I Love the 80s

Advantages: Great music and 80s nostalgia
Disadvantages: Sandler doing the same gags he always does

...be leaves him standing at the altar, his life and career is thrown into turmoil as he becomes depressed. It's not until newly acquainted Julia (Drew Barrymore), a waitress at wedding receptions, talks Robbie out of his doldrums by getting him to help with her own wedding preparations. But as they spend time together Robbie starts to get feelings for Julia, as she starts to doubt the man she is engaged to marry is right for her. ►►► ...
...faced comedian by the name of Adam Sandler whose humour brought joy to millions, well a few hundred people, but over the years it became apparent that infact Sandler was a one trick pony and all his films were very much the same. Thankfully before anyone got tired of his repetitive acting and juvenile comedy he delivered one of the most enjoyable films to come from the 90s, that being the hugely funny "The Wedding Singer" a romantic-comedy set in ...

The Hair Doo's Were Really Dodgy Back Then.

Advantages: Great music you can sing along too (if your old enough) Funny script with lots of romance thrown in too.
Disadvantages: Well if you didn't like the 80's music, then this may not appeal to you. You might be shocked at the dress sense, lol.

The Wedding Singer Well here I am with another movie review. I have seen many an Adam Sandler movie but my favourite has to be this one. Not only is it funny but it has loads of musical hits from the 80’s which I love. I was surprised at how well Adam can sing too – he really gets into the songs and when the movie was finished I noticed on the credits that he’d actually helped write a few of them too so he’s a man of many ...
...~~~~~~ THE PLOT ~~~~~~ If you haven’t seen this movie you might want to just gloss over the start of this as I am about to reveal quite a bit of the plot but I’m sure it won’t spoil it for you! Picture the 80’s or 1985 to be precise! Loads of dodgy clothes and dodgy doo's (hairstyles), but the music was great wasn’t it? Adam Sandler plays the part of Robbie Hart, a wedding singer. Which obviously means he sings at ...

Do You Really Want To Hurt me

Advantages: funny, feel good 80's film
Disadvantages: none that I can think of

...unfortunately for me we split the day after my birthday and I never get this video. Weirdly enough I never did get round to buying it. I gave up smoking recently, well about 3 weeks ago now (This is quite a frequent occurrence with me and something I don’t have a problem doing, I find it very easy as Dan will vouch), well my treat for not smoking at the moment is a DVD, so when I popped into HMV today and saw their special offer of 2 for £20 and ...
...LOL, here’s my op on the Wedding Singer, Mel xxx • What’s the Film About? If I said a wedding singer you’d hit me right? Well, it does centre really around 2 characters, Robbie Hart who is a wedding singer and Julia Sullivan who is a waitress. Julia is engaged to Glen and is wondering if she is ever going to get married. Then Glen springs it upon her to start sorting the wedding out as it’s time. Robbie is due to be getting married and is stood ...

No sex please, it's the 80s

Disadvantages: You might cringe when you realise that you used to look and dress like that

...you are still living in the 80s. * And those of you who wish you were, put your hands up too. Well, if you are sitting in front of your computer with your hands raised then The Wedding Singer is the next film you should see as it is definitely a tribute to the wonderful(?) decade known as the 1980s. [Note: It would also be enjoyed by those of you who were too young to remember exactly how cheesy the 80s really were and only know of it by the BBC2 ...

The story is set around Robbie who lives in his brother’s basement, gets paid in meatballs by old ladies for singing lessons and spends his weekends trying to pacify feuding families at wedding receptions. When Julia is taken on as a new, but not very ...

Sing, Sing, SIng

Advantages: Better than you might expect
Disadvantages: It's the 80's all over again

...In my case this is the situation with 'stars' such as Martin Lawrence and, more importantly today, Adam Sandler. Sandler hasn't ever done anything to offend me personnaly but his films seemed to appear by the bucket load and the media were constantly 'ooo'ing and 'ahh'ing all over him. Then The Wedding Singer appears in the TV listings. So while Mrs TheNeil prepares for an evening of 'entertainment', Mr TheNeil gathers a large stack of paperwork ...
...has fallen far from grace. The days of playing to sell out stadiums are long gone and he and his band are now reduced to singing at weddings. Not to worry though, Robbie is great at his job and the people love him. Of course the fact that he's about to get hitched himself doesn't spoil things in the slightest and even the appearance of beautiful waitress Julia can't distract him from his bride to be. Shame that she calls it off and leaves poor Robbie ...

...have you got? That's right, The Wedding Singer, a romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. I can already hear some of you tearing your hair out and screaming NO! SO 80s and SO funny

Advantages: A great feel good film, brilliant sound track, set in my favourite decade!
Disadvantages: None!

The Wedding Singer is one of my all time favourite films, so I just had to write an opinion on it here on Ciao, even though it came out a few years ago now! The film is set in 1985, which is one of the main things I like about it, being a bit of an 80s child, and loving anything nostalgic relating to that decade. The central characters are Robbie Hart (Adam Sandler) and Julia Sullivan (Drew Barrymore). Robbie is a singer who lives in his sister’s ...
...started a job waitressing at the venue where most of the town’s receptions take place, and befriends Robbie. Julia is also engaged, to Glen, who is a stockbroker, a Miami Vice fan, and basically a bit of a bastard! Robbie then gets jilted at the altar by Linda and falls into a deep depression, continuing to sing at weddings but sabotaging them as he can’t bear to see other people’s happiness. Through Julia’s friendship he gets back on his feet, and ...

This film spins me right round - the wedding singer

Advantages: Funny and lighthearted , great characters
Disadvantages: None

In my opinion The Wedding Singer is a fabulous feel good film. I first watched this film back in 1999 when I purchased it on VHS. It was one of my favourite films and more recently I purchased this on DVD so I could watch it again. The story of The Wedding Singer is based around two main characters. One of these is Robbie Hart who is the best wedding singer in town. He is happy, uplifting and always manages to save the day at weddings even when the ...

Robbie turns from a happy go lucky guy into an angry and bitter man. This doesn't stop ...

The wedding singer!! Amazing film!

Advantages: Hillarious film with Sandler and Barrymore.
Disadvantages: None!

This was the first Adam Sandler film I ever watched when it first came out in 1998, I remember my sister having the film on VHS and we used to sit there watching it every time I stayed at her house. And ever since its been my all time favourite film. The Plot: The film is about a wedding singer Robbie, who is getting married himself, until his fiance breaks up with him on their wedding day, and dumps him at the alter...or just leaves him standing ...

But, as Julie starts to realise she is falling in love with Robbie, and she thinks he feels the same...but as in all Romantic Comedies, things mess up, and Julie goes off to marry the cheating Glenn. As always I am not going to ruin the film by going into the rest of the story line but that gives you a brief going over!!! And there is a will she ...

...likeable romantic comedy which follows the usual Hollywood formula. Set in the 1980’s, Sandler is Wedding Singer Robbie Hart, who falls for waitress Julia (Drew Barrymore) after himself being jilted at the altar, with the only problem that she herself is due to be married to her long-term partner in a few weeks time. If I said that her partner was a jerk and she falls for Sandler as well, and it decends into a will they, won’t they scenario, ...

Where were you in 1985...

Advantages: A fantastic feel-good film
Disadvantages: Painful memories of bad hair and white clothing

The eighties were an ugly decade. I mean really. This was the decade that brought you those pencil-thin ties, shoulder pads and white. Not anything specific that was white. Just white as an all-round wardrobe hue. Did you hate that stuff too? Great. You’ll love “The Wedding Singer”. Adam Sandler is remarkably good at a certain kind of movie; the stupid but funny kind. Fortunately, that’s the only kind of movie he ever stars ...

Well, apart from being great fun and tremendously amusing, the music is superb. You may need to read through that ...

Wedding singer - Mediocre career, average film

Advantages: Some good jokes about the 80s
Disadvantages: Not enough Steve Buscemi

...helps if you either like the central character, or if you share the joke about him being a bit of a likeable loser. The story, basically a romantic comedy, is all rather predictable, and gets even more so towards the end. Hart’s job as a wedding singer is seen as a sell-out, he’s put forward as someone whose school report probably said “could do better”. Nowadays he’d probably be seen as pretty successful, but then ...
...doing. A lot of the film centres around being miserable, and making do with second best, you know the kind of thing. There are plenty of jokes about the 80s, when it is set – complete with horrendous fashions and hairstyles. The soundtrack consists mainly of 80s songs too, and some of them are pretty dire songs, but they are actually given a new lease of life in this film. The version of “Do you really want to hurt me” (I liked ...

So I went into The Wedding Singer not knowing what to expect, I came out fairly satisfied. An 80's Romance you will never forget

Advantages: The great sound track
Disadvantages: It ending

When you think of the 80's you think of bad haircuts and dodgy music, however after watching this film I have to say my views of the 80's have altered some. This film made me apprieate what was loved by so many people however I thought was some weird phase, as I myself had never actually lived there. She played the part beautifully showing the audience her true love for Sandler through out the film. Also in this film Steve Buscemi plays a brilliant drunken best man who takes an interest into Adam Sandler, he gives some very good lines and scenes with Adam. This whole film was entertaining with a few twists which will take ...
