Advantages: See opinion Disadvantages: See opinion
~ ~ Forget your John Wayne’s and your run of the mill Western movies that glamorise the Wild West.
If you enjoy cowboy films, then take a look at this offering “Unforgiven” (1992), that shows you what life was really like in the pioneering days in America, warts and all.
Directed by veteran Hollywood actor Clint Eastwood, who cut his teeth in westerns such as “Rawhide” on TV (1960’s), and spaghetti westerns like ...

...then sometimes they do!
When The Unforgiven was given what is probably its umpteenth television showing last night this was one viewer who was determined not to miss it. I can't say I've been an enormous fan of everything Clint Eastwood has ever done, particularly in recent years, but you can't deny that his presence in Westerns is the stuff of cinematic legend and this would be the only one of those which has escaped my viewing so far. As the ...

...time of its relese anyway), Unforgiven is a classic, brutal revenge story set in the old western outbacks of the developing United States of America. If you had to name one living actor associated with the slowly fading Western Genre, you would of course think of Clint Eastwood. Unforgiven is a comebak for the aforementioned genre and the west has never looked much better. Walking away with four Oscars back in 1992, not only reviecing unaminous critical ...

Advantages: Different but just as good as previous westerns Disadvantages: Poor DVD Extras
A Clint Eastwood classic, both for his acting and his direction and is definitely one of the best Westerns to be seen for the last twenty years. The plot is central to the film so I'll not reveal too much of it; suffice it to say that it is a tale of justice, murder and revenge coupled with a healthy dose of humanity. The three main characters are played by Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman, I think you would be hard-pushed to find a ...

Advantages: Acting, Plot, Photography, direction, Disadvantages: Possibly to violent at times
A Superb Western of enormous proportions under the direction of Clint Eastwood. Clint Eastwood heads an all star cast including Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman. Eastwood plays William Munny, the baddest gunslinger in the whole of the west, or at least he used to be. Now he is a farmer but some kid comes to see him to take on one last job. This is where the action begins. Apart from the great plot and acting you are also treated to some amazing scenery. ...

Advantages: brilliant western Disadvantages: hard hitting
This is a truley brilliant western showing the world a bit more in the manner of the way it is than the typical holywood film which is just pie in the sky. the characters seem like real people with real weaknesses striving for what they think is important. The film is a coarse griity one with few light moments and is not lightwieght viewing. the actors are all excellent but eastwood and hackman really shine out in their respective roles. Clint has ...

Advantages: Very absorbing, well directed and acted Disadvantages: None
Unforgiven is an immensely absorbing western about a violent killer who has to face up to his own past and doesn't like what he sees, and his hopes for redemption. Clint Eastwood's finest film as director (deservedly winning an oscar) is a dark mixture of three of his previously directed westerns - High Plains Drifter, The Outlaw Josey Wales and Pale Rider, in the process creating a better film than any of these. It also boasts his best performance ...

...was invincible, so when the unforgiven begins and you see Mr Eastwood as a run down pig farmer, to me it was an unwelcome shock. As the film develops though you understand that it is a very necessary part of the film. The movie is packed with stars including Gene Hackman and Morgan freeman, each and every one of them giving an outstanding performance. I have watched this film over and over. I'm not going to describe the whole film scene by scene. ...
