Advantages: Good SFX, Entertaining Disadvantages: Confusing, dull at times
In the summer of 1999 i remember going to a advanced preview screening of the matrix. two hours later I emerged into the light having seen something completely different from the usual big bang hollywood affairs. the matrix had an interesting story, mindblowing effects and moments that just defied belief. needless to say the film was a big hit both on the big and small screen, this made the sequels a foregone conclusion. Now in a wave of hype and ... ...bigger scale and bigger expectation. the last time i saw hype as big as this was had phantom menace and look how that turned out. reviews so far have been mixed to say the least. what you have to remember is that this film can't possibly live up to the standards set by the first one. that's because it's world is now nothing new and the effects have been copied and made fun of in the three years that have passed. reloaded begins with some eye popping ...

...to be as good as The Matrix. It couldn't be, wouldn't be and to some extent, didn't have to be. And it isn't.
But just because it doesn't quite live up to its illustrious predecessor, that doesn't mean it isn't the best piece of top-flight, kick-ass entertainment for miles around. The Matrix Reloaded is every inch a 'must-see' movie and with the possible exception of Matrix Revolutions (due out in November), this could well be the biggest hit of ... ...as the first film though is simple: The Matrix had one key ingredient that is noticeably absent from its sequel - intrigue. The Matrix had a gripping air of mystery about it and the narrative was driven forward by one defining question - "What is the Matrix"? - and we, the audience, discover what it is along with the lead character, 'Neo' (Keanu Reeves).
Now that we know what the Matrix is the Wachowski brothers (writer/directors) are left without ...

Advantages: It is almost excellent Disadvantages: It could have been sheer genius
The city streets sprawl before you, a generic urban maze of alleys and wasteland. The shadows are deep and doors can lead you to places never imagined. Where everyone could become your enemy and thought can make you become a God. This is the world of the Matrix and your perceptions will be changed forever.

Advantages: More arse kicking kung foo shenanigans. Awesome!!! Disadvantages: More arse kicking kung foo shenanigans.Hang on, didn't we see that in '99?
Considering that after the original Matrix, Sandman sat at his computer for 19 days waiting for that liar Morpheus to free him from the Matrix before someone told the Sandman it wasn’t real, you can image Sandman’s excitement and trepidation at Reloaded.
Sandman first saw the full trailer for Reloaded while going to watch X-Men 2, and subsequently could not concentrate on the main feature. It promised more, bigger, better, faster, stronger. And ... ...This was going to be the next evolution of film. Nothing was ever going to be the same. Sandman scared many of his friends away with his obsession with all things Matrix. But it was going to be worth it…wasn’t it? Well, having just gotten his senses back and his job (after swearing never to wear a gun harness to work again) Sandman sat back and started to analyze whether or not Matrix: Reloaded was just a case of the ‘Emperor’s new clothes’.
The ...

Advantages: Dazzling special effects, great acting, Keanu Reeves Disadvantages: Philosophy - why?, poor script, drags on for the first hour, quite a long film
The Matrix Reloaded... I was originally going to not write an op on this, as it's just so confusing and it would be a case of the blind leading the blind, but I'll have a go anyway!
If you haven't seen the Matrix, then here's a quick summary: Neo (Keanu Reeves) is a computer programmer. He meets Morpheus, who is the one who inform him of The Matrix. The Matrix is much like a computer programme, controlled by machines, where we (normal humans) are ... ...people who have escaped from The Matrix and are desperately trying to put an end to it, and have a way of dipping in and out of the real world and The Matrix. They believe that someday, a certain someone, The One, will come along and destroy it. Morpheus thinks that Neo is that someone who will save the world.
Confusing? Completely! My description is a bit cloudy but you can get the gist of it!
Anyway, The Matrix Reloaded is set a few months on ...

Advantages: Great special effects, good story Disadvantages: ... if you can follow it.
To some people, the original Matrix was a masterpiece of original storytelling. The pinnacle of the art of movie making and special effects. The blah blah ... well, you get the picture.
To others, it was just downright confusing. As someone with a background in computing I was able to follow the original movie with no problems and enjoyed it, despite its slow pace in places. So I was looking forward to this, the follow up.
Matrix Reloaded is set ... ...of Matrix. In that time, the human resistance has had a great deal of success in releasing people from the 'battery farms', or power plants as their enemirs, the machines, like to call them.
The plot again follows the super human exploits of Neo who, by now, has become a bit of a superman within the artificially created electronic world of the Matrix. Again, the movie is pretty much a journey of exploration for Neo as he tries to find out why he ...

Advantages: Eye-popping visuals, much more smoother plot, and one of the best car chases I've ever seen Disadvantages: Some people may think its more recycled than reloaded
I'm probably one of the few people out there who didn't see the original MATRIX in it's entirety until about a month before the sequel. Yeah, I know...just let me explain. The first film came out while I was working in Japan, and it didn't seem all that interesting to me, and for one reason: in 1995, I went to see another futuristic tale with Keanu Reeves. It was called JOHNNY MNUEMONIC, and I consider it one of the worst films I've ever seen, and ... ...actor...or a good actor at the very least. It was actually two films I saw that finally drove me to see THE MATRIX. The director's, Larry and Andy Wachowski, made their debut with a 1996 crime thriller called BOUND, which starred Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon. I loved the style and originality of it, and I later ended up buying it on DVD (and, NO, not because of the lesbian sex scenes..lol). Like I said before, I've never considered Reeves an actor ...

...reloaded ops floating around at the minute and I decided to follow the trend. I had never seen the original matrix and had never really been interested in it, Sci fi movies and stuff aren't really my scene but my friend desperatley wanted to see this and I felt guilty saying I didnt want to so I thought watching the first movie would be quite a good idea before I trailed to see the second.
I must admit I really enjoyed the first and was chuffed ... ...saw the second. The one thing that worried me was that in the past sequels to movies a great as the Matrix have been doomed to fail in the past and it worried me that a sequel might ruin the film. ...to tell you how good the film is regardless. Rarely does a film shown in UK cinemas get a rapturous round of applause to see it off – this one did. Was it worth me standing outside in the rain to get one of the few remaining tickets? I thought so. Two hours...in proper Welsh rain, complete with thunder, armed only with a brolley and a flimsy green anorak.
I'm not going to give the plot away here – I don't think my fingers would last out that long. ... ...on seeing this one. Without the context the first film gives, this one will seem like a stream of pretty, albeit irrelevant, special effects. This film builds on the amazing foundations of the first, and will once again leave you pondering 'What is the matrix?'. If you had it sussed at the end of the first film, chances are that this one will pluck out all those ideas and flip them on their head. And probably give them a nice spin for good measure.

Advantages: A great film. Disadvantages: It seems like a long wait to September!
I had not seen the Matrix until a few days ago, and watched it in order to go and see this sequel. Now I'm addicted!
We return to Morpheous, Neo and Trinity and the decks of Morpheous' ship. Neo's god like powers within the matrix have allowed the release of more humans from the AIs than ever before.
However, the AIs have retaliated by putting together a concerted plan to attack Zion, the last human refuge with the purpose of eradicating the free ... ...attack. According to the prophecy that Morpheous believes in, the only way to prevent the destruction, is for Neo to reqach the mysterious "source" inside the mainframe computer that runs the Matrix.
The film is then involved with the various intricacies of completing this task.

The Matrix Reloaded will probably be remembered as being one of THE most anticipated sequels of our generation... hell.. perhaps even of all time. But did it live up to expectations?

His journey makes the bulk of the plot and takes him right to the core of the Matrix and its creator.
It's probably becoming a tiresome expression, but I do feel that Reloaded fell victim to its own intense hype. However, clichés aside, this is probably the least significant point which I can put forward in defence of this movie. ...

The original Matrix was a brilliant film, state of the art bullet-dodging and new age martial arts that really impressed.
Matrix Reloaded promised more of the same only better and with a typically humungous budget. What Reloaded also brought with it was the expectation of the same excitement generated by the original – there’s no way it could deliver this, so it had to be better in other areas.
So what extra elements come with Reloaded which weren’t ... ...dear old Keanu gets off the ground sometimes, I don’t know, it has got that flabby. For your money (and we are talking luxury seats here) you get a laboured insight into the underground world of Zion, but I have to say it’s largely a waste of time, because the computer generated graphics of this huge underground world – great as they are, are just too complex to appreciate, even on the big screen.
Added value also comes in the form of an insight ...

...drew all of you to The Matrix, or what draws you to it today. For me, it was three things: the story behind the film that truly drove the film forward, as opposed to being an afterthought; the philosophical aspect of the film, the questioning of the very premise of what we define as 'real', and the rather brutal observations on the human race; and the special effects which actually aided in telling the story, and did not seem too extreme or over-the-top. ... ...films, and experiences, of the 90's. It might be exaggerating a little to call it the Citizen Kane of the postmodern age, but it did set a benchmark that will be tough to beat for a while. What made this such a great sci-fi film (I use that term loosely, as I think The Matrix transcended such pigeon-holes as 'genre') was that fact that the film was driven by the story, the plot and the concept of it. All three of these blew me away more than the ...

What the hell is goin' on with The Matrix? That's what I been asking myself for the past month since I saw The Matrix: Reloaded. "Nobody can be told what the Matrix is, they have to see it for themselves." That was what Lawrence Fishburne said in the first one; well I'd like to rephrase that one for him: No-one can be told how mediocre the new Matrix movie is, you gotta see it for yourself. Then avoid it like genital herpes.
I had high hopes for ... ...taster of his sh*t: "I'm the M to the Ushroom to the Ravioli / My rhyming style's my WMD." Anyway, me an' M. were looking forward to the movie as it promised to lead us further into the world of The Matrix and promised to be bigger, better and with more bangs for buck. That was kinda the problem with it I guess. Allow me to elaborate: When I first checked out the original Matrix movie it was like watchin' my life: kung fu, guns, danger, naked chicks. ...

It’s time for the Matrix hype machine to re-appear as the final part of the trilogy hits theatres in a matter of weeks. Back in May we had The Matrix-Reloaded and it was heralded as bigger and better than the original. Yes it was bigger but it wasn’t as good in many ways because a lot was on the dull and boring side. Ultimately Reloaded is a filler for what will hopefully be the barnstorming final part.
The film does deliver an excellent highway ... ...special effects but one of the problems with this movie is that some of the sequences cross over into the boundary of CGI overload when you’re faced with obvious digital Neo’s and Agent Smiths. The film also has a very laughable rave sequence that may go down as the most unnecessary sequence in cinema this year.
I won’t got into plot details as there are countless opinions on the movie itself elsewhere on this site. Also if you haven’t seen the ...
