With Arnie on the decline, Stallone becoming increasingly more laughable and the likes of Van Damne (thankfully) disappearing off the face of the planet the way has been swept clear for someone like Vin Diesel to take up the reigns as the king of the action genre and he appears to be grasping that particular fast-track to megastardom ...

...was not exactly shocked by xXx as it turned out to be exactly that; what was shocking though was how disappointing it proved. I remember being vaguely intrigued by the pre-release hype and its somewhat arrogant billing as the James Bond for the 21st Century. No offence to my optimistic American counterparts but the idea of Vin Diesel replacing the charm and sophistication of Bond and xXx usurping the seemingly evergreen Bond franchise was enough ...

...~~MY THOUGHTS ABOUT xXx~~ xXx relied more on the action sequences than the plot. The plot is very simple and full of holes. For example isn’t the Czech Republic land locked? Why the need for a submarine? The action sequences are over the top but brilliantly executed. Although sometimes you wonder were they really necessary? Apparently the script was offered to the James Bond franchise but they turned it down, so it is not surprising that xXx pays ...
...not tough enough. Technically xXx is superior to the 007 series, simply because the technology has improved.
