Never being a huge fan of American Pie, I was unsure whether I'd like this film or not. But I went to the cinema and saw it when it was released and was completely surprised as it was so good. I then bought it as soon as it was released in the US on DVD.

You could make comparisons to American Pie, but I believe this is much funnier with a much better plot to it. Don't get me wrong if you liked AP you'll love this film too, but this seems to have something extra which, in my humble opinion, makes it far superior.

STORYLINE:

The film starts of with the character named Barry (Tom Green) who is giving a tour to some possible new students and their parents around the grounds of the University of Ithaca.

In an attempt to make the Uni. sound more fun and interesting to the bored students and parents he begins to tell them of "the greatest love story ever told"?

Josh (Breckin Meyer) and Tiffany (Rachael Blanchard) were the best of friends from when they were kids, they would go around together all the time. As they got older their relationship grew into some serious French kissing and, needless to say, heavy petting!. They seemed destined to be together forever, that was until the end of high school anyway when they faced their biggest challenge yet - a long distance relationship.

While Josh had enrolled at Ithaca, Tiffany had gone to Veterinary School in Auston, Texas. But they promised each other that they would make a pack and stay true to each other, talk everyday and maintain an exclusive relationship.

Well you know the situation, we've all been there!. The girlfriend who you made such a promise too hasn't been returning your calls, so you make a video to send her telling her how much you love her, etc. But as you're in a rush to get to class you ask one of your roommates to post it for you.

That day you friends convince you that Tiffany is not returning your calls because she's seeing someone else - so you should do the same with Beth who's been giving you the eye for a while! . So that night, at a party, you hook up with her - but she wants to make a sex tape!...don't you just hate that?!.

The next morning Josh lets on to his roommates about Beth and accidentally about the tape too, and guess what, they want to see it! . When they put the tape on it turns out to be the same tape Josh made for Tiffany yesterday. When he asks Rubin if he'd posted the tape he said he had that morning!. So Josh still had the 'love tape' but the 'sex tape' had gone!. As he's panicking, Tiffany leaves a message on his answer phone saying she was sorry for not ringing back recently but her grandfather had died and she was comforting her parents!. And she won't be back at college until her exams start (in 3 days).

So with 3 days to get travel 1,800 miles and no money for an airplane ticket!. So Josh gets himself and his roommates Rubin (Paulo Costanzo)), EL (Seann Williams Scott) and the geek with a car Kyle (DJ Qualls) and set off to Austin Texas.

This lines itself up for many comical and totally gross moments!. Blowing the car up when trying to jump a damaged bridge while taking a short cut through the country roads, stealing a bus from a blind woman (not quite as cruel as you might think!) and visiting a sperm bank when in desperate need of some cash, where EL finds out about a unique way of depositing a 'donation' !.

HUMOUR:

There is so much great humour in this film, and the actors are great at performing this. Tom Green as Barry being my personal favourite with his very odd humour that only he can pull off!!.

DVD EXTRA'S:

Deleted scene's - seven excellent scenes removed as it was thought unnecessary to the film as it would have made it far too long, but there are superb nevertheless.

Production notes - poor.

Making of Video with Tom Greening - this is quite funny 10 minute piece from the hilarious bloke himself.

Cast and Crew Biogs - never everything special these.

Music Video - the video to the excellent 'Mr. Eels Beautiful Blues' by the Eels.

CONCLUSION:

If you like the very funny, gross out film gender then I guarantee you'll absolutely love this. Fully recommended!!.

I loved this film - I watched it with a guy I liked at the time and I cackled all the way through it! Very embarrassing, but he was eating popcorn and choked at the rat/Tom Green's throat scene, so I suppose it was okay, lol. Great read x
