The Sweetest Feeling

Advantages: Cameron Diaz, Gross Out Funny, Good For A Laugh
Disadvantages: Bad, Bad Film

...who is an expert at the rules of dating. She has stopped looking for Mr. Right and started looking for Mr. Right Now. She loves dancing and is at a good place at the moment. Courtney is an ultra sexy, self centered and arrogant chick, who is also looking for the same as Christina, Mr. Right Now. She gets men right where she wants them and then devours them. Jane sadly is not as such a great place in her life. The minute she gets a man, she becomes ...
...flat Jane is lying on the sofa crying her eyes out, over another man that has left her. The other two decide that it would be a good idea for them to take Jane out to a club. When they get there though, Jane stays miserable, and the other two end up looking for hot dates, leaving their sad friend to fend for herself! ‘Accidentally’ Christina ends up pinching some guys ass, and they instantly get off the wrong foot. ...film review, this time it's the turn of The Sweetest Thing, starring Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate and Selma Blair. -- Plot. -- The film is about 3 flatmates - Christina, Courtney and Jane. To help Jane get over her latest dating disaster, the girls go out to a club one night where Christina meets the man of her dreams. Sweet and Fluffy

Advantages: Funny in parts and easy to watch
Disadvantages: Some embarrassing scenes, poor jokes and messy

Having read the other reviews of The Sweetest Thing, I had to stand up for it - it really isn't that bad. In fact, I'd go as far as to say I don't regret buying it on DVD! Alright alright, stop heckling... THE STORYLINE Christina Walters (Cameron Diaz) is not your usual thirty-something singleton. Unlike say, Carrie Bradshaw of Sex And The City, she isn't searching for Mr Right. She has left a trail of heartbroken men in her wake, and insists she ...
...talk, Christina demonstrates and grabs the arse of a blond man, and orders him to dance with Jane. He refuses, and a bitchy argument ensues. This man, Peter (Thomas Jane), tells Christina a few home truths about her behaviour and she is shocked at his accuracy. She soon switches on the charm though, and feels they have a connection. Shaking it off, she puts it down to her alcohol-intake and tries to forget him, especially as he comes from a small ...

Tune In, Gross Out, Turn Off

Advantages: A few amusing moments,The lovely Ms Diaz
Disadvantages: Tired, lazy and generally unfunny

The Sweetest Thing is a comedy that stars Cameron Diaz and instantly you get the idea that this is one of those light rom com movies that don't amaze but don't offend either. You know the kind of movie that you don't admit to liking even though you do. Well this movie adopts the crass humour that the likes of American Pie and Something About Mary took all the way to bank. Sadly this is a film where it's too little and far too late. Diaz stars as ...
...man Peter (Thomas Jane) and the day after she wonders if Peter is actually the guy she should give a chance to. So with friends in tow, Christina tries to find Peter and try and discover if love is really the 'Sweetest Thing'. Now this sounds like a perfectly acceptable plot for a decent movie but this decides to go into the sexual comedy routine with full gusto. We're talking full on dance numbers that involve male genetalia, crude lesbianism as ...

The Unfunniest Thing

Advantages: Cameron Diaz flashing again, its a very short film (thank god), You get to see Christina Applegate (for fans of Married with Children)
Disadvantages: Stupid! Crap! Not Funny! Its out on DVD

...film is release here in the UK. Being head over heels with Cameron Diaz and wanting to see the girl that was once Kelly Bundy in the infamous Married with Children, I eagerly waited for this to be released here in the UK. It’s been at least half a year since it was released in the US, and it’s even out now on Region 1 DVD! Was it worth the wait? NO. A captial N and a capital O, NO! I know a lot of film critics panned this to death and it flopped ...

Advantages: cast of 'A List' babes
Disadvantages: not funny, not witty, not clever, not worth watching

...males will flock to see the movie – tongues hanging out far enough to obscure any rational train of thought. That is, I assume, the reason why this flimsy romantic comedy (I use that word in it’s mildest form) by ‘Cruel Intentions’ director Roger Kumble actually got as far as a mainstream release. I must confess that having seen a poster and later on a trailer for this film, I thought it would be worth a laugh and the odd ogle or two. No harm in ...
...love lives - ‘Sex and the City’ style. That plot line alone should make for an interesting movie as that particularly TV Show has become a huge and popular hit on both sides of the Atlantic. Throw into the mix, possibly the one Hollywood actress who would put male bums on seats solely for her looks, in Ms Diaz and there you have it – surefire box office hit. Ooops – well, on with the plot. I might as well tell you what it’s about, because you probably ...

Sort of Sweet

Advantages: Cute
Disadvantages: Unmemorable

The Sweetest Thing The Sweetest Thing is a cute, romantic comedy chick flick. It was released in 2002 by Columbia Tristar. It features three friends and their lives basically. They are pretty much party girls and enjoy going out to bars, drinking and hooking up with cute men (sounds like a regular Friday night!!) Now, I did like this movie but I would not call it a classic, ie a chick flick that I would need to or want to see again and again. In ...
...that was how they wanted the characters portrayed, as bar hopping girls who are a little bit crazy. For example some of the crude scenes involve talking about a certain "dodgy stain" on a dress from a night out and the various sizes of men's anatomy!! It stars Cameron Diaz as Christina Walters, Christina Applegate as Courtney Rockcliffe and Selma Blair as Jane Burns. They are actually really good friends in the movie and it's nice to see their relationship ...

The rudest thing - I have ever seen

Advantages: Great casting, very funny
Disadvantages: Script, Plot

...Plot: Christina Walters (Diaz) is the ultimate party girl. She doesn't want Mr Right, but Mr Right Now. Every guy in San Francisco has a story to tell about her. The ultimate man eater she uses them and throws them away - sobbing to camera. She lives with her lawyer friend Courtney (Applegate) and love-obsessed Jane (Blair.) When Jane gets dumped by her latest fella the girls decide to go out on the pull to forget about him. At the club Christina ...
...she realises he might be the one drives across the country to see him again. As she turns up at the wedding she realises it wasn't his brothers big day, but Peters she had crashed. DVD extras: As this is quite an old release in DVD terms it doesn't have that many options. The two featurettes are quite good giving an insight into the single girls mind. The trailers and biography sections are pretty bog standard stuff too. Overview: This sounds ...

The stench is unbearable

Advantages: Maybe for the boys

...film, and I thought that the cast line up looked pretty impressive, so decided to give the film a try. It is billed as a comedy/chick flick, and stars Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate and Selma Blair, who are all far too young, far too slim, and far too damn gorgeous for my liking! I decided to watch it whilst hubby was on the computer in the same room, and within 5 minutes of it starting, I got the comment, "What crap are you watching now?" . I ...
...and just let me enjoy the film. Well one of those things happened, and it was not the latter!! The title of the film could not be further from the truth, this film stinks!! I hate to give the game away so early, but it is true, and I only kept watching it as I begrudged the money I spent on renting it! Cameron Diaz plays Christina Walters, a woman in her thirties, who has left many a good man quivering in her wake, after attracting them, letting ...

Just another gross-out comedy?

Advantages: Fairly amusing, and a penis song!
Disadvantages: May not appeal to all. Not much substance.

...really, this should appeal to the girls who think it makes a nice change to see the girls getting up to mischief. And should appeal to guys who want to see - well, the girls getting up to mischief! In reality, this is probably not the case. In fact, the majority of people I know didn't like this film. I myself DID. Call me easily amused. I'll agree. But if you want a good laugh that you don't want to have to concentrate too hard on, you're on to ...
...Here's a brief outline of the story for the unititiated: Christina (Diaz) loves guys and pretty much uses them to her own advantage, as we see in the opening scenes when a bunch of blokes who have been dumped by her basically say she broke their hearts and treated them like crap - but they still like her. Her friend Courtney (Applegate) is completely in agreement with her, except even worse! Jane (Blair) on the other hand, is miserable because she ...

First came love. Now the fun.

Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: May be seen as too rude for some.

...Year: 2002 Genre: Comedy/Romance The plot: Cameron Diaz plays Christina Walters in this fantastic comedy based upon the rules of love. Christina Walters and her friend Jane Burns (Christina Applegate) come home to find their friend Courtney Rockcliffe (Selma Blair) devestated as she had just been dumped by her boyfriend. The pair team up to show their friend that she opened herself to love which is the wrong thing to do, so to help her get over ...

On this chase for Mr Right you are taken through fun, entertainment and laughs. The casting: Cameron Diaz is excellent casting for this part as looking at her she does look the sweetest thing. Christina Applegate has an important role in this film as she is the one on the chase with Cameron and she ...

I have never laughed so much...

Advantages: absolutely hillarious
Disadvantages: can't think of one

...THis really has to be the funniest film I have seen. Just to illustrate how good it is, after being recommended it by a friend I went and got it out of the video shop on Two day rental and watched three times. Then when I took it back to the video shop I bought it there and then because I knew I would be wanting to watch it over and over. THE STORY Admittedly, the film hasn't got an amazing story line. It's only really got one major plot twist which ...
...would only be important for the first viewing. Anyway, the film is set in San Francisco and involves three friends (Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, Selma Blair) who like to have a good time and playing the field. THat is until Christina (Diaz) meets the man of her dreams in a club and abandons all her fears to go chasing after him. It sounds like a very girly film, and I would agree, but the lads I have watched it with have all found it equally ...

Little let down...

Advantages: Top cast, great concept
Disadvantages: Not as funny as it could have been!

...seeing it, mainly due to the great cast, and funny trailers, but, unfortunately, the final product didn't live up to the hype. Christina (Diaz) is the ultimate "good time gal", who falls for a guy she meets at a bar, and follows him to his brothers wedding, but, her gamble doesn't pay off and she decides it's time to hang up her dancing shoes and try to settle down. What results is a lot of tasteless jokes, which appear for random reasons! Personally, ...
...desperate attempt for laughs. The cast though do have to be complemented, they did very well with what was given to them, and according to the commentary a lot of the funniest moments were actually ad-libs. Diaz was great as always, but it kind of felt she was there to try and recreate the sort of success There's Something About Mary had, but The Sweetest Thing, whilst it has its moments, just can't compare. The extras on the DVD are quite good ...

Keep 'em coming

Advantages: So real, it almost hurts
Disadvantages: Might scare men who can't dare to imagine women could possibly be like this...

...that this is one of the funniest, wittiest, side splitting comedies I have seen for a long time. The women are gorgeous, successful and relatively well off. They also go out every weekend, use and abuse good looking men and get themselves stonking hangovers - much like the majority of single 20-somethings I have had the pleasure of meeting (and being). Whilst slightly far-fetched as far as the chase-the-wedding, terrible outfit from Ab Fab-type outlet ...
...The girls are out regularly - trying to find Mr Right, and going through a lot of Mr Wrong's and Maybe's at the same time. This night though, Cameron's character meets a great guy, and the rest of the story follows the girls trying to track him down, allegedly through his brothers wedding, across country and through some hilarious events. Slighly 'Carry On' style to it, but this humour is needed now and then. This is a true chick flick with a difference ...

Advantages: The Penis song!
Disadvantages: Not really sure - I loved this film!

...funny. After seeing it at the cinema with an unsuspecting boyfriend I couldn't wait to recommend this film to my girlfriends. For those with a nervous disposition it is a little rude and sometimes outragous, in fact it actually shocked some of my male friends! The plot follows three friends from San Fransico as they look for men. Cameron Diaz plays a fun loving girl who has lots of male "friends", but never really commits to one man. She doesn't ...
...even a movie montage moment! The plot is simply about a girl who can't find a decent relationship, but the film makes up the lack of story it in outrageous comedy moments. The penis song and dance is definetly the highlight of the whole film! I recommend this film for a girlie night in with lots of pizza and a bottle of wine! ...
