Titan A.E. is not a bad film, in fact it's often enjoyable and always watchable, it's just that it seems to be so misjudged in its conception you wonder why anybody was surprised when it tanked at the US box office. It tries to place itself somewhere between the whimsical cuteness of Disney and the hyper-violent, techno-insanity of Manga, but it never seems quite sure exactly who it's target audience is. I went to see this film without knowing anything about it beforehand- sometimes a better thing to do. I was grabbed and involved in the story from the start, and my 8 year old daughter had no problems following it. She also was entranced by the graphics, scenes and general feel of the film.
