...has obviously been missed by the majority of modern mainstream children's cinema (I can hear you whining about how beautiful pixar's animation is, its not animation, it's a computer programme and as empty and soul-less as point three). It just seems to me producers would rather spit in kids eyes as well as steal their parents money. It's lazy; there is plenty of talent out there 2. The Last Unicorn is an animated feature, based on the book by Peter S. Beagle. It has a great cast, which includes Mia Farrow as the voice of the Unicorn. To quickly outline the plot: the story revolves around a beautiful white unicorn who lives in a mythical forest. After overhearing two huntsman talk of her as the last of her kind she is struck by a desire to find out if this is true; to see if she really is the only unicorn left in the world. ...

...and this enthrawling tale about the last surviving unicorn has you hooked from the start. You may just end up thinking that perhaps it was all for real and unicorns did once exist. The film portrays magic and mystery with a mixture of surprise and suspense. You will soon become very attached to this loveable unicorn. ...years old. I since lost the original video much to my dismay and hadn't seen a copy of it until I went to Germany in 2002 and found The Last Unicorn on DVD with stickers! To keep it short the story begins in a forest where a unicorn begins her quest to see if she is really the last unicorn and goes to see if there are others like her. The Unicorn meets some colourful characters along the way including a singing butterfly, a magician named Schmendrick ...
...captures her for her show, the Red Bull who keeps all the Unicorns prisoners in the sea for King Haggard, Molly Grue who accompanies the magician and the unicorn on their travels and Prince Lear who the unicorn falls in love with as a human. The film has a cast of celebrity voices: Christopher Lee as King Haggard Mia Farrow as the unicorn Angela Lansbury as Mommy Fortuna and even though the sound track is a little 'cheesey' it seems to fit in ...

...as an adult. Whoever wrote the other review about it having poor animation and what not, they have to realize it was 1982! They didn't have fancy computer animation programs then. I am not particularly a fan of today's animated kid movies, with them all being computer generated. I like the real animated movies where you really have to be a talented artist to pull it off. This movie has a great storyline and I can't wait to show it to my own children. ...
