to Austin, Texas. The title of the film gives away when most of the action happens, loads of stuff happens at this point, most of it histerically funny! 2 of the main things that happen without giving it all away,The car manages to get blown up and a visit to a sperm bank is in order! Sounds good hah!!??

The story continues but is the ending happy or sad, you'll have to watch to find out!

ACTORS

Tom Green: Barry ~ The storyteller and a great one at that, with his snidy comments and twisted little plots, he is just so funny!!!

Breckin Meyer: Josh ~ The loved up cute college guy, but can he manage to remain faithful to his gorgeous girlfriend..?

Rachel Blanchard: Tiffany ~ Sexy Tiffany plays a short role in the flik, with her slim, cute looking figure she looks so sweet and innocent, could she really cheat on her one, true love!? (The star named Cher in the TV series 'Clueless' which is often shown on the 'Paramount' channel.)

Amy Smart: Beth ~ The girl in the middle, another very attractive young woman whose up for a laugh.

Paulo Costanzo: Rubin ~ An added character which makes the film that much more funnier.

OVERALL

This film is worth a watch, it may not be 'best comedy of the year' and it may not live up to 'American Pie' standards but it is a decent teenage flik and hilariously funny! If you're ever stuck for a film, pick this!!! Thanks for reading everyone, cheers ~M~ :0)

Better than your average teen-gross-out-comedy, but while Tom Green was undoubtedly very good, wasn't he just a wee bit old for the part? Ah well, maybe that's just me being picky....
