Having read the X-Men comic as a kid, I was reasonably excited to see what the film adaptation would be like. He can reel of a long list of obscure names and references even after ten pints. He knows the entire family tree of Spiderman and his many relatives. At long last my X-Men DVD finally arrived through the post from America and on first impression I have to say it is very, very nice but I'll talk more about the actual disk later. ...a whole view on the x-men story. The climax takes place at the statue of liberty. It feels a bit empty in places, the fight between Wolverine and Mystique is great but over so quickly you want more. However the fight between Toad and Storm more than makes up for it. There's even a slight nod to Star Wars with Ray Park spinning a sitck around like Darth Maul. I could go on forever with this opinion as there's so much to see but if you want a film ...

Magneto wants to harness Rogues absorbing powers for his own means and the X-Men want to take them both in to the fold. The one worry of fans with this was whether they would characterise the X-Men properly. Would Hugh Jackman make a good Wolverine? Would Professor X exhibit the right level of authority and cold-calculating intelligence? Would Magneto appear to be menacing ...
...perfect as Wolverine and I am glad that Dougray Scott was hung up on M:I 2 or we might never have seen Jackman in action. Patrick Stewart was the only choice for the bald-headed telepath and McKellan is brilliant as Magneto. X-men is about mutants, which we are told that have evolved from teenagers with high hormones. Whatever humans may think, they are really just ordinary people with cool, yet terrifying powers, which are different for every mutant. Like humans, there are bad and good ones, but naturally the government (who do have some knowledge on the new species) is fearful of them because of the chaos they could cause with their powers if they choose to do so. ...
