Advantages: Great thriller Disadvantages: To many coincidences
...calm his former patient down, the intruder pulls a gun and shoots him and himself.
Several months later and Crowe has recovered from the shooting although he is an emotional mess. Still feeling guilt over his failed patient, his relationship with his wife has become seriously strained especially as he has suspicions that she is having an affair. In an attempt to deal with his guilt, he takes on the case of a 9 year old boy, Cole Sear (Haley Joel ... ...just say, that for all the things which are wrong with "The Sixth Sense", writer/ director M. Night Shyamalan has created a very good thriller which works exceptionally well on different levels. For those who want to watch it just for it's entertainment factor will not be disappointed, as he has created so much suspense that it will have you glued to the screen for it's duration. On the other hand, those who like to watch a film and try and predict ...

Advantages: Great acting, and twists in the plot! Disadvantages: Miss so much if you only watch it one!
...thriller and drama. The Story
The story starts with Child physiologist Dr Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) on the evening he has been given an award by the mayor for all his hard work and dedication over the years. As he celebrates with his wife (Olivia Williams) an intruder brakes in to the house; however this intruder is no stranger it is one of Crowe's child patients Vincent (Donnie Walberg) now grown up. He is unhappy with the help that Crowe gave ... ...Crowe is able to help the boy, and in his own way Cole also helps Crowe. My Thoughts
Personally I think this film is genius, it is so cleverly written and directed, you are immediately hooked. I love the fact that it is not full of blood and guts, but it is still scary in parts more because of what is implied rather than what you actually see. A lot of detail and thought has gone into every inch of this film, for example every time Cole sees a ghost ...

Advantages: Meaningful, thought-provoking & very emotive Disadvantages: It is very hard to translate fantasy into reality
...(I hope this doesn't defeat the object of my review altogether!). I have seen this one a couple of times before & it is pretty well known, so most readers will probably already know the story, but my outline will be as always - hopefully not too patronising!
The story
Having just celebrated receiving an award recognising his achievements practising in child psychology - for all the children he has helped or 'saved' - Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) ... ...feeling he was abandoned by the doctor when he needed help. Malcolm remembers him with some guilt, but still has no idea what to do. Unfortunately it is too late for that patient, now a grown man in a dreadful state, & he pulls out a gun, fires on shot at Malcolm, then shoots himself. Sometime onwards, Dr. Malcolm Crowe, permanently burdened by the guilt of failing that one patient, is approached by a boy (Haley Joel Osment) that somehow reminds ...

Advantages: The twist Disadvantages: The underuse of Collette
...confronted by a patient from the past who feels failed by him, he vows not to make the same mistake again. When he is assigned to Cole Sear, a wide eyed little boy who exhibits similar traits to the earlier patient, he feels compelled to discover what it is that haunts the little boy. Cole comes from a broken home, and lives alone with his downtrodden hardworking mother. As the film progresses, Cole claims to see dead people, a strange claim that ... ...wont give anything away, but the finale is the best kept secret in recent cinematic history and will make you gasp in shock and awe. There are also several truly frightening moments, and the scare's are there in just the right place to make you jump. The acting is central to the story as well. Bruce Willis is fantastic as the softly spoken doctor, and its great to see him playing it straight for a change. Haley Joel Osmont won awards for his potrayal ...
