I'm here to talk about a film that is considered a cult movie. Basic conditions in order to acces to so select circle: very filthy films (Pink Flamingos), very rare films (The naked launch), very stupid films (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), ... ...is excessive. Very much. From the beginning until the end. As the majority of adventures that this renowned director undertakes, it starts with a premise which can enervate or agree; it's not in vain that Lars Von Trier wants to change the game rules in each film, to share with you the passion he feels for cine, to dazzle, to boast (maybe) of being the first one to try this or that. ¿Is he honest? Advantages: Getting to hear danish Disadvantages: The characters are superficial, a useless twist, arty-farty directing.
...it was von Trier's master-piece, the quintessence of the dogma-95 movement. This movement was created in 95 by a bunch of scandinavians (including Lars Von Trier) and has a certain set of rules that every director must abide to in order to be accepted in the elitist movement. So the camera must be hand-held only, no music, no murder, etc... Personally I think this movement is quite silly but after all I've only seen one of its fruits.
Moving on ... ...more of a comedy at the beginning but becomes an emotional over the top drama. The main character Karen becomes involved in the group without really having a choice and decided to stay with them and join in all the FUN! She says she's happy but I doubt that in real life anybody would be really happy in such a situation. Anyway, at the end the leader of the group looses it and gets obsessed with their hobby.
