Advantages: the film is real classy Disadvantages: a sad ending
...hitting, realistic fight scenes. The Warrior, Musa in Korea, is a period movie set in 14th century, that actually tells the story of China from a different view point, which is refreshing.
The film centres around a group of Korean diplomats protected by a band of Korean soldiers. However in the group is 3 main central characters. The main hero is Yeo-Sol, played by Jung Woo-Sung, Choi Jung, played by Joo Jin-Mo, an upper class, general, who is very ... ...all the men look up to. Yeo-Sol is a slave of one of the elderly diplomats. So this diplomatic envoy is on a mission of peace to see the Ming emperor. Upon arrival they are greeted by a very frosty reception, and are surrounded by Chinese soldiers. Sadly they are considered as spies and are arrested. Whilst being transported by prison wagons, the wagons are ambushed by Mongols that slay all the Chinese guards, but leave the Korean alive. However ...

When i saw on the front cover that Zhang Ziyi was a leading character in the Warrior i thought "it must be good". Unfortunately the film was quite to the contrary. The battle scenes were outstanding and gory, but there's simply too much. This is the main focus of the film, not the plot.
The Warrior was just that. He killed everything with a pulse. There was little focus on the characters - their history, background etc. By the time you think you ... ...everyone dies, which was very depressing and not heoric.
I despised Zhang Ziyi's role as a spoilt and weak princess. I had little sympathy for her and found her pathetic. Such a waste of a very talented actress.
Too conclude this film was not defiant, inspirational or memorable. Big disappointment!!!!! ...
