Lost in Transportation

Advantages: Old fashioned humour and Hanks at his best.
Disadvantages: Catherine Zeta-Jones and her character are a disappointment

The Terminal is rather a strange film, it doesn't really have a strong plot, and it is more of a gentle, sometimes whimsical tale about a man who becomes stranded at JFK airport. The man in question is Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks) who having come to America on a mission, which is divulged as the film progresses, finds himself in no mans land due to a coup in his homeland of Krakozia. With his country no longer recognized by America he is forced by ...
...goes on, and having made the airport his home he becomes a permanent thorn in the side of immigration official Frank Dixon (Stanley Tucci) who is trying to become the next airport commissioner. I have to admit that the whole concept of the film seems very far fetched but then sometimes life is stranger than fiction, especially when you learn that The Terminal was inspired by the true story of Merhan Nasseri, an Iranian refugee who in 1988 landed ...

Advantages: Funny, heart warming, fantastic acting from Tom Hanks
Disadvantages: Catherine Zeta Jones disapoints.

The Terminal A Story of Waiting A little bit of background first. In 1988, Merhan Nasseri landed in Paris Charles de Galle Airport. A refugee from Iran, he was trying to get to England, but his papers were stolen and so he was not permitted to leave the airport. So he stayed in the airport and made it his home, as he was considered "stateless" by the authorities and had no other choice. As of 2004, when this film, based loosely on his experiences, ...

Famous for some amazing films like E.T, The Goonies and the Indiana Jones films, this is a film which doesn't smack of Spielberg straight away, and in fact, you probably wouldn't know you were watching a Spielberg movie unless you looked very closely at the box first! The film tells the story of Viktor Navorski, ...

...home, but he can’t leave the airport either. He is forced to stay in the international transit lounge until the situation resolves itself. He makes the best of it by learning English, befriending the staff and falling for an air hostess. If you think the story of a man living in an airport terminal is far-fetched, think again. The story was inspired by an Iranian man named Merhan Karimi Nasseri who arrived at Paris’ Charles De Gaulle airport without ...
...But of course the story has been appropriated by Steven Spielberg, so it less about the hardships of being trapped in limbo and more a life-affirming fable about the strength of the human spirit and the ingenuity of a man stranded by circumstance. Spielberg’s aim is obviously to make a Capra-esque feel-good film. To achieve this end, he has mixed the cream of the Hollywood crop with an appealing bunch of largely unknown supporting actors to create ...

Having now watched it, I urge any of you under the same impression to give it a go. It's light-hearted and funny, with some marvellous acting and a good collection of subplots that keep it going. THE TERMINAL - A TOUCHING STORY OF A MAN

...and me decided to check the new Steven Spielberg’s THE TERMINAL. As a big fan of his work I could say that this film is really great one. Let me first tell you a little about the story. Its very simple and it could happen to everyone – you prepare your language, buy your return ticket and take a plane to some place you always wanted to go. And suddenly you are stuck in the airport. Moreover you need to survive there, while some people decide what ...

THE TERMINAL is based on a true story of Merhan Nasseri, a refugee from Iran who was forced to stay at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris in 1988 after his passport and refugee papers were stolen. He stayed there for years, just lost in the crowd and when he was allowed to leave, he decided to stay in the terminal, and probably he still lives there. ...

The Terminal is acclaimed director Steven spiebergs 22nd film and also one of his best.Consdering that most of his films[Jaws,ET,Schilnders list] are classics,it shows just how good the Terminal is.His last 2 films both in the scifi genre AI[2001] and minority report[2002] were both intense and heavy going in places. However in the terminal Spieberg has lightened the tone without losing the serious side of the story. He has also added some nice humour ...

The Terminal-An outstanding film from Spielberg

Disadvantages: A tad slow

The terminal is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta Jones.Do I need to say more to tell you that you NEED to watch this film? With the dream of entering US and also the strife to continue living inside a terminal with no service at his disposal ...

The Terminal – a heart-warming drama about an ordinary man in extraordinary circumstances, who tries to make the best of his situation and succeeds in a very good manner. A Kracotian man, Victor Navorski (Tom Hanks), is stranded in an airport terminal due to a coup in his country and he’s forced to live there for many months, since his country’s new government was not recognized by the international community and so his papers were no longer valid. ...

The character of Tom Hanks amazes by his power of accepting the situation of a stateless man who does all he can to cope with it in order to survive. He’s a good person, compassionate and coming from a poor country, used with the hardships of life, never complaining, just doing his best. What impressed me most is his reason for such a long trip ...
