== Review of The IT Crowd Series One DVD ==
I first got into 'The IT Crowd' when I saw a clip on one of those channel four's top 100 comedy….whatevers, which featured a clip from a scene of a woman looking like her head was floating through the air when in fact she was sat on a trolley that was being pushed by a midget like character named 'small Paul'. The surreal ness of it all coupled with the knowledge that it was written by the same guy (Graham ... ...had to buy the series on DVD. === Basic Storyline ===
The show is centred around three main characters whom all work in the basement of a company, two as IT teckies (Roy and Moss) managed by the non IT teckie, Jen, who is known as the 'relationship manager'. Each character is contrasting to the next and the series focuses on the different situations that occur and how they are dealt with by these three characters. More of this is in detail later ...

...so when I first saw the adverts on TV advertising this new first series of a sitcom called “The IT Crowd” I thought I would watch it. The adverts made it look good and after watching the first episode I can remember I wasn’t disappointed and I watched the whole series from then on.
After the series finished and came out on DVD I decided to buy it, mainly because I had enjoyed it the first time round and I hadn’t watched it ... ...a little what happened in the episodes and would probably watch it again and again. Also I have quite a few sitcoms on DVD so it would be another fine addition to my current collection of comedy DVDs.
The IT crowd is about three main characters and although there are other characters who play other central roles in some episodes they are not in all episodes and these three main characters are.
There is Roy, the very funny and very Irish IT technicians ...

Episode 2 (calamity jen)
This is by far the funniest episode of them all. It had me laughing for months. The boss declares war on stress, moss sets the office on fire, the emergency services number is changed to 0118999881999118725 3 plus jen buys a pair of shoes 2 sizes to small for her.

The funniest new development in comedy is here...I am a huge fan of many different comedy styles and heard about a new comedy being done based on an IT department and the work they do...working for a company where I phone a helpdesk regularly I know the frustrations of so many of us when we are asked "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" so when I gave this comedy a chance and heard this line I was delighted.
This is an amazing comedy show ... ...department) who are based in the basement of Renholm Industries huge multi storey tower. Being based in the basement they are all out of touch with how people interact, social aspects to work and how to deal with anybody who comes to them with queries about their phones or computers.
The comedy is somewhat absurd in many ways for this but once you have sat down and watched a couple of episodes you find yourself quickly warming to the characters ...

Advantages: Brilliant, original new comedy from our new generation of young British comedians. Disadvantages: The series is disappointingly short, and would benefit from being twice the length
...types of computer geek:
There's the all-round nerd with no common sense, or any idea about how society really works, just a lot of knowledge about boring things.
And there's the gamer. Not overly knowledgeable about anything other than computers, and a bit more clued-up about life beyond the darkened room, but still hopeless, sucked into the world of processors and BIOS setup through a love of computer games.
In the IT Crowd, the overall geek ... ...much of a social life.
The slightly less nerdy of the two IT guys is Roy, played by Irish actor Chris O'Dowd. He likes to think of himself as a perfectly normal, well-adjusted guy, but it is clear that deep down he is not very different from Moss.
The IT Crowd is the story of how their working lives are changed by the arrival of Jen, a fiery and completely computer-illiterate manager played by Katherine Parkinson. She lied on her CV, saying that ...

When I first saw the IT crowd on TV I thought it wasn't my cup of tea and turned over, but on watching the whole first series with a friend of mine I have to admit, I am hooked!!!
There is something about this series that takes me back to old comodore 64's and I am a bit of a nerd :)
This six episode DVD, follows Jen's initiation into the IT department, having tied through her teeth to her crazy new boss Denham that she knows about computers. She ... ...is my favourite character!!
The answer EVERY CALL with 'hello IT, have you tried turning it off and on again' and have an avertion to fixing any problems! I have worked in an IT deparment and in parts it was so spot on. I have found myself asking that since watching the show! The slightly disappointing side is that some things are so far fetched or cringy, the down to earth stuff is hilarious but for me hitting someone till they bleed isnt funny. ...

Advantages: British comedy, British actors, Disadvantages: only 6 episodes - very short series
...Danny Wallace.
Set in the basement of Reynholm Industries, the show is based around the hijinx of the IT staff:
Moss (Ayoade) - a 32 year old techno geek with a poor social life, Roy (O'Dowd) - a relaxed (if not lazy) IT engineer who will do anything to avoid work (including creating a tape to answer the phone for him to solve the problems of the staff upstairs).
Jen (Parkinson) - the "relationship manager" and head of the IT department whose ... ...e-mails, mice etc.)
The show has a lot of background references to "geek culture" such as video games, internet phenomenom etc. however this doesn't affect the comedy whatsoever, it even adds to it!
The only disappointing aspect of the show is the length of the series - only 6 episodes. However this would have been expected from a premiere season of a prime time show. However a new series is due Autumn 2007 so fans rejoice!
If you've ever had ...

Advantages: Hilarious easy-watching comedy Disadvantages: Not many episodes per series
...convinced that I would like the IT crowd when it was first shown on TV, but I happened to catch an episode on TV the other night and loved it, and I rushed out and bought both series on DVD. It's a shame there aren't more than 6 episodes in a series, but the extras are as hilarious as the show itself! This brand new British comedy is fantastic! It is set in the basement office of a big company, in the IT department and the story follows the lives ... ...have liked for example, The Big-Bang Theory. Although the writers also worked on Father Ted and The Office, I was skeptical. I had loved Father Ted, but not got along with the humour in The Office.
The DVD features the 6 episodes and some deleted scenes, hidden outtakes and more. ...
