Advantages: Great novel to film conversion, Well acted, Will make you cry. Disadvantages: Perhaps over the top in parts.
I would describe the movie "The Notebook" (2004) as an unabashedly romantic tale about love, memories, and death. It's a weepy, but I believe it's one that men can connect with. It's based on a novel by a man, the screenplay was written by a man, and the director is a man. The story chronicles one otherwise-quite-ordinary man's uncompromising love.
I had read Nicholas Sparks' bestselling novel "The Notebook" before seeing the film, and I would say ... ...I found the movie visually very pleasing, with its lush South Carolina landscapes and rich, saturated colors. Also, the 1940s cars and clothes are attractive and interesting. Complementing the film's visual style, the soundtrack music is appropriately romantic.
I must see film, that is nice to snuggle up on the sofa with either alone or with company. ...

No Words can describe the amount this film means to me!

Advantages: The story and chemistry between the two characters. Disadvantages: Almost none, maybe it would be better if it is based on modern life say, 21st century.
...knew it was this romantic! The story just captures my heart. It's about love at the first sight and this boy who was not so well off as the girl fell deeply inlove with the girl eventhough she did not acknowledge his actions. She was this rich girl who always had rich guys at her side. That did not break this boy's courage to tackle her. They both fell deeply inlove but one day they the girl had to leave to town and all the 365 letters the boy wrote ...

...brunette called Allie, trapped in the class divisions of 1940s America. After much harrassment, lower class Noah finally wins her affection, and her heart, but their love is undermined by the voice of Allie's arrogant mother, banning Allie from seeing her "trash" boyfriend, and thus placing the obstacle of shallow social conventions in the way of an undying love.
Allie is moved away from Noah, and the film is about her struggle to cope with the ... ...with Noah. It's Edgar Linton Vs Heathcliffe reminiscent but in a more western light, with absolutely fantastic scenes entirely depicting undying love, lust, struggle and pain. The film tells of a young couple, who like most, fall in love. they're separated, and forced not to talk. They're later reunited, and their love is re-kindled. A drastic turn of events, and an entirely moving story. One of the best ever made, in my opinion. Everything about this movie, is so cute, and easy to relate to. The director did wonders turning this novel into a film. Real talent required to capture such things through out it. I thouroghly ...

Advantages: Great acting, makes you cry (c'mon it's good to cry), good weepy ending. Disadvantages: Clicheed and unrealistic - You feel like you've seen it all before.
Now I'm probably not the best person to review romantic films such as this because films like the Notebook usually create an inner revulsion in the sheer clicheed nature of it all. Of course, having Moulin Rouge as one of my favourite films is probably slightly hypocritical.
Nevertheless, this film really did make me shake my head several times. It's the common story of rich girl falls in love with poor boy and family does not want her to be with ... ...this all before. On the other hand, this did not mean I did not enjoy the film. The acting was superb and despite my scepticism of romantic chick-flicks, I really did enjoy this film. Moreover, I promised myself I wouldn't cry and really didn't expect to cry only to be taken aback by the old couple at the end. Whilst McAdams and Gosling were really good the two old actors were just fantastic in portraying life-long love. It was just beautiful. The ...

...In my opinion it is the ultimate adults fairytale. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling have an amazing on screen relationship and really make you believe that romance is not dead. I cried and cried every time I watched this film. It is a young romance that lasts over the summer but is brought to an end by class. She's a rich girl, he's a rural boy and the families of the couple are very different. Absolutely brilliant. I would recommend this film to ...

At the start the love felt between Noah and Ally is so common of young lovers everyone will be able to empathise with them.
