...english kids can relate as the main character is american but the school she goes to is english and has a mixture of nationalities e.g irish etc. The story line is a bit over the top but is a kind of extreme reality. For example many parents split up and the child doesn't like mum or dad's new partner and so does not talk or ignores the new 'step' mum or dad.
