Advantages: Superb, funny, serious, makes you think Disadvantages: None
In my list of films, this is joint top with the Italian Job (readers gasp with amazement).
No, it's not about Trains, it's about life with drugs and what they do to you. Does this sound boring? well it's not. Go out and rent it or buy it now.
The best scene has to be Spud in the morning at his girlfriends house (watch it and you'l see what I mean).
This film changed my perspective on other movies. I now have a new standard, which so far, no other ...

Advantages: Superb plot that puts out a message Disadvantages: not for the squeemish (needles etc)
Blood rushes as the drug enters the body. The head becomes heavy and emotions highten, then it hits you like a train, and you are in the land of dreams.
Ewan McGregor stars in this cult hit based on sex, drugs and money as Mark Renton. It is based in Scotland, more specifically around a group of individuals all in the same situation. They are Heroin users. Mark is the main character, narrator and even features in the soundtrack! he is telling the ... ...We follow the group as they meet, take drugs, take time out to relax and shoot dogs with air rifles. We meet Digby, a violence loving mad man who treats women like dirt. We meet Spud, a useless individual who cannot fit into the crowd ( he is also a little thick) We meet Mark, who is trying to give the drug up, but cannot, and we meet the femme fatale, who Mark meets, and ends up bedding only to find out she is a school girl! Some of the other stars ...

Advantages: Great if you want to learn about drug abuse. Disadvantages: Not a particularly great film.
...eat my train ticket!
Trainspotting was not what I thought it would be and that is both good and bad. What I was expecting was a stylistic, dark film about drug use and it effects on the lives of some "Scottish blokes." What I got was a not so stylistic, dark look at the effects of drug use on some "Scottish blokes." I thought I would be more impressed with the effects and the drug use scenes and feel as though heroine use was glamorized a little. ... ...to be upbeat about in Trainspotting save for a pseudo happy, ending that left me wanting to call everyone I consider a friend and confirm that relationship. I didn't want a moral; there are too many of those films anyway; but I would like a point. If I could find one in Trainspotting it would be a dark spot hidden amongst the shadows. Take that for whatever you will. I wouldn't say I was necessarily disappointed in this movie, but I will say it could ...

...at the time at a Trainspotting showing- she sat next to me and looked absolutely distraught at the more depraved scenes. A quick conversation about the film on the way out and she goes can I have your number please and away you go..is it really eight years ago??
Anyway, this was THE film of the mid 90s for most people. I have seen it more times than I could count even if my limited mathematical ability allowed me to. Advantages: Great characters and script Disadvantages: Many great parts of the book left out
If you've read the book, you prabaly won't be as pleased by this film as those that haven't read it. I, however saw the film before reading the book, and thought that it was great. It's about a group of people in Edinborough, some of them are heroin addicts, such as Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor), Spud and Sickboy, Begbie, however is just a psycho who likes nothing better than a few beers, then beating someone up. The story revovles around Mark Renton's ... ...doesn't go into his dole fraud that he makes money from in the book. There isn't really a story as such to follow until towards the end of the film, it's just a bunch of stuff that happens. It's only in the last part that the film follows any traditional structure, with some of the boys deciding to do a big drugs deal and make a lot of money.
It's a very entertaining film, with a great script, and fantastic characters, I'd recommend this to anybody ...

Having watched Trainspotting a few times, I’d recommend it to anyone, it’s the story of Renton and his gang who fall victim to drug abuse, their day to day struggle to feed their habit. And of course all the things they have to do on the way to pay for their drugs. They want to come of drugs but find it hard.
It’s a film, which really is packed, with energy, the storyline centres around a group of so called friends, who are different ... ...set in Edinburgh and follows the lives of Mark Renton and his mates, they each are losers in their own rights. As the film progresses they each go their different way, some are heading to self destruction but Renton has the ability to change but will he.
As we watch Renton go through withdrawal it hits home the real affects of drugs, the film illustrates this and when he decides to chose life, it illustrates just how difficult that was. The soundtrack ...

this film is basically about the lifes of some blokes and their sex and drug experiences. all the way through the film they are taking something or sleeping with somebody and it is actually quite a funny film to watch.well, i liked it any way! i ould not advise any one to put one of these guys foward as their role model unless they want to go on route one to depression, and then jail. in fact, you should judge how NOT to live your life on this lot ...

Advantages: Not many although the last 10 minutes are thrilling. Disadvantages: Ewan Mcgreggors bad acting and very bad directing of the subject
...but I was dissapointed. Trainspotting features Ewan Mcgreggor playing the part of 'Renton' - The story is about Renton rehabilitating himself from his drug addiction and this could have been a very intersting story indeed had it not been blistered with pointless bad language and some ridiculous scenes of dialogue from Johny Lee Miller who keeps talking about how great Sean Connery is in every scene he gets the chance to. The movie tries very hard ... ...advertising for this film it does look it. Even though Ewan Mcgreggor needs acting lessons (See how terrible he is in 'The Phantom Menace'.) he isn't bad in this (He isn't great either.) - One scene of dialogue is shamelessly lifted straight out of 'Gregory's Girl' (A far superior film.) and the movie doesn't really do anything original with the serious subject matter. If you want to see a powerful and cool drug themed movie I suggest you watch 'The ...

Advantages: Soundtrack is fantastic Disadvantages: None
Fast moving, clever, witty and yet quite depressing, the script of this film is very interesting. it basically charts the demise of drug users and tries to give an insight to the life of drugs. This is brilliantly done, and the use of humour brightens up what would otherwise be quite a sad film. The acting is this film's strongpoint. It is seamless from start to finish. Ewan McGregor is here at his best, Robert Carlyle is the convincing bad guy and ... ...brilliantly directed (naturally, as it is a british film!). The best bit for me is the part where Ewan is going cold turkey and he is hallucinating. I could never imagine what it is like, but I think it’s pretty well done. This is a kickass film. The soundtrack is fantastic, the screenplay is fantastic. Why wasn’t there a sequel! ...

Advantages: EXCELLENT MOVIE BASED ON IRVINE WELSH'S BOOK Disadvantages: Do not watch with a quezzy stomach
Renton (Ewan McGregor) begins this box office smash by saying: "Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television. Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers." Renton is a heroin addict that struggles to overcome his habit, constantly running from the law, and eventually from his friends to try and start a new life.
The most shocking incident was when a baby, that lived ... ...swallows it. It’s later discovered by its mother, as she screams hysterically running around the house.
The others stand over the cot and just look in silence, the baby overdosed on heroin, its stiff body lay there.. like a dead little doll, as if it were gasping for breath.
It leads up to a typical junkie style of living, no money, no hit… rob.. more money.. a hit.
With a few robberies and a violent Begbie (Robert Carlyle), they find ...

Mikey forrester in trainspotting is Irving Welch who wrote trainspotting. If you have read the book you will notice that a lot of it has been left out in the film. Still the film is a darn fine bit if cinemography!! you can watch it time and time again and not get bored. It gives a true image of the scottish drug scene, so I have been told by some Jocks!!! A bit worrying that. The actors all carry their respective roles off exceptionally well and ...

What can I say? I've seen it a few times and probably in some sort of morbid way, fond of this film. The characters seem to be there for you to either love or hate. I found myself pitying them rather than finding them grotesque.
The thing about the baby...well that was hard to watch, but if it only opens the eyes of one young woman to the harm she could be doing herself or her siblings, then the film makers point will have gotten across.
There ...

Advantages: A good british film that deals with a hard subject, very well. Disadvantages: Too gory/gruesome for some.
Trainspotting is a modern classic film to put it bluntly.
It's use of drugs as the main theme and all the misery and poverty that they cause. With some classic characters like Begbie, a nutty scottish thug, Spud, a harmless, easily-led chap to name but a few.
A lot of people said that this glorified drugs, to an extent that may be true but if you watch the film entirely you'll see the hurt, grief and failure that it brings with it.
This is a well-made ...

Trainspotting, based on the book of the same name by Irvine Welsh, tells the story of Renton, a young Edinburgh junkie and his odd band of friends. This film was accused of glamourising drug addiction but this simply isn't the case. We see the protagonists is desperate states as their addiction takes hold, and there is nothing glamourour about Tommy's eventual death from aids. Ewen Mcgregor is good in the central role, as is Robert Carlye as Begbie, ...

Advantages: A great film to watch. Disadvantages: It's a bit long.
Trainspotting was originally a book, but seeing as I've only seen the film and not the book, I can't really comment on how similar they are. You'll need a strong gut to watch this film, it doesn't brandish an 18 certificate for nothing.
It's a fine example of a "British" film, although certain aspects of it were in Scotland. It's basically about a gang of smackheads, living life on the edge running from police and wondering where their money and ... ...(is that how you spell their names?) put in spectacular acting performance, as do the rest of the characters. The storyline is fantastic, as is the musical score. What is most impressive about the film however is the fact you know this kind of thing goes on in real life, but you never thought about it enough or didn't accept it. It's a fantastic film, and I'd certainly watch it again. ...
