Heeeellloooo Baaabbbyyyy....

Advantages: Great Story, Great Cast, Great Soundtrack...
Disadvantages: A lot of swearing / blood / violence may put people off.

...as if it were a true relationship. Christopher Walken is, in my opinion, one of the best actors of all time. His is normally typecast as the "baddie", and that is no different in this film - but he adds a unique "class" to the role. He plays the role of Vincenzo Coccotti in a very charasmatic way - you never know quite what is going through his mind, or what he is going to do next. He also plays off other actors performances, such as Dennis Hopper. ...
...! The story for True Romance was written by, none other than, Quentin Tarrantino - although there is an ongoing dispute over this. Tarrantino used to co-write scripts with R. Avery. The screenplay was originally part of a much longer screenplay, from which True Romance represents about half of it. The other half was made into "Natural Born Killers". Tarantino actually sold the script for a minimal amount in order to fund his own film, "Reservoir ...

...are involved as well. True Romance is an excellent movie that contains action as well as some funny moments. Some of my favourites include the conversation between Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper, the scene on the rollercoaster and the scene with Alabama and the corkscrew (if you’ve seen the movie you’ll know what I mean – if you haven’t, watch out for them!) Some of the scenes are quite violent, but it is all within ...
...is not gratuitous violence for the sake of it. And through the whole film is the underlying theme of the romance between the two main characters – it works so well because you know that they are doing what they are doing out of their love for each other. The performances from Slater and Arquette are outstanding. The chemistry between them works really well and the characters are very believable. Slater comes across as quite streetwise, but ...

"You're so cool!"

Advantages: Great cast, script, story
Disadvantages: Some characters only have a few scenes

...wrote the script to 1993’s True Romance, he didn’t direct it himself, he gave it to slightly less cool director Tony Scott (Top Gun, Enemy of the State). Why would he pass up on the opportunity of adding this quirky, funny and mind-blowingly cool movie to his CV as a director, making a round five? It’s not known. What is known, however, is that True Romance helped cement QT’s genius as a writer and, upon first watching, became ...
...the drug underworld. Most of True Romance’s brilliance is down to the script, which, in the same style as Tarantino’s other masterpieces, is peppered with movie references and Pulp Fiction-esque random cool sayings that would never work in real life – ‘Okie dokie doggie daddy’ being one. Possibly the best thing about True Romance, however, is the characters. Every one, down to the smallest, is a fully-rounded, slightly ...

Advantages: Great Story, Strong Cast
Disadvantages: Film Overall Lacks Depth

...brilliant mind of Quentin Tarantino, True Romance carries the usual extreme violence and sharp, quotable, angry dialogue. Clarence is a true comic-book geek who just happens to get lucky with a call-girl who has a heart of gold. The action, from the instant of their meeting, is fast paced and often frenetic, it's a blur of bullets, edgy meetings and brutal violence. Clarence and Alabama have some depth to their personalities, but not much (since ...

The highlight of the film for me was a twenty second interrogation scene involving Chris penn and Tom Sizemore, taking the mickey out of the bad cop + badder cop scenario. True Blood would have been a better Title

Advantages: If you like bloody movies, watch it !
Disadvantages: Much too violent, the plot is awful directed

I am really shocked that so many people recommend this movie. I think that 97%(!!!!!) from them recommend it. I'm really wondering why? For its violence? For a Quentin Tarantino screenplay? I don't know why. My opinion is in completely contradiction with the overall opinion: this movie wastes a lot of great actors on a very bad screenplay. And let me explain why in the follows: - the action: a normal guy, Clarence(who is, by the way, a little dumb...he ...

Than, he has an obsession: to kill Alabama's ex-pimp (played by Gary Oldman). We can see Morgan Freeman for a while, but not too much (he is killed, of course..) So, Clarence goes to Alabama's ex-pimp and after a fight, he kills the pimp, ...

brilliant cast and storyline

Advantages: brilliant cast and storyline
Disadvantages: not one

This has to be one of the most underrated and unheard of films in existence. The title suggests that it is a mushy love story but the fact that it is written by Quentin Tarantino guarantees something more. The cast of the film is brilliant and includes people like Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Val Kilmer, Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette. The storyline is superb and with the cast just mentioned, the quality ...

...Dogs and Pulp Fiction, but True Romance has to be the best Tarantino film around. (with the possible exception of "From Dusk Till Dawn") True Romance stars Christian Slater as Clarence Worley, a lonely comic book shop worker with a passion for films and an unhealty obsession with Elvis(Val Kilmer). Clarence meets and instanlty falls in love with Alabama Whitman(Patricia Arquette). As the story proceeds the two manage to accidentally get their hands ...

One of the finest scenes in the film is when Clarence's dad(Dennis Hopper) tells the moster looking for his son and the cocaine(Christopher Walken) how Sicilians are "spawned by ...

Crash Bang Boom

Advantages: Fast, funny, furious - and boy, is it Violent!
Disadvantages: Swearsome, and a feminist nightmare.

True Romance comes from the clapperboard of Tony Scott; fresh from Top Gun, and the pen of Quentin Tarantino, fresh from… his day job in a video rental. It's the film that got Tarantino noticed and enabled him to make Reservoir Dogs, and although it's dated since the last time I saw it (only three years ago), it's still an exhilarating way to spend a few hours. On DVD the picture quality is much improved, and the sound is crystally and pretty. Except ...
...Now when I first saw True Romance I was but a wee nipper of 15, and naturally I thought it was the greatest thing ever. It had swearing, drugs, violence and swearing! And it was funny, too. Gary Oldman in particular - his turn as a psycho drug dealer who thinks he's black (he isn't, fact fans) is nutty enough to be funny and creepy in equal doses. But everyone in the cast does well - particular kudos to Christian Slater as the main character, Clarence, ...

tarantino's Masterpiece

Advantages: Tarantino's work at it's best.
Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted

True romance is a must see by any Quentin Tarantino fan. His usual blood baths, guns and gangster type themes are portrayed in a truely different light in this film, and even offers a light hearted love feeling to the whole screenplay. Brilliant performances from lead stars christian slater and Partricia Arquette, but extra credit has to go to the ever changing Gary Oldman for his white man who thinks he's black, gangster part. ...make one incredible film. But True Romance did just that. Okay, it's not exactly the greatest film of all time, come on now. It's just a fun movie to watch, especially if you're a film buff. With each turn, a new superstar emerges and delivers one of his/her greatest performances in a great long while. ...greatest scene in the film? Come on. You know what it is. The Hopper/Walken scene! Yes! While it's certainly crude and offensive and not found in your average Disney flick, this scene is the gem of this 2 hour romp. I can't really say what it's about, but it's really incredible how well the chemistry between two great actors and one helluva script come together. the truth is to dare on dvd

Advantages: great cool dialougue and performances
Disadvantages: nothing really

True Romance is considered by many a cult film of the nineties. It wasn't seen by mnay on it's theatrical release but has since found it's audience on video. The film is a warped love story that features two lovers (Slater and Arquette) who end up with a siutcase of cocaine and journey to LA to sell it to a big movie producer. Problem is that the cocaine belongs to a mob boss and he wants it back. The script was written by Quentin Tarantino and his ...
...direct it. There's a lot of cool dialougue that referances old movies and pop culture. It's also got a large cast of recognisable faces. In minor roles are peoples such as Tom Sizemore, Val Kilmer and Brad Pitt. It has gunplay, some nasty violence but at it's heart is the relationship between it's main characters. The dvd is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen. The picture quality is quite good but not the best you've seen. There's very little ...

A Disgustingly Funny Film

Advantages: Christian Slater's acting, coherent plot.
Disadvantages: Hard to follow in places.

True romance is one of many spectacular Quentin Tarrintino films. Made in 1993, this film is fairly old, but don't be fooled by this. This film still lives upto mondern expectations. The film stars Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette as two newly weds who become invloved in a battle with the mob and the police as they travel from Detroit to Los Angeles with a suitcase full of cocaine. The film has an exciting plot that moves fast from begining ...

Overall the film has some stunning action scenes and contains some razor-sharp wit, with excellent performances from all the cast. The film has an 18 certificate and is 113 minutes long. I would advise any fans of Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs to watch ...
