I Love the 80s
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by christianfilmcritic

Advantages: Great music and 80s nostalgia
Disadvantages: Sandler doing the same gags he always does

It's not until newly acquainted Julia (Drew Barrymore), a waitress at wedding receptions, talks Robbie out of his doldrums by getting him to help with her own wedding preparations. But as they spend time together Robbie starts to get feelings for Julia, as she starts to doubt the man she is engaged to marry is right for her. ►►► ... Read review

The Hair Doo's Were Really Dodgy Back Then.
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by niclemamy

Advantages: Great music you can sing along too (if your old enough) Funny script with lots of romance thrown in too.
Disadvantages: Well if you didn't like the 80's music, then this may not appeal to you. You might be shocked at the dress sense, lol.

The Wedding Singer Well here I am with another movie review. I have seen many an Adam Sandler movie but my favourite has to be this one. Not only is it funny but it has loads of musical hits from the 80’s which I love. I was surprised at how well Adam can sing too – he really gets into the songs and when the movie was finished I noticed on the credits that he’d actually helped write a few of them too so he’s a man of ... Do You Really Want To Hurt me
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by Miss_BooBookitty

Advantages: funny, feel good 80's film
Disadvantages: none that I can think of

...unfortunately for me we split the day after my birthday and I never get this video. Weirdly enough I never did get round to buying it. I gave up smoking recently, well about 3 weeks ago now (This is quite a frequent occurrence with me and something I don’t have a problem doing, I find it very easy as Dan will vouch), well my treat for not smoking at the moment is a DVD, so when I popped into HMV today and saw their special offer of 2 for £20 and this ... Disadvantages: Scary hair do's!, weak plot

...can’t afford to go to the cinema (everyone say “awwww”!). Now I know most of you will have already seen this, either when it was released in 1998 or last night on BBC1. No sex please, it's the 80s
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by starry

Advantages: Great, feel good, funny film with a brilliant 80’s soundtrack
Disadvantages: You might cringe when you realise that you used to look and dress like that

...you are still living in the 80s. * And those of you who wish you were, put your hands up too. Well, if you are sitting in front of your computer with your hands raised then The Wedding Singer is the next film you should see as it is definitely a tribute to the wonderful(?) decade known as the 1980s. [Note: It would also be enjoyed by those of you who were too young to remember exactly how cheesy the 80s really were and only know of it by the ... Read review

Sing, Sing, SIng
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by TheNeil

Advantages: Better than you might expect
Disadvantages: It's the 80's all over again

...In my case this is the situation with 'stars' such as Martin Lawrence and, more importantly today, Adam Sandler. Sandler hasn't ever done anything to offend me personnaly but his films seemed to appear by the bucket load and the media were constantly 'ooo'ing and 'ahh'ing all over him. Then The Wedding Singer appears in the TV listings. So while Mrs TheNeil prepares for an evening of 'entertainment', Mr TheNeil gathers a large stack of paperwork and ... Read review

I Want To Grow Old With You
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by dchurch

Advantages: It's everything that you could want from a film set in the 80's.
Disadvantages: Did we really wear that stuff!!!!

...have you got? That's right, The Wedding Singer, a romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. I can already hear some of you tearing your hair out and screaming NO! But wait, give this little gem of a film a chance and you may well be presently surprised. Sandler plays Robbie Hart and there are no prizes for guessing he is a wedding singer! Robbie is a genuinely nice guy who not only sings at weddings but teaches old women how to ... Read review

SO 80s and SO funny
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by Pumpkin

Advantages: A great feel good film, brilliant sound track, set in my favourite decade!
Disadvantages: None!

The Wedding Singer is one of my all time favourite films, so I just had to write an opinion on it here on Ciao, even though it came out a few years ago now! The film is set in 1985, which is one of the main things I like about it, being a bit of an 80s child, and loving anything nostalgic relating to that decade. The central characters are Robbie Hart (Adam Sandler) and Julia Sullivan (Drew Barrymore). Robbie is a singer who lives in his sister’s ... Read review

This film spins me right round - the wedding singer
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by wendz86

Advantages: Funny and lighthearted , great characters
Disadvantages: None

In my opinion The Wedding Singer is a fabulous feel good film. I first watched this film back in 1999 when I purchased it on VHS. It was one of my favourite films and more recently I purchased this on DVD so I could watch it again. The story of The Wedding Singer is based around two main characters. One of these is Robbie Hart who is the best wedding singer in town. He is happy, uplifting and always manages to save the day at weddings even when ... Read review

The wedding singer!! Amazing film!
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by stephbond89

Advantages: Hillarious film with Sandler and Barrymore.
Disadvantages: None!

This was the first Adam Sandler film I ever watched when it first came out in 1998, I remember my sister having the film on VHS and we used to sit there watching it every time I stayed at her house. And ever since its been my all time favourite film. The Plot: The film is about a wedding singer Robbie, who is getting married himself, until his fiance breaks up with him on their wedding day, and dumps him at the alter...or just leaves him standing ... A Cheesy Classic
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by wampyrii

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

...likeable romantic comedy which follows the usual Hollywood formula. Set in the 1980’s, Sandler is Wedding Singer Robbie Hart, who falls for waitress Julia (Drew Barrymore) after himself being jilted at the altar, with the only problem that she herself is due to be married to her long-term partner in a few weeks time. If I said that her partner was a jerk and she falls for Sandler as well, and it decends into a will they, won’t they ... Read review

Where were you in 1985...
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by WembleyFraggle

Advantages: A fantastic feel-good film
Disadvantages: Painful memories of bad hair and white clothing

The eighties were an ugly decade. I mean really. This was the decade that brought you those pencil-thin ties, shoulder pads and white. Not anything specific that was white. Just white as an all-round wardrobe hue. Did you hate that stuff too? Great. You’ll love “The Wedding Singer”. Adam Sandler is remarkably good at a certain kind of movie; the stupid but funny kind. Fortunately, that’s the only kind of movie he ever stars ... Read review

Wedding singer - Mediocre career, average film
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by radamson

Advantages: Some good jokes about the 80s
Disadvantages: Not enough Steve Buscemi

...helps if you either like the central character, or if you share the joke about him being a bit of a likeable loser. The story, basically a romantic comedy, is all rather predictable, and gets even more so towards the end. Hart’s job as a wedding singer is seen as a sell-out, he’s put forward as someone whose school report probably said “could do better”. Nowadays he’d probably be seen as pretty successful, but then ... Read review

You can't talk to Billy Idol like that!
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by Flash-Hammer

Advantages: Amusing, feelgood,Billy Idol, good cast
Disadvantages: A bit predictable and sugary sweet

...opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot. To be honest, I'm not all that big an Adam Sandler fan. I don't dislike him or his movies, I just don't seem to have seen very many. So I went into The Wedding Singer not knowing what to expect, I came out fairly satisfied. The movie is set in a small town in America in 1985, where Robbie Hart (Adam Sandler - Happy Gilmore) is a well-respected Wedding Singer. He is well liked and set ... Read review

An 80's Romance you will never forget
Review of The Wedding Singer (DVD) by Yankee_tam

Advantages: The great sound track
Disadvantages: It ending

When you think of the 80's you think of bad haircuts and dodgy music, however after watching this film I have to say my views of the 80's have altered some. This film made me apprieate what was loved by so many people however I thought was some weird phase, as I myself had never actually lived there. Adam Sandler is one the of the most talented and funniest actors on the circuit at the moment, and I love all his movies this one especially. I feel ... Read review
