The visuals are crisp and clean and Robbins direction is workmanlike but never creates spectacle. The Shaggy Dog is a Classical, Family Comedy that is a great for the kids. The story is about a Family/ Business man who is more involved with his business than his loved ones (he's a workaholic). He has two kids the teen daughter Carly Douglas (Zena grey) and the youngest Josh Douglas who is purposely failing in his studies, so he can get kicked off his football team and perhaps gain a spot in the school play Grease(what he really wants to do) ...

...as there is not only the comic humour expected for children, but there are plots which may be seen as amusing, and understood better by adults as well!
