The League of gentlemen are Jeremy Dyson, Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss and Reece Shearsmith, who after becoming friends when they all attended Bretton Hall Drama College, got together to do a comedy stage show, winning the Perrier award at the Edinburgh Festival, then going on to Radio scooping the Sony Silver Award ... ...wonderfully dark humorous show to the small screen in early 1999, making three series, a Christmas special, live show and finally a movie on the silver screen in 2005.

Advantages: Dark and creeeeepy, yet unbelivably funny! Disadvantages: Series 3. Pointless.

This small town holds many many creepy secrets, a butcher who deals in "specialised meats" (have a guess), The strange hygiene-obcessed Denton familly *cough*toads*cough* and obviously not forgetting (belive me I'v tried!) the evil secrets of the deep dark lurking gloom of.... THE LOCAL SHOP!
Series 1 starts with Ben Denton on the train traveling to Royston Vasey to stay ... ...I do now. From the unconvincing transvestite soon-to-be transexual cab driver nameb Babs, to Dr. Chinnery the poor poor man, cursed to severely awful vetinary practise, he kills every animal he gets his hands on in its own imaginative and cringing way. This show isnt for the weak stomached, or easilly offended, or ANY young child, I watched it at 12 and it scarred me for about 3 months..........papa lazzarou.............

Advantages: An excellent DVD, very funny and well presented in every case Disadvantages: Sometimes the material can be a little dark and disturbing
...funny and well presented, particularly the "Local shop" and "Job Centre" parts. The characters are well developed, and there is even a story which it revolves around. The material can be a little dark and disturbing, particularly involving the vet and the butcher, but it is excellently done. The box set also have a lot of special features that would interest any fan, including a lot of missing scenes and information about the characters and people ...
