...nineties, in my opinion, was Thelma and Louise. All aspects of the film are wonderfully done. The acting. The directing. The writing. There’s nothing missing in it. All the boxes have been ticked. It’s been labelled many a time as a chick flick, which totally lowers it. What Thelma and Louise is, is a film about independence. About love. Not sexual love, but the love you can feel for a friend. Most films don’t concentrate on this ... ...scenario that has become tiring. Thelma and Louise was a classic film way before it’s time. And that’s just one reason why it’s one of the best films not just of the nineties, but also of all time.
◄◄The Plot►►
Thelma and Louise are the best of friends. Louise is a carefree waitress, and Thelma a fed-up housewife. She’s stuck in a dead-end marriage with a husband she hates. So, when Louise suggest ...

Advantages: Hugely enjoyable, great performances, beautiful photography, a breathtaking and liberating ending Disadvantages: Some improbable plot twists
Ridley Scott's THELMA & LOUISE was released in 1991 to an unprecedented level of uproar against the film's chauvinist preoccupation, but how much of it is true? Louise talks her best friend, bored housewife Thelma, into packing together some bags and taking off for the weekend. Notwithstanding her overbearing husband's wishes for her to remain at home like she's expected to, Thelma agrees and, leaving him a microwave dinner and a beer, she joins ... ...one too many drinks and Thelma gets involved with a charming cowboy who in one moment, like a gentleman, escorts her outside to the parking lot for air and in the next moment forces her onto a car to have his way. Louise appears, physically and emotionally shaken by what she's seeing, and yielding a gun orders him to pull up his pants and back away. With his pants pulled up he willingly backs away, but not without some verbal backlash, which results ...

Advantages: Great characters, great cinematography and dialogue Disadvantages: Male characters are all nasty?
Thelma and Louise: before I watched this film I knew very little about it, other than the Simpsons parody of it when Marge runs off with her friend for a wild weekend. But if it gets a Simpsons parody, it must be good, right? My theory was proved correct, since I found it to be a really interesting, well-directed and ultimately entertaining film. It's the film that helped kick off girl power when the Spice Girls were still at school, and it's part ... ...a weekend break. However, Thelma (Geena Davis) is forbidden to go by her slobbish husband, so she sneaks away while he's at work, leaving a note attached to the microwave. Thelma just wants to make the most of her freedom and have some fun, but when she ends up getting raped by a man at a bar, Louise reacts violently and shoots him dead. The pair soon realise that they must leave their past lives behind them, and go on the run from the police, in ...

Advantages: Great lead actresses, funny & a brilliant story Disadvantages: None whatsoever
Thelma & Louise is an American road movie that was released 24th May 1991 & happens to be one of my favourite films. It runs for approximately 129 minutes & is rated 15. The film was made on a budget of $16,500,000 & grossed an estimated $45,360,915 at the box office. Thelma & Louise was an instant success, the critics simply had nothing negative to say about it.
Thelma & Louise is directed by extremely accomplished director Ridley Scott who I’m ... ...Blade Runner & Alien.
Thelma & Louise steers away from the norm, being that the lead characters are played by females. Thelma is played by Geena Davis who’s appeared in: The Fly, Stuart Little & Tootsie. Louise is played by Susan Sarandon who’s married to Tim Robbins, she’s appeared in films including: Stepmom, Dead Man Walking & Little Women. Brad Pitt co-stars in what was his first big role, I’m not going to tell you about Brad Pitt… because well… ...

...(Susan Sarandon) and ditzy housewife Thelma Dickenson (the adorable Geena Davies) both feel trapped by their respective boyfriend (Michael Madson) and husband (Christopher MacDonald), so decide to throw off the shackles of their everyday lives and go on a girls-only road trip together for two nights. Thelma and Louise (Davis and Sarandon) are stuck in their dead end jobs in the middle of nowhere….Davis is particularly stuck as her overbearing husband doesn’t like her to go off and do her own thing so when the girls head off in the car for a holiday he ain’t too impressed and Davis begins to come out of her shell.
The girls come to a bar where they have a few drinks and Davis gets taken outside buy a ... ...both heartfelt and very funny, Thelma and Louise was a pretty groundbreaking movie for casting two women in a typically guy scenario….it works wonderfully.
The action heats up all the way through to the somewhat ambiguous finale/twist. This ending (which I won’t spoil for those who haven’t seen it) is seen to be one thing or the other by viewers…I’m pretty strong in what I believe happens, which makes the film all the ...

I think Thelma and Louise did live up to my expectations with having more depth to the plot than originally though. It was a plot which had a lot of messages to it and shows that not everything in life goes according to plan. It is also a story about friendship and how out of everyone your friends will always be there for you and to not let life hold you down too much. Definitely a good film to sit and watch with all of your friends or ...

Thelma (Geena Davis), is married to a chauvinistic pig who likes to control her every move, and Louise (Susan Surandon), works as a waitress with a boyfriend, they’re both planning a vacation.
Thelma left a note for her husband saying that he can put his dinner in the microwave and left with Louise for a much needed holiday.
Everything was fine, until they stopped at a bar and Thelma became drunk with a guy trying to take advantage of her, ... ...to give themselves up.
With Thelma & Louise fearing a murder charge and having to spend the rest of their lives in prison, they both decide not to… give themselves up, and drive the car over a cliff.
It’s a great rebel like movie which raises some questions about law ascertaining to self defence, if someone is trying to harm you and you accidentally kill them while protecting yourself… would it be classed as murder or self defence? ...

...really do love this movie. Thelma and Louise (susan sarandon and Geena Davies) are two run of the mill bored house wives that decide to go for a little road trip. I loved this film, not least because Brad Pitt takes part and gives Geena Davis a $ 6000 orgasm. It is the ultimate female road movie. These girls are so cool and I enjoyed watching them get wilder by the minute. Their car rules and you can almost imagine ...

this film is not for blokes. ok girls get all your friends around, get a couple of bottles of wine in and some nuts and sit and watch how great emancipated women are. as for the blokes just turn it off and go down the pub. it is a tedious portrayal of womens lib and them breaking free from the shackles of inflicted female identity and men and going off in a car. that is about it. when they drive off the cliff into the canyon at the end holding hands ...
