X-men is a great movie but some of the graphics are really bad especially on top of the statue of Liberty when Sabertooth throws Wolverine off the top and he grabs on to the spike of the crown with his claws. Some parts look really realistic though like when Senator Kelly dies and other parts made me jump a lot. If I was to give it a mark out of ten I would give it 8 because of it poor graphics but the originality keeps the score up a bit. The characters ...

The X-Men!! The most brilliant cartoon to have been seen for a long time, so when they made the film I thought 'WOW, got to see!'. Reviews were good, hype was everywhere. Advantages: Fun, Cool Effects...fairly true to Comic. Disadvantages: Needs Beast in it!!
...the comic. They needed more X-Men in it.......i would LOVE to see Beast and Jeggernaut, but I made do and found it to be one of the most fun films i have seen in a long time. Its not a film for cynics......you have to take everything with a pinch of salt.....but suspend disbelief and you will have a whale of a time. The social undertones are there too.....the exposure and hatred of mutants relating to AIDS victims and homosexuals in certain periods ...

Advantages: Wolverines Character was spot on Disadvantages: development of characters personality during the film
I have recently watched the X-Men movie and am very annoyed that my favourite character from the animated series was nowhere to be seen. There was no flash of auburn hair, destructive cards or his ability to say "you play fair, or you dont play at all"! I was also dissapointed to see that they were making Cy(I wear groovy glasses to protect others around me from my red laser eyes)clops' partner Jean(I know what you're thinking)Gray into Wolve(hold ... ...I dont think Rogue was Roguish enough to be called Rogue although they portrayed her mutant powers well. I hope her rougish characteristics are developed.
Hopefully in the sequel they will include these characters as well as the young 'Jubilee' and the intelligent 'Beast'.
Overall I did think that the film was good, especially the special effects and the fighting scenes. Mystique was excellent as the shape-shifter and did not even have to speak ...

To Start: I am a die-hard X-Man Fan!
I started reading this title some 20 years ago! I was not expecting to be impressed by this film, but I was!
It appears to me that certain purists are too infatuated with old faces to appreciate new faces. I personally thought the casting was excellent. Seeing hints of Firestar and Iceman were very nicely done.
I loved Mystique and Toad.
Sabertooth was well done and portrayed as exactly what he is and was, ... ...used ability to spew resin...
As for Magneto. Excellent choice! I take personal affront to comments such as Ian was "too gay", but chalk that up to ignorance and intolerance!
Patrick Stewart as Xavier was a fantastic choice. His abilities were just as in the comic book, understated and very controlled.
I thought Jean Grey, Scott Summers and Logan's little triangle was well done considering the time restraints.

X-men was considerably better than i expected, even my anti-sci-fi mate enjoyed it! I think it wasn't too violent for young children to see ( as many films are) and adults will appreciate the humour aswell! Advantages: True to the origins, fun, great special effects Disadvantages: Some inevitably will not like the format.
The X-men movie actually breaks the cardinal rule about big-screen remakes - it's actually good, without totally compromising its origins, or the original intentions! The film is actually really true to the spirit of the comics, and the storyline isn't too far off one that could be encountered - though the time frame has been altered slightly, but can easily be put down to artistic licence!
But don't worry, this isn't a film purely for comic book ... ...own right. It's a great special effects fest, and the characters are solid and believable, even if the plot asks us to stretch out imaginations a little.
The acting is actually very good, though with a cast including RSC trained Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, you can't go too far wrong, but they each lead bands of good actors who all-in-all produce a great team effort, and a really enjoyable film! ...
X-Men is by miles the best movie of the summer. Being a big fan of the cartoon and comic I thought this was brilliant. Although I thought it could have had more action. The special effects were average at best and I found the lack of characters truly dissapointing, the cartoon was a lot more satisifying.
