King of the pumpkin patch.

Advantages: Great animated movie
Disadvantages: May be a bit scary for it's younger viewers

Halloween is one of the only holidays in which I morph into a complete Scrooge, gone are the days of cute kiddies in adorable costumes going door to door, with their parents anxiously lingering in the background, fun parties with apple bobbing contests are gone. Nowadays it's ruled by teenagers, often on their way home from school, harassing people for money or "treats" and threatening them with "tricks" if they don't hand something over, whether ...
...so every Halloween I unplug the doorbell, draw the curtains and refuse to answer the door to anybody (my family and I have a "ring first" procedure for visiting) I do have one small tradition that I undertake every year, just so I can provide a slightly more interesting answer than "nothing" when people ask what I did that night, that hard earned money of my other halves is spent on a few chocolate treats and drinks for him and I and we sit together, ...

...brilliant. For me, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is a perfect example of a brilliant film. Not only is the story exceptionally original, the action plentiful, and the animation just amazing, but it is one of those few films which you can truly call beautiful. So just what is The Nightmare Before Christmas? Well, if you don’t know, you must have been living in a cave for the past two decades. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a brilliantly ...

Jack Skellington is the “Pumpkin King” of Halloween town, the place where several terrifying but loveable characters live, and work for the holiday traditions of Halloween. It is revealed to us in the films second song in which Jack sings alone, that the Pumpkin King is sick and tired of the same thing every year, and is growing very tired ...

The Skeleton That Stole Christmas

Advantages: Excellent animation | Superb voice overs | Nice story
Disadvantages: May scare very, very young children

...you begun…’ So begins The Nightmare Before Christmas. Another treat from the wonderful mind of Tim Burton the film remains a great view for the festive period but also for a film to dip into all year round. When it was released in 1993 it was met by critical acclaim but unfortunately faired quite badly at the box office. Obviously people were put off by the thing that makes it so wonderful – it being an un-typical Christmas film. Despite this it ...

For hundreds of years each holiday has been kept separate but this film shows what happens when two holidays collide. Jack Skellington (Chris Sarandon) the King of Halloweentown is looked upon and revered by all of its inhabitants. Each year, after pretty much all year preparing, ...

This is Halloween!

Advantages: A superb movie from Burton!
Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste

This is the special edition of the movie! Please bear in mind this is the sceond time writing this review but because ciao hates me I lost the first one! This is a stop-motion animated movie from Tim Burton. Many make the mistake that burton is actually the director of this movie but he is not. He is the producer and the writer of the movie. It is his vision that first came from a poem Burton wrote. He doodled some characters onto the page whilst ...
...and went on to direct the "james and the giant peach" movie that was also stop-motion animation. I think Selick does a good job but I do think Burton would have been better directing the movie as it was his original vision! The plot is somehwat odd but in a very charming and original way. We are introduced at the start to the many holidays we celebrate, Christmas and easter are memtioned. We are taken to a secluded part of a wood where there are ...

THE STORYLINE: "T'was a long time ago, longer now than it seems, in a place that perhaps you've seen in your dreams. For the story you are about to be told took place in the holiday worlds of old. Don't have nightmares

Advantages: Tim Burton
Disadvantages: none - we love it

...Tim Burton is set in the scary world of Halloween where ghosts and ghouls are everyone's favourite. It was first written as a poem by Burton inspired of course by The Night Before Christmas written by Clement Clarke Moore which we will all be familiar with to some extent. His characters appearances were inspired by the Dr Seuss story books which were a favourite of Burtons. It is all about Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King who organises the Halloween ...

Advantages: great animation, gripping story
Disadvantages: too scary for the very young

Twas the night before christmas, and all over the house, not a creature was sirring, not even a mouse. A mouse, a woman made from off cuts, the boogie man, and the pumpkin king. What might it be like to become the celebrated champion of christmas too? So, Jack goes out and tries to create ...
...Chrismas for his own, puts the real Santa at risk. How will it end? Can Jack save Christmas? This film is rated PG, and is pretty harmless stuff. However, it is creepy. I would suggest that you think twice before letting your kids watch. My nine year old was fine, but my five year old was not. The odd, quirky little halloween characters are eerie. Some of the things that happen in the film, can be disturbing to say the least. I loved the film. The ...

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: Special Edition DVD Introduction The tagline for The Nightmare Before Christmas was: "A ghoulish tale with wicked humour and stunning animation"; I hardly think that does this truly classic masterpiece justice. ...film is a cinematic masterpiece. The juxter-position of is flawless stop-motion photography and beautiful sound track leave the viewer wanting to watch this film again and again. Like Dr Caligari Burton uses fantastic design ...
...of the characters and sets highly memorable and distinctive. All through the film it is more like the models were drawn on the screen, an effect the makers sought to get. Many of its other visually effects are simple but very effective. Take for example the ghost dog (Zero), which is made by using a sheet of glass with the dog reflected on. I made an essay on one scene for a film studies course it might prove useful. If you don’t want to read on, ...

My Favourite Nightmare

Advantages: A very unique xmas tale
Disadvantages: Not advisable for lovers of a traditional Christmas story

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a masterpiece from Tim Burton. Although it may not be one of his best known productions, this animation film really is a brilliant example of Tim Burton's bizzare imagination. The setting for this unusual tale of Christmas is Halloweentown. There, we meet Jack Skellington, Pumpkin King, leader of an array of ghoulish characters who spend every single day preparing for the activities of October 31st, each year striving ...

There, he happens upon several trees with shaped doors. Wondering where it could lead, Jack opens a door. He falls into a land of snow, fairy lights and carol singers, he is in ...

...was released in 1994 in the UK. It is an animated stop motion picture, written by Tim Burton, who is also responsible for huge films such as Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice. However, his goodwill turns sour when his mission puts the real Santa Claus in jeopardy, and so Jack has to takeover Claus's role and deliver all of the presents not to the habitants amusement.
