Advantages: Classic Musical returns on 25th anniversary 2 disc boxset Disadvantages: A bit too strange for some
...went to see it at the Theatre and instantly became a fan (yes i did dress up, but not too outrageously!).
For those who don't know the story is of a young couple who get stranded in the car and call in at a local house to use thier phone. Little do they know that this house is inhabated by rather strange people from another planet included the cross dressing Frank N Furter! A whole amnor of crazy songs and dance routines follow and the young couple ... ...Starring Tim Curry as the magnificent Frank, Susan Sarandon as Janet and Mr O'Brien (of Crystal Maze fame - who actually wrote Rocky Horror) are all outstanding and the rest of the cast are good too.
All the known songs are in there from The Time Warp to Science Fiction and Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a Me. So it's time to 'Throw Open the switches on the sonic oscillator' and get on with the show...
The DVD is great. Release in a rather nice gatefold ...

Advantages: great cult following Disadvantages: video a disappointment
...teh 25th anniversary video of the RHPS, which we love and have been to see many times.
We watched the film, which was as good as ever, about a betrothed young couple off to find their old science teacher - they break down and end up knocking on the door of a big, old gothic mansion to ask for help. They become involved in the goings on there, and end up having a night "a night they would remember for a very long time indeed".
The video however, ... ...they cut it out of the film as it's quite dreary.
It also promises out-takes - I was disappointed as I was expecting to be rolling about laughing, however it seems they keep the sound track of the actual film while playing the out take pictures, it doesn't make sense, like the bedroom scenes, you want to know what they were saying on the out-take as it would be funnier but you get the actual film words.
If you are a Rocky fan you'll probably buy ...

...and a complete freak.
The film centre's on Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon) as they leave a friend's wedding only for their car to break down in torrential rain. In order to use the telephone to get help they go to the nearest house, an old imposing building with a solitary light showing through an upstairs window.

The good doctor is creating his dream man - Rocky Horror (Peter Hinwood), with brains and a six-pack but things do not go as anyone plans. Advantages: Funny, great actors, great soundtrack Disadvantages: Always finishes when watched
...favourites, every minute of the film is jammed full of one line jokes, very amusing and catchy sings ie 'the timewarp', great costumes and makeup. The effect is cheap as it should be for a film taken from the stage. The acting is great with many great actors making this one of their best appearances, Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon. The writer himself (Richard O'Brien) plays the part of the weird but funny butler 'handyman'.
The plot is thick if not bewildering ... ...it, buy the soundtrack if only for Meatloafs song and if you like it, watch it again and again, learn the words, the songs and go and see it at the theatre as somewhere, sometime this is always playing. Definite must, sit through it once, and you'll never look back. ...

Advantages: Great soundtrack, talented cast, a classic ! Disadvantages: Few
The idea of this film is completely bizarre - a weird mixture of B movies, aliens, orgies & transvestites - but it works ! Tim Curry stars as the outrageous Frank N Furter, with a supporting cast including Richard O' Brien (The Crystal Maze ex-host)& Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise). It is a wonderful film, filled with excellent songs & great dance routines. It is a very camp movie & is a lot of fun, although the violence involving Meatloaf's character ...

...Horror doesn't just belong in the Cult category - it DEFINES it! For 25 years this movie has been entertaining millions of people in theatres and at home. If for some twisted reason you haven't seen the movie or the live show, the story follows two newlyweds after they 'accidentally' stray into the confines of Dr. Frankenfurter and his friends. As it turns out, Frank and his gang are of another planet, and a battle ensues. It may sound corny or odd ... ...much fun it is. The performance by Tim Curry is phenomenal - deserves the 'best man in fishnets' award. It also stars Meatloaf as Eddie the biker. The musical routines (since the movie is primarily a musical) are timeless. Who hasn't done the timewarp? The movie gets a bit slow at the end, but at only 100 minutes, it is just right. The DVD version will finally be released on the movie's anniversary this Fall, and it will feature two discs packed ...

The Rocky Horror Picture Show was Richard O' Brien's outrageous gothic masterpiece. It also starred Tim Curry and Meatloaf.
Tim Curry played a sexual deviant (Dr N Furter) who is also a mad scientist who cross dresses, he comes from The Planet Transexual in the galaxy of Transylvania. The story is about an ordinary couple of people Brad and Janet on their honeymoon. One night they seek shelter from a storm at Dr Furter's castle.
This just happens ... ...as Time Warp, Over at the Frankenstein Place, Whatever Happened To Saturday Night and Sweet Transvestite. This was probably the first ever audience participation film, it was a pity it flopped in it's original release, but then it became a late night hit in London and New York, where young people dressed like their favourite cast members and sang the songs from the film while joining in with the routines. I didn't like the film, but I know a lot ...
