Advantages: Sarah Parish, funny in parts Disadvantages: Poor portrayal of England, Debra Messing wasn't strong
I quite like watching the occasional chick-flick movie, one I don't have to exercise my brain with when I'm watching it, and one I can just sit back and enjoy. So when I saw the Channel 4 would be screening "The Wedding Date" on Sunday at 9pm, I stuck it in my Sky planner so that I wouldn't forget to watch it. I had a quick browse online for some reviews, and most weren't overly positive, but I thought it was worth a try, as it was either watch that ... ...The Wedding Date begins by introducing us to Kat, a young woman living in New York City in a gorgeous apartment. Advantages: Fun, easy to watch Disadvantages: Some people may not like the predictability
...on offer and because of the two lead actors who I have always liked I decided to bite the bullet and buy it. I am very glad I did really as it is a pretty good film.
The film was written by Elizabeth Young and Dana Fox and directed by Clare Kilner.
The story:
Kat is successful and living in New York. However she is still single and when a trip beckons to London to attend her half sister Amy's wedding, she needs a date to take with her and fast! ... ...also happens to be the best man and so she hires a gorgeous escort named Nick to be her 'boyfriend' for the trip at a huge cost of $6000! The family are shocked to find she has bagged herself such a gorgeous man but, will it all come out who he really is?
The cast:
Well as I mentioned part of the reason I was drawn to buying this film was because of the two lead actors and so I hoped they would be able to make the film an interesting watch. I was ...

Advantages: comical elements Disadvantages: nothing extraordinary
...impressive or extraordinarily romantic in The Wedding Date, it is a movie which I would recommend for some light entertainment and just the right dash of romance. Starring Debra Mesisng and Dermot Mulroney, the plot is about a single woman who is invited to her parent's home for the wedding of her little sister. However, catastrophe arises when Kat (Mesisng) realizes that her ex fiancé would be attending the wedding too. Not wanting to lose face ... ...escort to accompany her to the wedding and pose as her boyfriend. The thing is, Nick is even more attractive than she anticipated... If you read my previous reviews, you will see that for me, the two most important elements in a movie remain the acting and the "feel good factor". Even if a movie does not have a happy ending, I still need that feel-good factor which tells me that I have just indulged in one of mankind's most popular form of diversion- ...

Advantages: The chemistry between the charecters comes across very well. Disadvantages: Quite predictable.
The Wedding Date is a brilliant romantic comedy about Kat Ellis who travels home from New York to London for her sister Amys wedding. Kat decides she cant face going to the wedding alone and with her ex fiance being there it gives her an addded reason to take a partner.
The film starts with a very worried overly anxious Kat trying to get hold of her date who is a very desirable male escort Nick. They finally meet on the plane to London to begin ... ...while joining in with all the events Amy and Ed have planned for the wedding party. Kat has a turbulet ride in London with loads of ups and downs where she eventually finds herself and figures out what is the best path for her to take her life down.
I would class this film as a romantic comedy as there is romance in the air at every turn with quite a few smoldering moments between different charecters, although it wasn’t absolutely hillarious there ...

Advantages: Great Rom Com. Great characters. Disadvantages: It's quite cheesy.
In this movie, the lead role, Kat Ellis, is played by Debra Messing, who has also played Grace in Will and Grace on channel 4 and Living Tv. The charming escort Nick Mercer is played by Dermot Mulroney, who has appeared in a few episodes of friends, the movie About Schmidt and My best friends wedding. I think these actors create great chemistry between the two characters in this movie.
Movie plot:

Advantages: very funny, with some great twists along the way Disadvantages: you end up wanting to slap the ex boyfriend
By the movie trailers, you could be mistaken for thinking this is a typical 'chick flick', but once you watch the film, you will find that it appeals to men as well due to teh humour involved. my husband loved the film, and has watched it two or three times now.
Debra Messing plays a great part(Kat), as the older sister preparing to attend the younger sisters wedding. her ex boyfriend is going to be the best man, and she wants to show him what he's ... ...the USA, while the wedding is to be at the family home in teh UK. unfortunately, Kat is single, and doesn't want to attend the wedding on her own, so she resorts to hring a male escort to accompany her.
the film gets of to a great start, and Kat doesn't get to meet her 'date' until she is on the plane. This is where you get to mee Dermot Mulroney as Nick, who is a date with looks and a sense of humour.
The film manages to show an aspect of life ...

...with someone, it will do the trick and leave you wanting more of what the film has to offer. Debra Messing is wonderful as Kat Ellis and I think we have all at some stage in our lives been in Kat's situation but not had the nerve to arrange an escort to accompany us. Debra and Dermot have a real chemistry that is almost sizzling. Mind you his is sizzling to look at anyway! They are accompanied by a wonderful British cast and it is so good to see ... ...the magic of what is truely going on. Debra Messing also gives a good commentary on the film in the features section which left me chuckling with my glass of wine.
I would recommend it to you whether you are male or female, I think we can all recognise either ourselves or someone we know in it. ...

...mind.
Debra messing plays the main character, a woman who is going to her sisters wedding, and needs to show her ex that she has moved on.
She hires a £6000 escort, in the shape of Dermot Mulroney and at first it is a clear escort/client relationship, although you can tell that they seem a bit over familiar from the start.
Gradually they become more a couple than a 'couple' and they go out for real, meanwhile at the wedding, the usual family facades ... ...his best mate.
Although the focus has gone from stirring it in front of her ex, to actually being focused on her escort boyfriend, theres a big scene as she finds out everyone knew about the 'cheating' and she runs off, escort man runs off, then comes back again with the groom, after imparting advice, once the groom finds out, yet still goes ahead with marrying the sister.
Its not a bad film but it doesnt explain itself well. First we dont know ...

...a feel good film from the start and the funny jokes and one-liners really appeal to my sense of humour. Its a film you can watch over and over again, and if you like films like My Best Friend's Wedding and Pretty Woman, I would definately recommend it. It is not, however, a "chick-flick" as the humour appeals to both men and women.
The film follows the story of Kat Ellis, who is invited to her younger, half-sister's wedding. Kat is single and living ... ...he will be there as the best man and so takes desperate measures to make him jealous by hiring an escort! Nick is the perfect gentleman and is oh-so-sexy and soon Kat finds herself falling for him. Meanwhile secrets that everyone except Kat seems to be aware of begin to be unearthed...
