The Overture will blow you away!

Advantages: Superb acting, fantastic music, wonderful sets, brilliant acting chemistry
Disadvantages: Possibly a bit lengthy and not everyone's cup of tea

This was the first musical I ever saw, and has since got me completely hooked on that genre. I knew a few of the songs before I saw the film; my musical-obsessed friend told me I had to watch it. I have to admit - it completely blew me away, I still get shivers when I watch it - it's just so perfect. Told in flashback form, “The Phantom of the Opera” is set in 1870 at the Paris Opera House. The beautiful, young chorus girl, Christine Daae (Emmy ...
...a spolied fit and quits the production. Christine’s been tutored by a mysterious ‘Angel of Music’ for years. Her unseen teacher has taught her well and she sings (to use the cliché) like an angel, impressing the theatre’s new managers enough to allow her to become their new leading lady. While the naïve Christine believes her gentle tutor is the spirit of her father, her guardian (the ballet’s mistress) knows the truth. Christine’s teacher is really ...

He's certainly got inside my mind.

Advantages: Good songs, well acted
Disadvantages: Some would say that its a travesty

The Phantom of the Opera, not exactly the most interesting concept to the modern world after all who has any interest in Opera these days any how? Yet this is one of the most popular musicals in the world today. The story itself, is of an orphan girl who through her talent for song and ballet is able to live and work at the Paris Opera House, here her looks and voice captivate a man known only as the Phantom, a man no one has ever seen clearly and ...
...or a ghost. This is the story of how the Phantom's obsession becomes a danger to others who he believes to be in the girl, Christine Daae's, path to the top job in the opera house and the diva's roles, also of his attempts to win her love. The film is based upon the Musical of the same name and stars Emmy Rossum, as Christine who at the time was a relative unknown (she has later had a major role in The Day After Tomorrow). Also Gerrad Butler as the ...

The Phantom Of The Opera

Advantages: Amazing acting, singing and a Perfect performance
Disadvantages: Not everybodys cup of tea

The Phantom of the Opera is an amazing account of a young girl who lost her father at a young age and joined the opera house ballet school. Her ballet teacher Madame Giry, played by Miranda Richardson, takes her in and treats her as a daughter whilst caring for her own. They both become chorus girls, and ballet dancers who perform to the public. Christine Daee, Emmy Rossum, however has captured the eye of the Phantom who lives in the opera house, ...
...from the torture and terror he indured every day. The Phantom had a disfigured face and wasnt accepted in the world. So they used him to gain money, however when madame Giry whitnessed him murder his keeper she took him to the opera house, and he lived under it ever since then. The only person who knows where the Phantom came from, and also when and how he did it is Madame Giry. Every one has just come to accept that he is the Phantom of The Opera ...

The Phantom of the Opera

Advantages: Entertaining, enthralling, can't stop watching it
Disadvantages: A few bad changes from the stage production

'Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in, to the power of the music that I write.' The movie wasn't what I had in mind after seeing it on stage in 2001. In 2004 this Hollywood revival was put in movie format, including the new song 'Learn to be Lonely'. Starring Emmy Rossum, Gerard Butler and Patrick Wilson, this is possibly the best movie release of 2004. Young chorus girl, Christine Daae, finds herself moving up in theatre after La ...
...hears it, including The Phantom. The Phantom is determined to push Christine to her limits in musical theatre. But when she doesn't return his love, but falls for a dashing young man named Raoul de Chagny, the Phantom is enraged with jealousy, and won't let anything stand between himself and Rose - no matter what the cost. A few changes from the stage production include the chandalier dropping at the end of the movie instead of at the end of the ...

Phantom Of The Opera Movie Review

Advantages: Wonderful sets, acting, storyline and singing
Disadvantages: None that I can tihnk of!

...of cineman is one of the finest I have seen in recent. The luxurious sets are incredibly well shot, with director Joel Schumacher making wonderful use of lighting for effect, particularly in the underground lake sequences. The two most incredible sections of the film, in my opinion were the Point of No Return reprise, which takes places on the rooftop of the theatre, where the rose petals against the snow set a very striking mood in contrast with ...
...non-stop flurry of excitement until the end of the film, and also featuring modulations of all the main themes. Vocally this is a very strong work. I was slightly anxious that the original majesty of Webber's writing would be lost beneath the glamour of Hollywood editing and effects but what came out was a surprisingly pure, convincing sound. I would recommend this film to anybody. ...

phantom of the opera

Advantages: good special effects and all actors except for 1 did their own singing
Disadvantages: some changes in songs and they way they were sung

This is one of the best films of this year. I am a great Phantom fan and have seen the stage performance many times. So when I heard that a film was going to be made of it and everyone was to do their own singing I was looking forward to it. As soon as it came out in cinema I was straight there. I was a bit disappointed afterwards due to a few changes to certain moments of the piece and the way some of the songs were done. For example, little lotte ...
...of it was spoken until the end which spoilt it for me as didn't have the same feeling. But even so the actors put on a really good performance. Emmy's voice was very good although not as strong as I think it should be for the character. Gerald added a bit of roughness to the phantom's singing voice. It was good. Even though Minne Driver didn't sing her character's voice she had the character's attitude and mannerisms. All in all it was enjoyable ...

Quick review of The Phantom Of The Opera (Wide Screen) (Deluxe Box Set) (DVD)

ok guys, this is a great film to watch if you have the time to do so. its is kept very true to the stage musical. so if you have seen that then you will love this. the musical numbers are amazing and the costumes are excellent for that era. one thing i will say about this film is it can be quiet hard to follow the story and i do find it a bit long to concentrate!! overall though i think this is a very good version of this musical and is a must see for any musical theatre fan. ...

The Phantom of the Opera

Advantages: Has wonderful music
Disadvantages: Can be scary at times

...love with her childhood sweetheart, the man that taught her to sing, the phantom of the opera decides he wants Christinne all to himself. If you love musicals or just like singing then i really recommend this wonderful film to teenagers and above as it might scare younger children because of the bone chilling music and murders. This film has many famous faces such as Gerard Butler (who played Dracula in Dracula 2000), Emmy Rossum (played Laura Chapman ...
