Advantages: all of it Disadvantages: hmm nope can't think of any
Another gushy rant about the brilliance of lord of the rings? yep, 'fraid so.
Sequels are a worrying thing - almost always crap. Lord of the Rings was always going to be different though, a sequel was never an afterthought because the first one had gone well, the final destination is the third film and it always has been. The sense of anticipation for the end of this saga is immense and it would have been easy for the middle film to feel like a lull ...

An epic adventure Review ofThe Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVDby
Cassiopeia
Advantages: Action packed, fantastic animation, wonderful scenery Disadvantages: sometimes the shots were a bit too close in during battle scenes
...their quest to dispose of the Ring in the fire of Mount Doom, appear only to be a side story which links together all the different clans and their attempts not be overcome by the dark Lord Sauron. The battle scenes take on huge proportions, and do take up quite a lot of the 3 hours of film. On occassion the perspective is a little too close up and the screen becomes a rather disorientating blur of swords, limbs (sometimes severed!) and ground. The ...

Wonderful but Long Review ofThe Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVDby
jambo14
Advantages: Brilliant effects and battle scenes Disadvantages: Too long and lacked the excitement of The Fellowship
...went to see Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers with excited anticipation, I had really enjoyed the first film and couldn't wait for the sequel. The film started well and the return of Gandalf (who I thought had died) added to my joy. Golam ( he is after The Ring for himself) joins with Frodo Baggins on his journey towards Mount Doom where he is heading to destroy The Ring. Golam is wonderful and graphically superb - he is so believable that you are ...

Advantages: Superb film(s), will always rank among the greats Disadvantages: Too many unnecessary deviations to the book
Lets get the 'we're not worthy' adoration of the film out of the way, it is simply superb. And so to the critical stuff:
For the avid fans of the books, the plot/story deviation in the first film was understandable, given the shear time restrictions and epic backstory, scene setting and character establishment the film had to achieve. However, TTT had no such mountain to climb, so the deviations to the story, in some places, (ie, the Ents involvement), ...

Advantages: Great special effects. Disadvantages: You really have to have read the book first.
I must have read the complete trilogy six or seven times now and I was very sceptical about any film that claimed to realise the true gravity of Tolkein's master piece. I have to confess that I did enjoy the Two Towers film as much as the Fellowship of the Ring and would probably rate them among my favourites but it is hard for me to be objective since I was able, in both films, to supply from memory all the bits missing.
Anyone seeing only the ...

And I am glad to say I was not disappointment! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it (and there were a lot of minutes!) The characters that were introduced in the previous film continue of their journey to save middle earth from darkness and evil. A few new characters are introduced ...

3 Short Hours. Review ofThe Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVDby
nutkins
Advantages: Scale Disadvantages: Overtones of Homosexuality between Frodo and Sam.
Having read the full trilogy at least four times, over a number of years, the release of 'The Two Towers' was a long time coming. The first attempt at bringing this masterpiece of literature to the silver screen was an animation that sadly ran out of money before the end of the second book. The style of this early attempt is very close to the atmosphere portrayed in the original tome, being dark brooding and with genuine undercurrents of the evil ...

Quick review of The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVD Review ofThe Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers DVDby
cyrakiara
The Two Towers is a very entertaining DVD to buy. You can end up watching the film over and over again. The film version was critically acclaimed and ended up being one of the biggest box office success worldwide. The epic battle for Helm's Deep is probably one of the greatest battle scenes in film and Golum is such an unforgettable character. While Gollum is just computer animated, the animation is so convincing I cannot believe he is not real. You will feel pity for him and understand the reason why he vacillated between good and evil in this film. The DVD version has more scenes that were cut out from the film version. You will not regret buying this DVD as your money will be well spent.

Advantages: stunning computer effects, thrilling story Disadvantages: The other thing i pictured differently were the talking trees.
...an amazing film. I've seen the film twice myself, the second time spotting many things which I missed the first. I'm yet to find a person who has not enjoyed the film.
It takes off where the first left off, using a quick and well stylised fashback of the important events from the first filming, and diving straight into the action. The film further extends the very believable, alternate world offered in the first film. Enabling the audience to really ...

As I watched this is in cinemas I may have not got the best atmosphere for the movie, or had someone distracting me from the good parts because the most of it was so boring I had to put popcorn into my eyes to save myself!

Advantages: Truly convincing depiction of an old world Disadvantages: Who cares about the heroes.
The two towers is a good film if you love special fx, it's slightly bleak but wonderfully realistic represention of this old world really makes you believe in it, a quality it shares with films such as Braveheart. The visuals are spectacular with walking trees, and a huge battle and the scenery changes often. It's only real downfall is under developted characters who you don't feel for. The characters spend so much time depressed that you start to ...

Those who haven't seen the first installment will be thoroughly lost throughout this film, although there are a couple of flashbacks to remind you of things you should remember for this installement.
Right from the off you're transported into another realm of bravery and unflinching warriors. The battle sequences sometimes become a ...

Advantages: a barn-storming follow-up to the original which delivers all it promised. Disadvantages: the film unfortunately has to end!
After the success of the original 'Lord of the rings' surely it was too much to ask that the 'Two Towers' could be as good - no it wasn't! This film is every bit as brilliant as the first, if not even better. It is a thrill a minute and even though the film lasts around three hours it feels more like three minutes. You are taken on a roller-coaster ride through action and fantasy as we continue the epic journey that our heroes began in the first film, ...
