Advantages: good backround Disadvantages: too much backround
...be very good for an X-men fanatic, but you don't get many in england so it doesn't matter. Go and see it if you liked the cartoon, and even if you didn't. You don't really even need a basic understanding of the story line as it's all put out for you. Go and see ...

Review of X-Men (DVD)
Advantages: The special effects Disadvantages: missin charcters
...have talked seems to like X-Men and all seem to know the charcters. So when I went to see the film I was expecting it to be good. It didn't let me down one bit the film was fast and packed with speacial effects. Every scene seemed to be cramed with effects. The effect I loved the most and probably because I am biased was Wolverines claws, he by far is the most popular charcter. The film did have some down points. It was missing some things like the ...
Advantages: Well made comic conversion Disadvantages: Heavy-handed plot exposition
...comic. All of your favourite X-Men are featured… unless you particularly like Gambit, of course… Wolverine, Cyclops, Jane Grey, Storm and Rogue form the main core of the X-Men along with Professor X himself. Magneto's team is made up of Toad, Sabretooth and Mystique. Casting is pretty good, and Hugh Jackman makes a particularly good Wolverine. Professor X is played to superb effect by Patrick Stewart, whose clipped tones make him an ideal choice ... ...million!). Several of the lesser X-Men (e.g. Shadowcat, Iceman, and Jubilee) are featured briefly in the film, and their characters will most likely be expanded on in future films in the series. This, for me, is the Summer's big blockbuster, and will probably be the biggest action film of the year! I can't wait for the next installment! ...
Advantages: Special effects Disadvantages: little story line
I have been an X-Men fan for quite a few years now and when i heard they were realesing a movie i couldnt wait. When i actually saw the film i was a bit dissapointed because it was not as good as i hoped, but then what can you expect it did start off as a comic. Throughout the film the main plot is to destroy buildings, in otherwords its like demolition man in a way. Even though there is little story line here i still enjoyed watching the well developed ...
Advantages: Great Effects Disadvantages: Best bits left for the sequel
It was good, but don't believe all the hype!
Yes, the special effect are good and the plot is fairly interesting and easy to follow (what more could you possibly want?!) However…
The problem is that it has obviously been set up with a sequel in mind, so you leave the cinema feeling slightly unsatisfied (a bit like Phantom Menace - somewhat of an anti-climax!). However, although it was not all I expected it to be, it was entertaining and I would ...
Advantages: Good fun, short and quite entertaining Disadvantages: Could have been a lot better, soundtrack is boring
...'Wolverine the Movie'? The X-Men finally hits the big screen and is a decent enough film, but you can't help thinking they could have done better. Based on the comic book and cartoon series, the X-Men are a group of mutants who battle bad mutants while also facing the problem of being outcasts in society. Although this version doesn't carry many of the comic book stars, it gives you a good taste of what they're all about. And that's what this movie ...
Advantages: action, humour, romance, good acting, good plot Disadvantages:
...although I know about the X-men and watched lots of their cartoons, I have never been really into it, which made me think I might not like the film.
How wrong could I be?....I was amazed that in a film about what were once cartoon hereos, a good story line could be found, but it did. From start to finish I was on the edge of my seat, whether that was because of the rather good looking Hugh Jackman, the quick witted humour, all the action, or maybe ... ...loved it. I even cried a little at the end.
But i do think that if you loved X-men as a child then thismay not live upto expectations, but then again that is very hard to do, when dealing with characters that children have been brought up on. ...
Advantages: Good action Disadvantages: For children
...have gone to see the X-men on opening night in Tomsk. Never reading êîìèêàì, I was not going to see it with the displaced opinion based on prospective ideas from comics. The classical British actors show in film. I slightly was excited, that Patric Stewart was going the character to be pleased related to him of StarTrek NG, or that I shall see it in this ground. I very pleased to not see him in this role, he has shipped itself in a role very well ...
Advantages: Easy going, enjoyable Disadvantages: Will the sequels be as good
X-men I found was a very easy going, don't have to think to much enjoyable film. Using the comic books and cartoons as the base, a number of mutants evolving on the earth have become discriminated against, some try to get along with the "normal" humans while Magnita wants a war and turn all of mankind to become like him. There are some good fight scenes where their different types of power come into effect, and I can assure all the men out there, ...
From the TV adverts I thought this film looked great and I had to see it. I am really glad that I did. It builds up the story well, making you part of the world its set in and it helps you understand the characters. If you ever saw the cartoon then you will enjoy the film and you will definitly recognise all the characters. The special effects are great and the mutant power's effects are done brillantly. The action mean that this film is fast paced ...

Review of X-Men (DVD)
Advantages: the X-men! Disadvantages: the storyline
...Some of the best X-men characters like the Beast were missing, and the whole film seemed to be geared to the inevitable sequel franchise, with the storyline left completely open, and no crushing defeat for any of the 'bad guys'. I only hope the sequel grows in storyline, scope and action, and that it is not simply another 'half-film'. ...
Advantages: effects Disadvantages: build up but no real finale
...by the thought of an x-men film, i rushed to my local (dingy) cinema to catch it on a mid day premiere. I must say that i left quite dissapointed. There seemed to be no real, decent plot throughout and even though the effects were quite something at times, it seems as if they were building up to something big, which never really happened. I wouldn't say that this crossover from cartoon to film was the most sucessful i've seen but i suppose someone ...
Advantages: Some famous faces Disadvantages: no major ones, just a few little ones
I saw XMen earlier on tonight so its still fresh in my mind so I speak from experience. The film in not overly good but features some famous faces which always helps a film achieve some ratings. The basic plot is that some humans have evolved into mutants, which have certain powers and are being rejected by society. There are two groups of mutants ones who want to get justice and change the humans into mutants and the good guys who believe they will ...
I went to see X-Men on the opening night at Lakeside. Having never read the comics, I was not going to see it with a biased opinion based upon presumed ideas from the comics.
Classic british actors feature in the film. I was a bit worried that Patrick Stewart was going to be rather akin to his StarTrek NG character, or that i would see him in this mould.
I was very pleased not to see him in this role, he immersed himself into the role very well ...
Advantages: Believable bad guys, characters true to comic, WOLVERINE Disadvantages: No Gambit, Can't really think of any others
The X-Men movie is not your run of the mill comic to film type affair, the charachters are portrayed in a very realistic manor (i.e. as they are in the strip itself). The plot, whilst not on masterpiece of engineering, is certaining full enought to believe in and the bad guys, are anything but two dimensional comic book fare bent on random destruction or world domination. This movie is good however having said that if you have never even heard of ... ...this one is not likely to please. If you have even a slight bend in that direction this is sure;y a must see. Finally if you have been put off by strip to film in the past, then be assured that I can't remember having seen a better movie made from a comic. My one gripe is the lack of Gambit from the proceedings, but you can't have everything I guess. ...
