Advantages: Awesome sound and picture quality Disadvantages: None, none at all
The Matrix was undoubtedly the coolest film of 1999... It is also a film that was made for DVD, the crisper image quality and infinitely better sound that DVD's are capable of make watching the Matrix on DVD far far better than on video.
I don't think it's necessary to describe the film...if you haven't seen it then watch it right now... original, stylish, ground breaking special effects, great soundtrack and ultimately very cool.

Advantages: Incredible film, reasonable selection of special features. Disadvantages: More special features available in different formats.
The Matrix has become one of the 'must see' films of the last 10 years. A fine mixture of science fiction, action, mythology and a plot that makes you consider things in a very different way have all contributed to this.
For the fans, it needs no explaining, and no review. For the uninitiated, read on...

...house and after looking at the cover was immediatly interested. The dramatic sharp clothing of the people on the front of it totally draws your attention to it and intruiged me to what lay within.
So, I decided to watch it as I'd heard high recommendations in lots of top whatever charts and also from my friends. I sat dow, got my popcorn (and girlfriend!) and got comfy for the 1 1/2 hour film.

...dosen't put you down until the final credits roll...and beyond.
The unique Wachowski brothers masterpiece, the trilogy would swiftly go downhill from here and descend into what some reviewers dislike about this film, though I would disagree on that count, that being trashy, mindless, hollywood action flicks.
The film is not merely about the special effects, though these are intense and spectacular in a way few films have repeated. The emphasis ...

...film. But I only bought the film abdout 3 weeks back and this is one film that seems to just get better and better. Its superb. The film takes place in a year near 2100 and involves that complex plot that revolves around the fact that humans are now the energy source of a robot lifeform that have taken over the world. These Humans are grow on massive farms and their minds live in a computer programmed world know as the Matrix which is based on the ...

Advantages: Damm good thought provoking entertainment. Disadvantages: None
The movie The Matrix, the actors are actors, some well known, others less known, all good, all perfectly cast to portray characters to play out what I consider one of the greatest SCI FI films made (thus far) this film will have no doubt reached cult status by now.
The effect, ahhhh now to begin the review in earnest.

...he is missing something. Until the day comes that he gets a phone call at work from Morpheous, telling him how to get away from these men in black types but he gets caught by them anyway. He finally meets Morpheous and gets a choice between a blue pill, which keeps things the way they are, and a red one that takes him to ‘wonderland’ where he can find out about ‘The Matrix’. Now, don’t quote me on anything here because ...

Right, that was a fun little escapade. Anyhoo, when looking at the line up of the movie I wasn't too pleased to see Keanu Reeves playing the lead as Neo. I considered bad casting as in my opinion he hadn't made a movie worth watching since Bill ...

This film leaps the chasm towards the new millenium with fast-paced intelligent science fiction that could almost be fact - probably not one for the die hard technical sci-fi buffs, it appeals directly to the mainstream with its inclusion of black-clad sex-god Keanu. This film has spawned an entire bible of terms and catchphrases and philosophical debates amongst teens and young adults. What is reality? That classic dilemma - is it real - or is it ...

Advantages: Acting, special e's Disadvantages: NONe
the Matrix is a brilliant film - so cleverly made and yet so well put together that it seems real - but is it? Is the Matrix real? Who knows - but I do know that the film is a great film - in fact probably one of the top 25 films of all time - the special effects are superb and the acting is brilliant. I have seen this film many times and the DVD film lets you basically rip the film apart and watch any part you like - watch the making of it, see all ...

Advantages: Groundbreaking Effects, Clever Story Disadvantages: Bit Weird, Not Really The Best Acting
The thought just occured to me... was this just a clever way to reinvent superman? I guess we'll find out in the sequels.
Think about it this way.... they've shown us he can fly, he's stronger than any normal person & he's pretty much invincible.
Mind you i'm not complaining at all, I found this film to be very entertaining with a very clever story line. The whole concept was very orignal and with clever things thrown in such as explaining Deja-vous ...

...to hear it again, because The Matrix is so damn good.
I first saw this film in a cinema in America on a ski trip with my school. When the film had finished, everyone was saying how good it was, and how it was THE BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR BY FAR.
The special effects are matched by no other film ever made, as they are simply in a league of their own. The sequence of Neo avoiding the bullets is extraordinary, as is the karate training session.

...fair share of films, and The Matrix has many strong points to it.
For starters the plot. The world is fiction. Every single person in the world is fake. You think you are controlling yourself but really you are a puppet. The main story of this is about one Character, Neo (whose name happens to be an anagram for ONE). It is a rescue mission to save the world from the machines, or computers who are running the world. A group of people have escaped ...
