...South Africa, but one of the girls had been raving about it, said it reduced her to tears, so I thought I'd give it a go. Now I hardly ever cry at films (Land Before Time, being the only one I can remember), even Gladiator, which is increadibly sad at the end only had me choked, but this.....left me with tears streaming down my face. At first I thought it was due to the fact that I might have been missing a certain someone, but no it would appear ... ...up in exactly the same state!!
Apparently 'the most romantic movie since Titanic' The Notebook is a typical romantic film in so many ways, which of course, is bound to make it slightly predictable, but I don't see the harm in that every now and again. I think it also makes it very easy to watch, unlike if, for example, you were watching The Matrix for the first time and you have to pay attention to every little detail.
The film starts with 'Duke' ...

Advantages: A portrayal of unconditional intense love based on a true story Disadvantages: None!
The Notebook is easily among the greatest love stories I ever watched! What I totally love the most about this movie is that opposed to some fantastic classic romances, this one actually ends happily. Of course, there are some major alterations from the book- the two of them do not die at the end, Allie seems somewhat more fiery in the movie, as well as some minor plot alterations. I am usually someone who loves the books more than the movies they ... ...have to admit that the movie is a tad more well-done than the actual book. In fact, both of them are wonderful- but in their own way. HERE BE SPOILERS So stop reading now if you haven't watched the movie yet!!!
My very favourite scenes in the movie will always remain the scene before the kiss in the rain, where Allie asks Noah why he never wrote, and Noah replies that he wrote to Allie everyday for a year. The second scene I absolutely adore is ...

Advantages: Complex and intricate love story, beautiful scenery and music. Disadvantages: none
Set in the 1940's and full of breath-taking scenery. This is defininately one of my favourite films as it's quite simply beautiful. The film focuses on two young adults - Noah and Allie who have a short but very intense yet sweet summer romance. The two are from very different backgrounds, Allie is from a wealthy background whereas Noah lives with his father and has always worked to earn his keep. With this in mind, it isn't a shock when Allie's ... ...up hope. This is probably the part I like most about the film. I love the depth to Noah's character. He is incredibly intense and a quote from the film sums him up perfectly: " when i see somethin' I like.. I... I.. gotta have it". This kind of all-consuming, 'can't live without you' love isn't at all over the top, as the film does keep a sense of realism, and when the beautiful dialogue is teamed up with the sensational scenery the film definately ...

Overview
The Notebook is a beautiful romantic film, which portrays two people's love for one another beautifully. From the very first time NOah sets eyes on Allie, until the beautiful, but sad ending, the film captures it all, including all the turmoil they must face - being together and apart.
Characters
There are two main characters in this film, Noah Calhoun, played by Ryan Gosling and later James Garner, and Allie Hamilton/Calhoun, played ... ...years, the actors make the characters real, and allow you to become emotionally involved with their lives. One particularly poignant part of the film is made well at a later part of the characters lives, where James garner and Geena Rowlands portray a difficult scene in the nursing home. James Marsden also appears in the film as part of another one of Allie's serious relationships.

...on an extremely high scale. The film had been recommended to her by another friend who has recommended it to someone else.
When I heard about the film and the settings it followed I genuinely thought it would be another mushy love film that would follow the same soppy storyline as all the other romantic films.
I was told to rent the film out so did one night when I had nothing else to do...
WOW!
The film was incredible.
From what started with ... ...be one of the best films I had ever seen.
The differences between the two main characters, Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) and Allie Hamilton (Rachel McAdams) could not have been any different if they had tried.
Allie Hamilton was a well educated young lady with plenty of money and friends while Noah Calhoun was a poor boy with no aspects or friends but nothing to lose.
The differences are what appealled to eachother and they followed a whirlwind ...

Advantages: Sooo romantic! Disadvantages: As others have said, yeah it's a bit predictable!
...few months ago, and all the girls were talking about The Notebook, which I hadn't seen. They said it was a fantastic film and I had to see it. That night I went on Sendit.com and bought the DVD for about £4.80! I thought it was a bargain considering it cost £16 in Woolworths. It arrived a few days later, but I've only just recently got round to watching it. All the girls at college were joking about how they had made their boyfriends watch the film, ... ...man. I admit that the following storyline is a bit predictable, because it's obvious that Allie and Noah will end up together. Anyway, they do get together again, and Noah builds a big house for them to live in. This whole story is being read by an old man to an old woman in a care home. The woman has Alzheimers disease, and the man is reading her the story to try to bring back her memory - the man is her husband (you dont know this till the end), ...

Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, this film was quite big in the cinemas but it never really appealing to me so I thought I'd give it a go.......

The storyline is really basic and sometimes can be a bit clichéd for example the main plot is around the breaking of the love as Allie's parents force her to move away.
The story has a voice over of an old couple reading a book telling the tale of Noah and Allie.
There are clashes between social class - Noah is a lumberjack from a poor background in comparison to Allie's rich and posh family from the city, but romantically ...
