Advantages: Complete season, and decent features at an amazing price Disadvantages: where's my game?
The X Files, one of the defining science fiction programmes of my late teens, the series that nurtured my love of all things supernatural, is, on paper a strange mix. As we follow the lives and cases of two FBI agents as they delve into any case that can't be explained (or solved) by conventional means, we learn of a huge government conspiracy involving aliens, of all things. By using a minimum of special effects, and the maximum of creative filming, ... ...which are actually human. The whole series is darkly atmospheric, often the only on-screen light comes from a pair of torches being flashed in a pitch black tunnel (silver foil is used so there is just enough reflective light to see our heroes' faces.

Advantages: Overall excellent episodes, perfect casting, excellent special features Disadvantages: Outdated special effects, a few bad episodes

Bold strides were taken with the writing for many of the episodes - with strange concepts such as killer fungus ("Firewalker"), a human-flukeworm hybrid ("The Host") or even the crazy carnival episode "Humbug", new strides are taken with ideas no one would have ever thought of before. ...

Advantages: Fantastic price Disadvantages: Would have liked a few more features
I had not watched the X files for some years, however with the sudden demand for TV titles being released on DVD I felt this had to worth another viewing.
25 season two episodes for a less than £20 is a real steal, and you would have to be very foolish to miss this.
My initial fears that the series would look dated were put at ease almost immediately, and the series is still superior to most television shows today.
For those who missed the X files ... ...are cases investigated by the FBI that remain unsolved due to unexplained reasons. Special Agent Fox "Spooky" Mulder has made it his life work to investigate these claims even though it has damaged his reputation. Mulder believes that these cases are usually as a result of the paranormal. Mulder is assisted by Special Agent Dana Scully who with her medical background believes that the answer to the cases can be explained by science.
During the first ...
