The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is the second in the Middle-Earth trilogy directed by Peter Jackson. There will be a spoiler in this review for any who have not already seen the film or read the book.
The Plot
The plot of the film follows immediately on from the first film. With the Fellowship split up, the story takes on three parts. Frodo and Sam continue their quest to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mordor, aided by the untrustworthy ... ...the right path. Merry and Pippin, the other two hobbits from the Fellowship, take a different path by way of capture: as prisoners of the creatures created by the Dark Lord Sauron and his minions. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli set off to rescue the kidnapped hobbits but find themselves embroiled in a battle for mankind, joining forces with other men and creatures against Sauron's forces, marching on Isengard.

Frodo (Elijah Woods) : He has spent all his life in the shire who bravely takes on a quest. Nephew of Bilbo
Sam (Sean Astin) : Hobbit Gardner for Frodo and Bilbo and also Frodos best friend who accompanies Frodo on his journey Merry (Dominic Monaghan) : Cousin of Frodo and a mischeivous character who in the beginning inadvertantly ends up joining Frodo and Sam
Pippin (Billy Boyd) : Best friend of Merry and equally mischeivous ... ...sends Frodo on his quest, the first to identify the ring and possibly the only one fully aware of the dangers ahead.
Strider/Aragorn (Viego Mortensson): A Ranger from the north wondering the plains he is a man and perhaps there is more to him than meets the eye
Legolas (Orlando Bloom) : An Elven prince who is both nimble and sharp.
Gimili (John Rhys-Davies) : A proud dwarf with an initial mis-trust of the elves.

...minutes of extra footage included. The Two towers starts where the fellowship of the ring finishes with the fellowship going it's separate ways. Frodo and Sam heading for Mordor, the other two hobbits taken captive and Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn in hot pursuit. If you have read the book you will appreciate the extra scenes which have been added. This installment of the trilogy introduces us to Treebeard and the ents of fangorm forest. The two Towers sees the first great battle of the trilogy at Helm's Deep, the fortress of Rohan. The action in these scenes is excellent and has been very well thoughtout. The Lord of the rings is an amazing one of a kind film and for that reason the huge amount of extra features is more than justified. Advantages: Fantastic cinematography and battle scenes Disadvantages: Some might find it a little long.
As with the Fellowship of the Ring, this Extended Edition has extended scenes and additional scenes which add depth and scope to the entire story.
