Advantages: Sisto, Dushku and the occasional giggle Disadvantages: Too formulaic to be anything more than boring at times
...back from the woods, what’s wrong with their face and what’s that they’re carrying?
I feel stupid even telling you how formulaic this film is. Anyone who doesn’t read that plot summary and get a startling sense of déjà vu is obviously not a fan of the horror genre. Alan B. McElroy’s script is really ‘horror by numbers’ with the most startlingly obvious comparisons being with ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ (and a little seen but brilliant episode ... ...the unthreatening murderers, the Hicksville USA (or West Virginia as it's otherwise known) location, the stupid road tripping teens, it’s all there. In fact the scene in which the kids turn up looking for a phone is almost identical to when their 1970’s counterparts first meet Leatherface. It’s not just the script however that feels familiar, Rob Schimdt’s uninspiring and amazingly derivative direction leaves you able to guess everyone’s next move ...

Well... apparently so. Wrong Turn is a very violent, very predicable varriant of your routine slaher where; (deep breath) a group of people meet due to an unforeseeable, unavoidable accident and are picked off one by one in a predictable fashion by some unknown and evil force that either dwells there or has plans for world domination.
The film begins with two collage sweathearts on a rock climbing excursion which ends in decapitation. The two teens ... ...too convient for my liking, Wrong Turn doesn't deliver the goods that it promises.
BOTTOM LINE
Wrong Turn is run of the mill and is limited in its entertainment value. The whole inbred concept is actually quite original but the film never takes the time to go into it more, for example; who are they? Why are they like that? Why do they do what they do? etc. The opening credits give you the inspiration that this film is going to be different but ...

...escape with their lives?
Wrong Turn made quite a splash in 2003 as there was only limited advertising buzz surrounding it, due to even the tamer scenes being too 'intense' to make trailers out of and what they did show disgusted many movie goers, but to be honest I don't think this movie is all about gore. Wrong Turn succeeds where other recent horror flicks have failed because it doesn't rely on gore to scare the audience it is just there to make ... ...it. Largely the success of Wrong Turn can be put down to its location. The woods offer a wonderfully claustrophobic sense to the movie making the audience fell closed in with these characters and offers a whole arsenal of places and weapons that the mad killers can hide in and use which again works to keep the viewers hyped up and expectant.
I am pleased to say, that for a teenage horror flick the performances in Wrong Turn are actually fairly good. ...

...that forms the story behind Wrong Turn - and a very good story it is too.
There are very few films that I have seen that had the same effect on me as this one did. I didn’t find Wrong Turn frightening because it was so far-removed from reality that the fantasy provided a safety-cushion. This is a review of the film and not the DVD.
"Wrong Turn" portrays the tale of a group of 6 men and women on a camping trip. The people find themselves in the middle of a forest and get lost. This is an interesting film but it didn't really move me deeply. There was some good acting but the story line was simply not newsworthy. The editing on the other hand was top notch. I'd only recommend it if you have one brain cell.

This film really reminds me of ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’. Fair enough the mutants/cannibals do resemble Leather Face but there mutation is through years of in-breeding. Ok the film is about a group of 5 young people ... ...• My final conclusion on Wrong Turn.
My first comment I would like to make here is the first alteration that needs to be made is the title, it should be called, ‘Wrong Choice’ as to be honest it was a bad mistake watching the film. I was well and truly disappointed. I wasn’t too sure what to expect, let’s be honest the trailer doesn’t really show you much and just really wets the appetite. Gore for the sake of gore?
I don't know why I watched this movie! Horror and gore are not remotely my kind of movie. I'd much rather be sat giggling for two hours that preparing to jump for two hours. Turns out this wasn't even two hours, only 84minutes long, we were all sat there thinking that it couldn't the end yet, it needs to fill another 20minutes or so! Then again, making it any longer would just have been dragging out an already slow script, ... ...basic storyline of this movie is a group of three cannibals, living in the middle of the woods, who attack innocent passers by who get stuck in the woods of West Virginia. Of course, they are given a helping hand to get stuck, because there are various traps set around the place. If pay close attention to the opening credits (we didn't) you learn that the monsters are supposedly like that (disfigured, carnivores, don't speak English…) because they ...

...happens to Chris Flynn, his wrong turn leads to hell. No one is safe as he bands together with a bunch of teens including the very nubile Eliza Dushku. However they’re lost and they’re prey.
Wrong Turn has a very simple concept. In fact it’s nothing more that your usual gory horror film but it’s one that works purely because it keeps itself very tight and very tense. This film reminded me of the dirty old horror movies of the seventies such as The ... ...Now I’m not saying that Wrong Turn is an amazing film, it’s limited concept means it can’t reach those heights but it’s a film that was much better than I expected. For example it could have filled it’s sou dtrack with rock music but it doesn’t do that, it goes for unsettling score instead. Wrong Turn does exactly what it says on the tin and for once isn’t the sugar coated kind of horror you’ve come to expect. ...

An average bloke on his way to an important job interview is driving through some sparsely populated area in the sticks and decides to take a shortcut through some desolate woods to cut a couple of hours off his journey time. On his way he meets a group of teens that he crashed into and they begin walking to find a mechanic or a garage to fix their cars. However things aren’t that simple and there wouldn’t be much of a storyline if they did find ... ...film (not graced with any clichéd Hollywood stars, and all the better for it) that is similar to the good horror films such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It isn’t ANOTHER ‘serial killer, stab, ouch, he’s behind you, the end’ sort of film, this is bloody frightening and original stuff.
Basically the group get lost in the woods looking for someone to mend their mauled car and come across a cabin in the woods, however it is populated for inbred mutants ...

Wrong turn is a slasher survival movie set in a beautiful forest, featuring a cast of up and coming new actors/actresses, with the added bonus of the gorgeous and extremely talented Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Bring it On) giving an exceptional performance as a headstrong, determined young woman. From the beginning of the movie, suspense is created, with a grim, eerie atmosphere present throughout the movie.
When Chris is running late ... ...traffic jam, he decides to take a short cut through an old forest dirt track, called Bear Mountain Road in hopes that he will reach the interview on time. After travelling down the road for some time, taking his attention off the road for a moment, he crashes into a car left in the middle of the road belonging to a group of four young adults in their 20's. Even though this movie has a quite ordinary story I find this quite interesting, I love movies that have something out there killing people and know one understand what to do, the best of this type was Predator (1987, Arnie). Anyways as I was saying this movie can catch your attention even ... ...randomly chooses a turn, THE WRONG TURN. While he’s cruising he gets distracted with a carcass on the road and WHAMMM bangs into a car parked right in the middle of the road. The car apparently belongs to a group of teenagers stranded by a flat tire, Carly (Emmanuelle Chriqui), Scott (Jeremy Sisto), Evan (Kevin Zegers) Francine (Lindy Booth) and Jesse. Wrong turn, i love this film. It's not the best horror ever made, it's not even a classic in the making but for some reason i really like it! Might be due to the fact i'm a massive Eliza Dushku fan.. Plus to be honest i could imagine there are people out there similar to baddies in this movie.
The movie is set in West Virginia by hillbilly town!!!!
Basically the movie starts off with a couple of climbers in the woods, The male makes it up the rock ... ...As the girl climbs she loses sight of her boyfriend. After a few noises she starts calling him, then out of the blue part of his body comes into view at the top of the rock face,,, dead with blood dripping from him.
