The Wedding Singer has been labelled as a 'period romantic comedy'. This is technically true, as it is set in the 1980s, but anyone expecting a comical version of 'Pride and Prejudice' will be disappointed! In many ways, this is not a typical Adam Sandler movie either, with a large number of one-liners overshadowing his usual blend of character (and often physical) humour. Drew Barrymore also gives a great performance, although the clapping thing ...
...really gets on my nerves. The humour is great, and the soundtrack contains a number of memorable ? 80s hits. Brilliant. Sadly, the DVD isn't quite on par with the film, suffering from some brief pixellation during certain scenes. That said, it is still an improvement over the VHS version. Although this is now nearly ten years old and I have watched it too many times, it is still an excellent film.
