In the sixth sense Bruce Willis plays a psychologist who befriends a young boy to help him learn to accept his "gift" of seeing and communicating with the dead. I'm not going to spoil it for you by telling you any more of the storyline than that, except to say that this film has it all .. drama, romance, suspense. The performances are first class, especially from the actor who plays the young boy (sorry, can't recall his name) - Bruse is excellent ...

Advantages: Good strong story line keeps you hooked Disadvantages: Didn't want it to end
...it will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through.
I don't want to give the story line away but to see Bruce Willis in a role that does not involve saving the country from madmen or blowing up everything in sight makes a refreshing change.
He has proved that he can play a sincere role just as good and if not better than anyone. I have heard there is another film coming out soon with Willis in it, in a film where he plays a similar sort ...

Advantages: First time viewer captured, gripping plot, good acting Disadvantages: Plot boring in middle phase, Complicated storyline to understand fully
After people have first seen the Sixth Sense, nine times out of ten you will hear them comment on how the ending had them rather perplexed as to how they didn’t realise what was happening, right until the closing scene. But the question you really have to ask yourself is, was the ending really that much of a surprise?
The basic storyline of the film is about a psychiatrist (Malcolm Green – Played by Bruce Willis) who begins in the film by being ... ...into his house. The next scene shows the same setting (but six months later), and shows Green watching another one of his patients (A young boy called Cole -Played by Haley Joel Osment) from a bench outside the boys house. This is important as it has immediately answered the viewers question from the last scene of ‘did he survive the shooting or not?’, with what the viewer assumes as a indefinite yes. Cole’s problem is that he can see dead people ...

Advantages: Great Film with a Great Twist Disadvantages: Everyone knows the twist now
...those who walked out of the cinema proudly announcing the twist was obvious I say "You lie."
While it is easy to disregard "Bruce Willis and a kid" movies (like Mecury Rising for example) this is film which is deceptively intelligent and intricately worked. For Joel Osment (I think he name was) plays an affected child extremely well. The audience becomes wrapt in his and his mothers struggles with his mental troubles and the personal anguish shown ... ...as well.
This is why the film is far better than people give it credit for. They just want a ghost story - and they are not going to get it.
All this before Bruce Willis even matters really and he is the second star of the film. In the true sense of creepy horror we see Bruce Willis guide his patient through the film and only at the end do we see that it is not Bruce Willis who is doing the helping. There are great moments of childhood terror such ...

...will keep you quessing until the last minute. It is a fantastic film all the way through but the ending is a work of art. I had to watch it twice and the second time through I was looking more carefully to see how the ending came about.
The actors were brilliant, portraying brilliant characters. Haley Joel Osmont (the little boy) was particularly believable.
I would recommend this film to anyone as it is THE film of the decade!
Buy it on video ... ...again!
Its really that good!
The basic storyline goes a little something like this...
A young boy keeps seeing dead people, they give him nightmares. Then a pyscologist comes along to try and help the boy. The story tracks their progress. At the end we learn something about the pyscologist - but I'm not going to tell you what!
Its impossible for me to do this film justice in a review but I would recommend it to anyone! ...

...The sixth sense is a film “atypical” in comparison to the cinema panorama of the last years. Personally I judge him/it a film of good level but without excessive pretensions. Or perlomeno… you/he/she is induced to hold so until wing sad final scene. Seen for the first time to the cinema in 1999 and seen again then in videocassette and subsequently in television really some days ago, every time I don't succeed in being impassive, despite the efforts, ... ...go with order. The director is M. Night Shymalan, a young Indian (of India) here to the debut (after the ghosts, you/he/she has spoken of the supererois, in his/her Unbreakable and, in these days, of extraterrestrials, with Signs), you/he/she perpetually uses a mobile shot: as if it brought the television camera on the shoulders (instead that hooked to the equipments) and therefore constantly trembling. It sometimes delays (also stucchevolmente) ...

...didn't see this film in the cinema because I was at the time under Age btut when it came out to rent I luckily had not been told about the twist at the end (I will not say because if you have not seen it I don't want to spoil it for you) so it came as a real shock.

Advantages: Nothing sticks out Disadvantages: Only stands one viewing
My main gripe with the Sixth Sense is that, as you might guess from the title to this review, you can only watch it once, or possibly twice at a stretch. The basic plot is that a doctor sees a child who thinks that he can see dead people, and makes an attempt to cure him, however at the end of the film the doctor realises that he is in fact dead and has been murdered. All in all it is a strange film, but certainly not one to buy. Fans of the main ...

...gives a terrific performance, and the two combined capture the atmosphere of the film brilliantly. The plot is (for a change!) original, and although at times a little too convinient for my liking is great for entertainment. The film can be described in many ways, a tear jerker, a chiller, a physcological thriller,or whatever you want to call it! Each of the people I know that have seen the sixth sense, have interpreted the film in their own way ... ...the film offers. The story itself is about a boy who in the now famous words 'sees dead people' and Willis comes along to help him and his mother. The plot is at times rather predictable, and as I have already said convinient, such as Willis not realising he is a ghost (whoops! hope I haven't spoiled the ending!)until the end of the film. This is covered up by the boy saying 'they only see what they want to see.' However, these are only minor flaws ...

Advantages: Great acting, gripping storyline Disadvantages: slightly slow to begin
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Starring: Bruce Willis, Olivia Williams, Haley Joel Osment, Donnie Wahlberg
Directed By: M. Night Shyamalan
After retuning home from a celebration of pschologist Malcolm Crowe's (Willis) efforts with children, him and his wife find an intruder, Vincent Gray (Wahlberg) in their bathroom, Gray shoots himself after asking the question "Do you know why you're afraid when you're alone?". The next fall Crowe finds himself working ... ...sense, allowing him to see the dead.
Spooky ghost story that sees Osment and Willis perform excellently in challenging roles. Although slightly slow during the first half hour, the unique and absorbing storyline fails to leave anyone disappointed. Fittingly creepy background music adds to the chill-factor of this spine-tingling pschological thriller that's brave enough to dig deeper into our darkest fears of death, madness and the supernatural. ...

THE SIXTH SENSE (15)
Starring Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment
Bruce Willis stars as child psychologist Mackin Crowe, who takes up the case of Cole Sear, a young boy who appears to have behavioural problems. However, as you all should know by now, not everything is as it seems and the boy confesses to Crowe that he can see ghosts.
The Sixth Sense is a marvellous film. At first, I was slightly sceptical of young Osment's supposed ability to act, ... ...Bruce Willis proves that, if the need arises, he can act solidly. There is an incredible atmosphere to this film that swirls around you and takes you in. It gives you that strange tingly feeling in the bottom of your stomach. There is a continuous sense of fear in this film. Not the fear you get when watching a movie like Scream or Halloween, but real fear!! Nothing jumps out at you but the eerie music which builds up over what seems like an age, ...

...with a good twist at the end, something which will make you sit up and watch and this was one of those films. If you haven’t watched this film yet, you are really missing out. The story line is good but the ending is brilliant, so obvious you’ll wonder how you missed it.
All I have to say on the matter……..
The actors are really good, Haley Joel Osment who plays Cole Sears is excellent and I’ll never get that chilling ... ...bad either. He plays the child psychologist who tries to help him, it’s quite a different role for Bruce but he’s very good. It is directed really well by M Shyamalan, and all the scenes work well. The ending is sad, and the beginning and middle bits interesting. I wouldn’t say it was a horror film, but some parts seemed like it. Th very fact that dead people are involved makes it a bit creepy…..

...choosing suspense roles. In THE SIXTH SENSE, Willis is in fine acting form and the film is stellar in both its writing and production. ~~~~~ It's the best ghost story yet on film and the actors are simply marvelous. Willis plays his "tortured man" with 100% believability and young actor, Haley Joel Osment, convincingly portrays Cole Sear, an eight year old boy who explains, "I can see dead people." ~~~~~ In the film, Willis plays psychiatrist Dr. ... ...young Cole rid himself of the "spirit visitations". The film is intense and riveting. I didn't look once at my watch. ~~~~~
The story is a simple Dr. Crowe, believing he once failed a young male patient much like Sear, seeks to solve young Cole's "hallucinations"; to cure the boy from believeing he can see ghosts. However, Dr. Crowe begins to believe the boy's claims and the story is both disturbing and enlightening. ~~~~~
I highly recommend purchasing ...
