Advantages: Excellent story Disadvantages: hard to understand
The machines have discovered the last human city, Zion, located in the Earth's core, and an army of Squiddies is sent to destroy it. Neo (Keanu Reeves), the all-powerful One, must race to beat them there before launching a final battle that pits the last remaining unplugged humans against the machines. Along the way, with Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) by his side, Neo battles Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) and his clones, ... ...in a cliffhanger, setting up the trilogy's finale, The Matrix Revolutions.
Fans of 1999's The Matrix will be able to plug back in one day earlier than expected — Warner Bros. has moved the release date of the first sequel, The Matrix Reloaded, up by one day, to Thursday, May 15, 2003. Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros.' executive vice president and general sales manager for domestic distribution, told Variety, "There's a pent-up demand for the movie, ...

...feel it is one of the most amazing mind blowing films ever and the thinking behind the story is un-believable.
i am sorry to those of you that haven't seen number 1 and do not know what the matrix is. But i can not explain it to you as i wouldn't be able to do it justice. But if you go to deano76 review of matrix reloaded he has done a xcellent review and it has the best explanation of the matrix.
Heres a quick little bit about matrix reloaded ... ...and kill all the humans that are living down in the earth, they are sending thousands of ships to kill them all and along with them all the nebakanezzor, i have just assumed how you spell that lol. So they are all still trying to crack the matrix and the matrix "mr smiths" are trying to kill them. The oracle saves the day and tells neo what they have to do, so they go off to do it, picking up "the keymaker" on the way, he is a man that makes keys ...

...SPOILERS!
Opening exactly like the 1st movie and throwing us right into the action we get yet another Trinity action scene which is revealed to be Neo having a dream. Replacing some of the crew killed in the 1st film we get to meet Link (who will go on to be famous in LOST), this is also our 1st mention of and chance to actually see Zion. A lot of scenes in Zion go on far too long and are not needed at all, the huge dance rave being the worst offender ... ...Neo's 1st fight with the Smith's, Neo's fight after meeting The Keymaker are both far too long. Do the Directors not know how to cut a scene for pacing reasons? Yes, it looks cool. Yes, it's exciting but also sadly yes it detracts you away from what little plot there actually is at this point in the film. Basically all the stuff inside The Matrix this time is Neo trying to find The Architect who claims to be the creator of The Matrix (obviously this ...

...my imaginary version was practically the same, except for the whole Zion thing.
Ok so the film starts with a similar attention grabber to the first one. Trinity kicks in a whole load of Police (security guards, acually), evades an Agent by jumping though a window and seemingly gets killed. But just then Neo wakes up to find her lying next to him. Because now it's six months after the end of the first film and as you know Neo and Trinity are somewhat ... ...Reloded falls apart. The love that Neo and trinity feel for each other is completly non existant. In fact pretty much all the emotion from the first film is gone. The only emotion on display is from Neo who has gone from the confident and unbeatable Neo from the end of the first film back to the "what-the-hell" expression Neo from the middle of the first film. And of course there's "the new Tank" Link. Harold Perrineau Jr. put on a good performance ...

Advantages: Beautifully coriagraphed fights Disadvantages: Too many new ideas
In the sequel to the smash hit 'the matrix' The Matrix Reloaded is good in the way that if you like car chases and violence but bad unless you absolutely adore 10 minute speeches about 'free will'. Hmm I am sort of giving the impression that a free will speech is boring, which it is compared to the fighting, but it does bring up some very interesting thoughts about fate and God and all that.
In this film we start with some serious arse kicking from ... ...one' no doubt about that. The main plot is that the machines are digging towards the last city of mankind: Zion. The entire race of man is at peril if something isn't done about it.
Story: Surprisingly it isnt that good compared to number one which was just plain black and white, simple, but in this one we are left guessing on all sorts of different paths. I suppose I can't critizise the story until the matrix revolutions comes out in november.

Nevermind the fact that people in the UK had to wait 7 extra days (over and above the 4 years) to watch the matrix... it wasn't showing at my favourite movie theatre (ODEON Leicester Square)... a bit of pain in the backside and there are only so few films i am willing to dish out 10 quid for! but what the hey... I still got to watch it.
so... no matter what i say, you've already made up your mind: it's either crap or not. And in the people who think ... ...be painful!)
Story: Like the first movie, everyone emerged from the theatre a little dazed, and not quite willing to admit confusion. Took a little while to get going, and for a while, i was worried it would degenerate into a 10 terabytes of special effects, kissy-kissies, expensive sunglasses and leather coats. But those waiting for a serious way to escape the mind-wastage that is big brother tonight won't be disappointed. As one of my friends ...

_Plot_
The sequel to the matrix the plot obviously carries on. Neo is still on his quest to try and 'save the world', but with some new twist and turns also. Neo, Trinity and Morpheus carry on their quest in this film, with the opening of the film joining well from the last. It becomes increasingly apparent that the Machine Army is on its way, and not a lot would stop it. But Morpheus believes in the prophecy and therefore just fighting the old ... ...as he seems to be the difference between mass destruction and mass revolt. Neo must return back to the Matrix and find the key maker within 72 hours before an all-out war errupts upon the city of Zion.
_Actors_
Keanu Reeves plays Neo as you all probably know, but if you don't, Neo is supposed as 'the one', effectively meaning he has the power to save the human race. Just as good as his performance in the first even if the film didn't live up to ...

Advantages: Characters and storyline developed further Disadvantages: Unneccessary scenes that feel like they were just there to pad it out
Having thoroughly enjoyed the first movie, I had been anticipating this film's release for quite a while. After a summer of trying to get round to watch it, I finally managed to see it. I actually saw it on IMAX, as I decided earlier this year when I heard it was being released in this format that I was going to watch it there. Once the film started up, it did feel like it struggled to get going at first. However, once it had spluttered into motion ... ...up from where the first film had finished off, explaining more of The Matix's origins and how it operates, and developing the charcters of the first film, along with some new characters being thrown into the mix - all good ingredients in a sequel. It follows in the wake of the first movie, in that it's full of over-the-top special effects, many stunts and a great soundtrack to boot.
However, for all the good points of the film, there were quite ...

...sound good? Then read on… The great film “The Matrix” was only a taste of the matrix world. The plot is rich in detail and really stretches to the depths of the storyline itself. This must be watched.
The plot: If you watched the unique, hot selling predecessor “The Matrix” then you will understand about the fake world we live in and how the main character Neo is “the one”. You could only see a glimpse of his powers because the film itself was used ... ...a story could have made the Warner Bros. millions. But now the plot shows you all about the real world. It introduces you to loads of new characters, Zion and shows you Neo’s power. The architect shows that the film is deep and near the end there is a huge dramatic breakthrough that leaves people o the edge of their seat, biting their nails just waiting until “Matrix revolution” is out. Believe me its well worth it.

...Reeves as Neo.
Neo is the main hero of the movie. He has special abilites when inside the Matrix. He can fly, stop bullets in mid air, dodge bullets and is the best fighter out of all the humans.
Carrie Anne Moss as Trinity.
Trinity is the love of Neo's life. She is a farely good fighter and one of my favourite characters.

Morpheus is the Captain and leader of Neo and Trinity. He is a very intresting character ... ...Smith.
Agent Smith is the main bad guy in the movie. He is Neo's arch nemesis. He is a very good fighter and virtually unkillable. In this movie he has picked up a few intresting special abilites of his own. At first the agents were designed to govern the Matrix and apprehend any humans who enter it to free others. Quick review of The Matrix Reloaded (DVD)
The special-effects in this sci-fi techno are as wild as in the first film in this trilogy. However, I thought this was the least appealing of the three films. The action scenes were stupid and too repetitive (too much of the same kind of action.) Yet, to point out the good as well as the bad, the car chase was spectacular.
The film also went on a bit too long. It would have been better with some of those action scenes lessened.
I had heard the story was very poor, but I didn't find it that bad. However, there is too much technical talk. Who can understand half of the mumbo-jumbo espoused in here? ...

Advantages: Good music, Some interesting new characters Disadvantages: Plot too complex, Emotional detachment from characters, Too much vague philosophy
As a big fan of the original I was greatly looking forward to this, however it didn't live up to the hype. My main issue was the story, I could practically hear the plot straining to be deep and profound but this falls flat on its face. The plot, which is entangled in vague philosophy ("Not how, but why"), is unnecessarily confusing and I eventually found myself wondering, does this plot make sense or is it simply that I just don't care? I actually ... ...add some new interesting characters, the twins spring to mind - however there is very little focus on them in anything other than action sequences. The enigmatic Merovingian I also found very intriguing and they did rightfully focus on him. As a quick sidenote, I didn't give a flying fig about the relationship between Trinity and Neo. I put this down largely to the fact the script didn't flesh out the characters enough as well as their rather cold ...

Quick review of The Matrix Reloaded (DVD)
My least favorite of the three movies. The story is complicated, especially for the weak minded (ie; my sister who I went to see this with at the cinema. Advantages: Great special effects. Disadvantages: Dismal plot. The first was better.
The original matrix was a huge cinema success and rightly so. The plot was compelling and the special effects were amazing. Little did we know then that four years later would follow a sequel. The main cast remain: Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss. The subject remains the same; 'The world is a hoax'? The special effects remain and even the production glitches, for example if you observe carefully the sunglasses worn by the cast ... ...the cinema with my dad to view this film. he hadn't seen the first, original Matrix and could he understand it? No he couldn't. Most film sequels you get the general idea of the subject, Rocky for example, you know is about boxing. The matrix? Actually what is The Matrix all about? The Matrix Reloaded is on the same level as the original. You have Keanu and crew avoiding the 'agents', lots of agents. The oracle remains, guiding Keanu to success, ...
