...I got completely lost in the whole thing. Drew Barrymore (*prrrrr*) plays the wonderfully innocent Julia whilst Adam Sandler puts out a cracking Robbie. The film is great, it's a comedy, it's a musical, it's a romance. When the film finished I wrote a song, then watched it again. If you haven't seen this film then you are missing something in your life (a video player or something maybe?) and you should seek help in your nearest video store immediately.

Advantages: funny film Disadvantages: little in the way of extras
Mention the name Adam Sandler and peoples faces will either light up or turn sour. Some love his dim-witted backwards characters well others like myself can't stand them. However this film is an exception to the rule for one main reason. Sandler is very restrained and doesn't speak with a stupid voice and has no physical impedements. He plays Robbie Hart, a wedding singer who is at the top of his profession until he's stood up at his own wedding. ... ...the entertainment at other peoples weddings by turning up drunk. Then he meets a sweet waitress (Drew Barrymore) and forges a friendship that allows him to help her plan her own wedding. Naturally there is romance and things don't go the way either intended. BUt it's all for the good with a wholsome ending that everybody will love. The film is also very smart in it's humour. It's set in the 80's where guys wear Miami Vice clothing and rock music ...

...and a cool gig in the mid eighties. Life is great until his lady dumps him. He's crushed and his career as a weeding singer goes down the toilet as he sinks into a depression that includes listening to The Cure. Sounds like a great depression. Anyway, a young girl named Julie (Drew Barrymore) helps him to get his life back together. The only problem is that she is engaged to a smug yuppie loser. So what's going to happen. Well, like in most eighties ... ...even if it takes the help of Billy Idol!
Not the most original story in the world, and the chemistry is only OK between Drew and Adam, but its really all the eighties jokes that make this film so very funny. People have niches and dress in styles. People dress up like "characters" like Madonna, Don Johnson, Boy George and even the guy from Flock of Seagulls. The combination of an awesome soundtrack and '80s clichés, not to mention great acting (Steve ...

The Wedding Singer
The film itself….

The love of his life Linda, his fiancé, ditches him on their wedding day leaving only a note to tell him it over… ... ...marring her “loving” fiancé…
The casing of the DVD
If you are searching for this DVD in the shops, then the front cover has a picture of Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. With bright red text saying “The Wedding Singer” with an age 12 rating.
The bottom of the casing says “ He’s gonna party like its 1985”
My Opinion
I love these 2 working together – Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore. They fit together like a puzzle. They have excellent qualities. ...

Advantages: Strong cast Disadvantages: Too obvious
...enjoyable.
Adam Sandler leads the cast in this romantic film set in 1985 about a wedding singer who falls for an engaged waitress. Her fiance being a womanising idiot they soon form a very strong bond and friendship that nearly ends in tragedy. But this is a typical film with nothing new to the basic story line so you can guess the ending. The soundtrack is brillient for any fan of eighties music with tracks from Culture Club, The Police, Billy ... ...obvious in places but the quirky bits and the performances make up for that. Could do worse than to watch it although it's not a film everyone will want to rush out and buy. I did and I would watch it again but others will hate it. ...

...are romantic comedies. Star of the cast is the hilarious Adam Sandler, sporting an 80's style Mullet hair do, and the story is based around his yearning for love and marriage...so much so that his job is singing at weddings! However, when his fiance leaves him standing at the altar everything goes wrong and the only light in his life is his soon-to-be-married friend Julia (Drew Barrymore) who waitresses at weddings. Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD)
The eighties were an ugly decade. I mean really. This was the decade that brought you those pencil-thin ties, shoulder pads and white. Not anything specific that was white. Just white as an all-round wardrobe hue. Did you hate that stuff too? Great. You’ll love “The Wedding Singer”. Adam Sandler is remarkably good at a certain kind of movie; the stupid but funny kind. Fortunately, that’s the only kind of movie he ever stars in. Therefore, it shouldn’t ... ...whose entire life goes on the skids when he is left standing at his own wedding. The experience transforms him into a monster, bent on destruction; both of the weddings he sings at and himself. That is until he meets Julia (Drew Barrymore).. do I need to go on? Didn’t think so. OK, so the story is predictable. So why watch it? Well, apart from being great fun and tremendously amusing, the music is superb. You may need to read through that last sentence ...

...role suits him down to the ground, if like me, you revelled in evrything about the eighties, then you are going to love this film. Playing on sandlers aggresive comedy, there is also a fair amount of slapstick employed here, none of which is overpowering or offensive. I can watch this movie time and time again, and it still makes me laugh even though its a few years old now, drew barrymore has never looked sexier, and Billy idol makes an appearance, ...

Advantages: A lovely nostalgia trip Disadvantages: None whatsoever!
The Wedding Singer is 97 minutes of pure unadulterated nostalgia.
Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore lead a talented cast on a riotous trip down memory lane. The year is 1985 and wearing one glove is one of the fantastic fashions waiting to remind us all of how we used to dress when popping out for a boogie at our local discotheque. The hero of the story is Robbie Hart (Sandler), the ultimate master of ceremonies, who warbles away at other people weddings ... ...his very own wedding. Enter the lovely Julia (Barrymore), a hapless but well meaning waitress who without realising it, becomes the focus of Robbie’s romantic attentions.
The only problem is that Julia becomes engaged to the swaggering Glen, a George Michael/Don Johnson look-alike whose idea of romance is a new VCR. Just about everyone can see that Robbie and Julia are absolutely meant to be a couple, apart from the unlikely duo who stumble ...

Advantages: Funny Disadvantages: Somtimes a big boring
...floozy dumps poor Adam at the altar. Adam meets the goddess. We know this is fiction, because there is no way in my dreary world of reality that idiot gets Drew Barrymore. Adam plays a very good depressed angst man. His rendition of Love Stinks is soon to be a classic. If you grew up in the 80's, you'll be downright pummelled with memories. This film bombards you with 80's nostalgia. I neglected to mention many people dressed as their favourite hipster ... ...the Flock of Seagulls Guy, and, of course, Madonna. Cameos by Billy Idol make for a giggle fest. The plot is nothing new. Boy gets dumped, boy meets new girl, new girl is taken, new girl falls in love with boy, boy gets girl. Overall a film worth seeing. ...

The Wedding Singer is another old movie that was released quite a while ago, I had to watch it twice to understand it fully. This film is suitable for children around 11, as these ages and up will probably enjoy it the most. This story is about a wedding singer who falls in love with someone, but she is getting married to a scumbag, and so he realizes he cant have her, and does not bother with his career, then all turns out well, and the girl falls ...

Advantages: Adam Sadler at his best. Disadvantages: If you don't remember the eighties your not going to get half of the jokes!
Where were you in the Eighties?
This film apart from being light hearted, predictable, sad, funny, emotional and well basically typical Adam Sadler is very, very eighties.
There are so many eighties jokes and references to the eighties in this film that if you are not old enought to remember the eighties fully then you might not enjoy it. To mention just one, there is a remark about CD players (before records became extinct) which is hilarious.
... ...it or hating it is made. When you make your own decision it is gauranteed you will not just think "that was ok", you will love it or hate it.
The sound track to this film is absolutely fantastic and Adam Sadler actually sings on most of the tracks. ...

The wedding singer was released on 13th February 1998
This film is a very funny film about love and the loss of love as well, Robby Hart (Adam Sadler) is a wedding singer in 1985 he is the ultimate master of wedding and other ceremonies until he was stood up at the alter by his future wife devastated, he become a newlyweds worst ever fear, having a wedding singer who can do nothing but upset other peoples weddings.
Its not until he met up with ... ...he tried not to.
At the end of the film I found was the best bit of all Julia was on the plain with her future husband Glenn (Mathew Glave) And Robby chased her to the air port to stop her from marrying Glenn but only seats they had left was first class so he borrowed some money off of his best friend and rushed on to the plane when he realized that his beloved was on the same plane with Glenn heading for Las Vegas to have a quick wedding but Robby ...
