Advantages: Honesty, Braff, doesn't play up the comedic side Disadvantages: very easy to be seen as people moaning at having an easy life.
...films can be more than the sum of it's parts. The Godfather is much more than a mafia movie, Shaun of the Dead is much more than a comedy movie, The Matrix is much more than a sci-fi adventure. Whether this film is of a similar proportion is all dependant upon it's audience.
The key to watching The Last Kiss is to go in with no expectations whatsoever. Starring, most notably, Zach Braff, known most notably for his role in American sitcom 'Scrubs' ... ...O.C.', this has all the ingredients for a throwaway romantic comedy. However, the film substitutes laughs for a broad range of emotion and the problems of being a young adult slowly reaching middle age. Whether or not you see this film as a long, moaning mess or as a poetic expression of rational fears depends on your own life experiences. Emotionally fragile male youths are probably the most likely to sympathise with Michael's (Braff) position as ...

Advantages: Zach Braff Disadvantages: Also Zach Braff and an annoying storyline
...anxious, anxious about marriage and the future, because he is worried that there will be no more surprises in his life. In comes Kim (Rachel Bilson), a young university girl, who seems to be very interested in Michael. She seems to give him the surprises that he craves. Being pulled further into Kim's direction, MIchael makes a mistake. One last kiss.
Review:
This film and its characters annoyed me a lot. Why is Zach Braff such a stupid guy in ... ...you ruin it all with the anxiety of 'no surprises'? He is just creating problems for himself, to brighten up his days and so that he can have something to moan about. And Kim. Public enemy no 2. OK, she thought Michael is not happy with Jenna. Fine. Does that equate to 'oh let's have sex, because you don't like your girlfriend anyway'? No, I should think. She is deliberately trying to get with Michael even though she knows he has a girlfriend. Even ...

Advantages: Zach Braff, good supporting cast and enjoyable film Disadvantages: People may watch this as advertised as comedy when it is not
The Last Kiss stars Zach Braff as Michael, a 29 year old architect who has a good job, great girlfriend, good friends and a nice home. It starts with him saying that when he was younger and thought about what his life would be like at the age of 30 this is always what he wanted it to be like. Only problem is, now that he is there, he is scared that this is it, no more surprises for him.
The story begins with the audience finding out his girlfriend ... ...give too much away for the people who have not watched this film, he does see her again. This adds to his feelings of being in the same situation for the rest of his life and never having anything more. The story then continues telling the story of how Michael decides to deal with this situation and how the two woman deal with his decisions.
Even though the story between Michael and Jenna is the main plot, you are also introduced to Michael's friends ...

Advantages: Intense captivating storyline Disadvantages: Some 2D characters
...his usual Scrubs-like comedy lines. The movie doesnt however feature a few somewhat 2D characters who never really develop through the film.
The soundtrack was excellent featuring songs from snow patrol, which fitted the mood of the movie very well and kept the story fluid and moving quickly. I found the storyline thrilling but somewhat predictible because it was obvious from the start that Zach's character and his girlfriend would get back together ...

...powerful. It just feels real. The message of the film is fantastic. Not really knowing how it ends is a nice touch. Makes you think about the film even when it's over. The actors and actresses do a fantastic job at showing the story. The story is very true to life and shows the consequences of what happens. One scene is particular is fantastic. It really shows the hurt and betrayal of the girl. Absolutely brilliant film. Would definitely recommend ...
