...no fault with this. From the writer Stepen King you are pretty much guarenteed a good film, although I have to say I preferred the book. Nicholson is always a pleasure to watch, however I found some of the supporting actors rather false, but not enough to spoil it for me. ...I am quite disappointed in the way the books have been turned into film. Usually they digress and sensationalise the plot but in this film it is spot on and captures the atmosphere brilliantly. Jack Nicholson's portrayal is amazing and totally believable. You can feel the hairs on the back of your neck rising with each twist and turn. The Overlook hotel is exactly as I pictured it when reading the book and I have actually seen a hotel in Cyprus ...

...become a cult classic over the years. A very scary film in the way it affects the mind although it is very slow to get going. The masterful Direction of kubrick shows in this film as it was written and rewritten again. Stephen King who wrote the book was not happy with this film as he thought it was scary or violent enough, but I and other fans of the film will tend to disagree. The shining starts of slow and is quite borring at the start but it really gets better the acting is good and it is really scary i would give this film TEN OUT OF TEN!!!!!!! the speical features are good because it looks real when the people are getting killed the only thing wrong with the film is that it skips through diferent of times it that is a bit stupid because you are missing out on good bloody killings!!! it is good how they show the man ...
